Recut just a small portion off and you'll give them a fresh straw tip to drink up the water. Also, always cut off any leaves that are under the water to reduce rotting leaves that will reduce water quality for your flowers. Hope this helps with your beautiful flower arrangements.

In my humble opinion, it is much better for your plants to use a knife or pruners to harvest so much of your vegetables. Twisting and pulling the vegetables may cause significant damage to the plant. Personally, since your peppers seem to be struggling; i would pick the largest fruit on each plant to reduce stress. They should then be stimulated to produce more flowers and more peppers and it will help the plants grow stronger especially if fertilized again.

You mentioned a tape gun for helping to trellis tomatoes, and we spent about $30 or $35 this year and got a good one! Just a tip - if the tomato plant stalk gets much bigger around than your thumb, it will need SEVERAL taped spots (on each stalk) to keep it on the trellis. Works well for peppers and beans, too.

When you harvest cabbage, leave about an inch of stalk. Cover the stalk with a folded wet (wrung out) paper towel and secure it with a rubber band. Put it in a porous bag I poke holes in my gallon freezer bags. These will last for months and months in the frige produce drawers. I always plant more than I can use!
Pour a little sugar on your hands and rub the soap in with it while washing.... it'll take that tar, and all other sorts sticky things off. Thanks for sharing your joys, I love hanging 🙂✨ I love fried green tomato sandwiches;)
Over the years I have become sensitive to the oils on tomato plants. I now keep Lava soap on my kitchen sink during garden season. It is slightly abrasive and helps get all of that tomato gunk off my hands and arms after working in the tomatoes. When it is really dark I usually wash my hands twice to get it all off. Hope that helps you!
My Becky you are always into doing something for preserving. I know, it’s your mantra. House, baby, laundry, massive vegetation, it’s a lot for you. God bless you. Make sure you rest enough to preserve your energy and time well spent got family. I’m so proud of you!❤❤❤❤❤❤😂😂😂😅😅😅😢😢😊😊😊😊
Pam here….with the little rain the extra leaves on plants hold in the moisture in the soil so doesn’t dry out in heat and doesn’t need so much manual watering.
I bought one of the tape guns this year. Word of advice-don't use the red tape on the tomatoes! Lots of false hope at the beginning of the season when I saw the red and thought my tomatoes had turned already lol
I mix my different types of lettuce all together then I line my large bowl with a towel, put all the lettuce on top of towel then cover the lettuce with another towel if needed, put the lid on bowl. I find it stays fresh so much longer. Then if we want a salad we grab our bowel of lettuce. Then all I need is to add the rest of my ingredients. Love your video as usual. Thanks❤

I don’t if I can’t get away with not washing my eggs until I want to use them. Because once washed the coating that keeps nasties out is washed off and germs can get into eggs if not refrigerated. So I keep them dirty until I need them in the dark, cool cupboard. Been doing this for as long as we have reared poultry- 25 plus years and it has worked for us.I love the smell of tomato vines. Can’t say I have ever gotten Green/ black fingers from handling them.
I bought metal wire harvest baskets (off of Amazon), because it’s easier to wash veggies in, in the garden, with water from the hose, that I can then put directly back onto the vegetable plants…. No waste!
Hi Becky! Love watching your videos. I live in NC and purchased bushels and bushels of tomatoes, peppers and onions this year. I made tomato sauce, salsa, and spaghetti sauce and freeze dried it all. U can also wheel it up to the chickens if you can give them to the chicken❤ loving yr vlogs xxx Also get a crossbody bag and keep stuff u may need like a pair of gloves, scissors & knife in it when u go into the garden.
Becky, for the tomato staining on your hands: wash your hands with vinegar. Preferably when it's fresh, before you wash with water. Seriously. It's so easy. It'll take it right off. It'll maybe sting cuts if you have any, but it's worth the sting to be rid of the stain right away.
Hi My dear girl! A important message for your followers…..that pruning tomatoes is NOT advised in all areas! Here in drought ridden with over a month of triple digits temps here in west Texas. Well we let our tomatoes keep their branches, vines and leaves to prevent sun scald and be a living mulch that assist with keeping precious water from evaporating. The secret here is do not touch your tomatoes. Met a broken hearted first time gardener here and she had nearly naked tomatoes with sun scald on Her tomatoes, and rest of vines withered and dying Bless her! It’s hard gardening here in Texas and have been all of my 64 years.
This has become the latest trend, I’m in a 10b and this year I am only trimming for ventilation. My plants have never done so well. I always thought how do we know better than nature how something should grow. Have a good one.

Great harvest. Really, any harvest this year is a feat..this garden was a work in progress right into the planting season so kudos to you for getting plants in the ground! One piece of advice, you should cut when you are harvesting (instead of pulling, twisting and tugging), you will reduce trauma to the plants. Basil especially will yield a huge crop if you harvest while pruning it correctly.

Me too. Been out since May 2.
@@nancymcdowell9607 I was going crazy (ie so BORED) my first week. At the moment I'm glad I only took 3 weeks instead of the 4-6!
@OfCooksandBooks had stage 3 PTTD surgery. Non weight baring for 8 weeks. Quite painful. I go back on the 3rd of August. 4 1/2 in screw thru the heel to top of foot into clamps to make me a arch. I I hope you are feeling better!
@@nancymcdowell9607 ew oO. Here I am complaining about my hysterectomy LOL! Can't bend over, can't vacuum, can't lift 5-10 lbs, etc. At least my job is light duty so that's a plus :) Hope you're able to do some physical therapy :)
@5:00 since u have a lot of lettuce coming out of the garden now . I thought u might give the leftovers for the chickens and harvest a fresh batch to consume the most nutrient salad each day
Where we live in Oklahoma we leave all the leaves on our tomatoes to protect them from the sun. The sun burns them really bad here and we loose them.
Isn’t it nice having fresh flowers in your kitchen. Dry pretty!
Very…turns to dry every time. Sorry
Hello Becky, you could use some of the cabbage to make cabbage rolls and freeze them.
I got a smile when I saw a new video was out. lots of love from across the globe
Hey Becky, do not worry moving forward. I thought I was going to lose ALL my tomatoes last year to disease, but I got a recipe from a friend in Newfoundland for GREEN TOMATO MUSTARD PICKLES! & they are delicious on everything. Tangy and sweet. It made me want to grow tomatoes just for the green ones 😂
My mom makes mustard pickle and people love it.

💚 That really is quite an accomplishment to start SO many of your plants from seed! Well done.😊💚
Hello, I hope you're safe over there? I hope this year brings happiness, prosperity, love 💚 , and peace all over the world . Yay!!!! Im processing my garden harvest and loading the dehydrator when I got your notification. I'll be watching while chopping celery and onions for the freezer!
Hi all you beautiful ppl. Thanks to time diff between South Africa and wherever Becky is in America. (Someone pls tell me where again) just after 7pm in SA and time to relax with Becky. So look fwd to her vids ❤

Your haircut session brought a smile just when I needed it most. I thank you for being your natural selves.
Fried green tomatoes are delicious! I really was sad you threw those away. Your garden is beautiful! Thanks for all you do! 💕
Love fried green tomatoes!
Thanks for sharing your joys, I love hanging 🙂✨
I love fried green tomato sandwiches;)
The new plant and the sweet potatoes look really nice on the kitchen counter!! 😀😀😀
I’m so proud of you!❤❤❤❤❤❤😂😂😂😅😅😅😢😢😊😊😊😊
the cabbage split because you did not bring a knife to cut it, not because it rained.
@@cynthiafisher9907no it wasn't. The way she was pushing on it caused it to rip apart.
Becky a tip for you. Keep the wrappers of the butter you use and use that for greasing your pans.
Yes, I keep mine in a zip bag in my freezer.
Thanks❤
When you say “Well friends” I know the video is about to end and it give me the feels like if I was still a little girl watching “Out of the Box”. Thank you for sharing ur videos with us. It bring me so much joy 😊 have a lovely day
I don’t if I can’t get away with not washing my eggs until I want to use them.
It was AMAZING! I also freeze dried sliced tomatoes which are so delicious! Put them on top of a grilled burger and it absorbs those juices….a little taste of heaven! 22:34
Love it when you "ramble", Becky! It makes you come accross as so friendly and normal!! You are such a joy to listen to, and I soooo look forward to your posts.
God Bless you three.....would love to see your little boy, but I understand the privacy issues.

Would it be a good idea to buy a wheelie bin so you don't put weeds on yr roadway which is weed free at the moment. U can also wheel it up to the chickens if you can give them to the chicken❤ loving yr vlogs xxx
Also get a crossbody bag and keep stuff u may need like a pair of gloves, scissors & knife in it when u go into the garden.
I just LOVE it. You are so living my dream. I will get to this place very soon. I am so in love with the entire setup of your garden. This is very similar to how I want mines to be. I love the clean spaced out raise beds. I do have a request. I would love to see you relax and just hang out on the couch enjoying the fruits of your labor. LOL The bread looks amazing. I'm going to try it for sure. Thanks for sharing doll.
I had to do the same thing today .. after being gone for 5 days.. my plants exploded! And my tomitilos had several broken branches 😔.. my first time growing those..
Thank you for your inspiration Becky!
Hi Becky, a little weed bag would be handy to throw the weeds straight into as you go, they are light easy to fold and store. Might even mean only handling some of the weeds just once. Greaaaaaat video, love your channel and garden xoxo
Yes, all that pulling is damaging the crop. I was cringing at the cabbage harvest.
Lemon lovers will LOVE zuchinni bread with lemon glaze... It is the bomb! 😋 It's the reason I grow zuchinni.
Hi Becky,
Love how you are just beaming in your garden!
Zucchini is so versatile when preserving , i make pineapple zucchini and zucchini relish as well as shred and freeze it.
Thanks to you for all your inspiration❤
I'm so thankful for the timing of this video. I'm having my last meal before baby # 5 and this eases my anxiety ❤
I have a spiralizer attachment for my Kitchen Aid mixer and I freeze all of my zucchini as noodles. It makes it so much easier (and cheaper!) in the winter when I want zoodles.
It doesn't effect the texture?
@@cynthiafisher9907 I just take them straight from frozen to a quick saute in a pan. They don't get too mushy.
@@loverlyredhead Not too bad if you sauté them quickly on high from frozen.
Becky! Next time you end up with green tomatoes coming off the plant pickle them!! Pickled tomatoes are DELICIOUS!!!
I reclaim the egg washing water for watering plants.
HR is upgrading the freeze dryers! The medium will have 5 trays, all FDs will have 1 more tray in the new units. I’m an affiliate also.
I brought my green tomatoes in the house to ripen, it took a while, but didn't have to toss them. I love the video, learning a lot
Fried green tomatoes for those that broke off, delicious 😋
Becky the work you go through to give us those flawless transitions from kitchen, patio and garden. Also throughout your kitchen 🙌 I appreciate it! You definitely meet you step goal at the end of the day just setting up those cameras.
Hi Becky!! You are such a Joy to watch!! I had no doubt that what you planted would be successful! You have so much knowledge on gardening.I can smell that Zucchini Bread baking all the way across the United States.Take care Friend!!❤
I am never disheartened when a branch with a tomato on it breaks because there's so many yummy and delicious things to make with green tomatoes! I really hope you didn't deny yourself the delish dishes of green tomatioes, Becky!

@@AcreHomestead absolutely! My Nana use to make piccalilli with green tomatoes too! And something that looked like it that she called “Chow Chow”. Also quite yummy.
Fried green tomato sandwiches also on pizza.

Fried green tomatoes are great 😊 And green tomato relish, salsa and pickles 😊
I love the salad spinner. I wash my lettuce really well and then spin them dry. I will then put a zipper bag with a paper towel. It stays nice for two to three weeks.
Au graten summer squashes..delightfully good.
2T butter
1/2 an onion thinly sliced
1 small zucchini sliced 1/8-1/4 thick
1 yellow summer squash cut the same
2large cloves garlic crushed
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup grated parmesan
1 cup smoked gouda pre heat oven to 450
Melt butter in large frying pan over med heat add onion and Sautee until edges start to brown appx 5mn. Add garlic cook another minute. Add cream n simmer until bubbly and starts to thicken. Slowly add parmasan , stiring. Add squashes and cook appx 5 mn. I put this all into a smaller Pyrex baking dish and top with the grated cheese and bake 15-20 min or until cheese is golden.
I use Aldi shredded swiss and Gyrere instead of gyrere because we are low sodium and I use parm that is lowest I can find in deli area in grocery store. This is such a delicious way to used your summer squashes.. I like a little extra cream in this as well because. Well the end result is so so good!! Give it a whirl!! Nummi nummi!
When I make zucchini bread I usually add at least an extra cup so it stays very moist i then add a pinch more of baking powder and soda to give it the extra lift.I figured it out cause you always end up with just a little extra
Somebody was recently telling me you can do cabbage pizzas. Just cut them in big round flat circles and then put all the pizza toppings on and cook them in the oven. It sounded really good. I know you guys like your pizza might be worth a try.
Thank you for being kind and generous. Love your videos.
Can you tell us more about how you compost?
Not wasted tomatoes, but Fried Green Tomatoes!!! Sounds close to heaven to me! 😊😊😊
I made lemon blueberry zucchini bread the other day, and we've been eating it for breakfast with fresh strawberries. Yum
Yummmmmmmm
Your garden is doing so well! I got two eggs this morning from my four new Pullets! Guess it is time to integrate them with my two older hens!
Best time is at night when the older ones go to roost
@@hemphogg812 That is what I am planning…. This will be my first time introducing new birds to an existing flock. I used to just retire my entire flock at about 4 years old to a local school that had a huge flock of chickens… but.. they don’t have their chickens anymore….
Next time keep those green tomatoes and make some fried green tomato slices. Fried green tomatoes are so good!! They have a tartness to them and dipped in ranch dressing, it makes a wonderful appetizer or side dish. You might want to get a rolling wagon to bring your harvest in with. That might be easier for you than carrying the baskets.
She should be using the back of UTV they got ..
Make tomato relish with your green tomatoes
Or fry up some green tomatoes
Batter
Season to taste in flour
Egg wash, corn meal and flour
All in separate containers
Dip in egg
Dip in corn meal
Dip in flour
Fry in oil

Zucchini bread is my favorite bread and pumpkin bread is a close second.
I just wanted to say thank you for your positivity and encouragement. I started gardening about three years ago and there have been some very discouraging moments. The bright side is always that I learned something and continue to get a better harvest each year.
❤❤ Look at that gorgeous harvest! I love it! You and I are in similar zones, the weather affected all of us, yet your garden picked up and started producing sooner than mine because it's a bit warmer a bit sooner! Yes, I used fertilizer etc. too😊. I love to see it, and I love to see the differences the weather can have! Well done! It looks great! I've watched your channel since the beginning and now look at you! You are my type of 'people'! I've done all the same things for years, love cooking, meal prep, gardening! We would be great friends!
