Loved this video! I love the vintage bags when they are in good shape. If memory serves, the GST retailed for $2900 at the time it was discontinued so $4000 sounds like a lot to me. I get that it is a decent price now. I remember when a classic flap was around $1600, but I haven't purchased Chanel in years because the quality has gone down while the prices have gone up.
The quality is SO TERRIBLE now. Recently I saw a 2023 vanity case and the interior leather at the base was glued in only - and wasn’t fit all the way in place. The bottom was LITERALLY COMING OUT OF THE BAG. It had the retail tags on the outside. Just no quality control whatsoever
I love my lady Dior but yeah they are horrible with retaining there values. Even the exotics , special editions don’t retain there values. I feel like you have to really love the bag to get it . Honestly going preloved is the way to go with this bag.
Omg yes! The exotics on lady Dior are even worse than the regular lambskins 😕 the resale market does not value exotics almost at all. As a matter of fact, a lot of people don’t like them

I own a Dior saddle bag the guy version, and I had to agree; it took me a really long time to purchase the bags because of the size and I was going back and forth between LV and Dior and I REALLY LOVED THE SADDLE BAG so I went with it!! So yes people, buy what you love, not because of the brand name!
You are correct about Hermes. Finally got my Hermes and she is so heavy and where am I going to tote a bag that costs that much daily..... She's in the box in the bag on the shelf......
Exactly! I can no longer carry a heavy bag because of all the stuff I have to carry (including sometimes my husband's wallet). I try to downsize, but the older you get, the more stuff you need!
Because of too many scandals related to selling fakes on the secondary market most of people still prefer to buy brand new. Especially popular / classic bags like the Saddle and Lady Dior. I also prefer the new version of the Saddle to the vintage. Vintage in general is not for everyone.

I was never interested in the Lady Dior, I have no where fancy to be lol. I agree the Goyard tote is way to flimsy for my 5’2 frame. I have three Neverful handbags. One pm , two MMS. One vintage first purchase in 07’, and got refurbished recently looks brand new. I want a Chanel but will only probably purchase a pre-loved one. I’m in Japan so hopefully I can find one within a good price range, if not I will not get. I like to purchase things I am going to use. I started off yrs ago purchasing some LV items TH-camrs recommended, but stopped years ago as well.
My favorite bag is my Lady Dior even though they don’t hold their value. I did buy mine on the preloved market. I buy my bags to wear, not to resell. I am not really a Chanel girl. It has been well over exploited and over priced. However, I do own the Chanel leather Deauville and a Chain Around Messenger. The flap is very boring to me. Own many LV bags, but the Neverfull has never been my vibe.

I bought my two minis, brand new in 2019-2020 and I paid $3450 for each . Now they retail for $5300. Prices on Fashionphile are close to $5K for a mini in great condition.
Also, I guess it's a personal thing, but I love the Lady Dior handles , I like the sound they make as well as the charms. You just need to know how to attach the strap/ chain the right way ( on the outer side if the rings) and then the handles won't be flapping apart. They will stay in upright position.
that's true I guess what I was more getting at was their popularity / sales don't compare to their popularity. Even at those prices they're likely to sit for a longer time than bags that are even more expensive

Absolutely agree 💯 about why Chanel decided to do that. They want loyalty not resellers and opportunists that just wanted to get the it colors and styles and turn them immediately for a profit. And just wait, I am seeing a lot of changes in other luxury houses that are following, Chanel and Hermes and are increasing prices secretly and surprising ppl. In the 90s you could get Hermes in store at request. It wasn’t exclusive but it was elusive it you knew about them then you knew if you didn’t you had no idea. Social media and sex in the city really are the reason for Hermes glow up.

With how often we need to get our phones in and out, a back pocket is a definite feature that can swing me on a bag. Do you have an opinion on feet? I feel like i should care more about them but so many bags i love don't have them so...

I'm shocked that more people don't have strong opions about usability with back pockets on bags but that's the reality - and I've been wrong before! however re: feet on bags- I don't really believe they do what people think they do. ANy bag with feet in the 4 corners will typically have the leather falling over the corners (see Birkins kellys and others) but ithey do make the bags heavier. -Overrated feature IMHO

As for me, yes totes aren’t the prettiest, but my LV Damier Ebene GM was purchased new in 2008 or 9. Used it to death, and still almost brand new.
It definitely is! While popular, Bottega still isn’t very mainstream. By nature, anything that’s hot on the market is going to be widely known and recognizable, and of course an accessible price.
One thing I noticed about the bags that don't sell is that they have little unisex appeal. I follow several gay male luxury youtubers, and they don't go for things like lady Dior or saddle. Not very practical. LV speedy? Yes.
I love my lady Dior ,because I don’t buy my bags to resale . I have no idea what’s up in the second market place . Maybe when I’m older and my daughters don’t want my old bags 😀.
That’s the right mindset! Never bank on resale, it’s just a way to offset some cost if you fall out of love! And re: your daughters in the future, you never know! They may love and obsess it may not be of interest to them down the road. One day we may not even be carrying bags 🤷🏽♀️ Shop for yourself and buy what you like!

Great question! The graceful is a great hobo however it has been my experience that over time the canvas can crack along the edge where it bends, so I’d be careful. And the nf is one of the most popular bags of all time. Their resale is UNMATCHED! However I would go with the one the complements your style the best

Mini Lady Dior in excellent condition hold their value pretty good. You can get a deal only on the vintage or large bags in bad shape.

i sold my saddle! the bag didnt work for me and when i got it for 3200 all the way back in 2020, the resell value was only 2600!
Yes, Dior never holds its full value. But $2600 is good! That’s about 80% retention 🙂
