- It's time to say goodbye to our 2 SCANIA R 420 tractor unit's.
These trucks are both from 2006, one unit has 1.4m kilometers and the other 1.2m
Both are manual, 3 over 3 split with range change and crawler, let's see what sort of condition they are in after 14 years of service.

Nice r420s they have to be one of the best R series ever made my dad drives one for MST transport and it is one of he best lorry’s I’ve ever been in.

One of the joys of driving trucks is that you never, ever, know what you're going to see from day to day. It really does prove that all life is out there on the roads...
Stavros, from a business point of view is it not worth refurbishing the trucks and then running them for another 5-10 years? Would've thought analogue would've been an advantage!! Is it the emission standards that are making you get rid of them? I only say that because all of our newer trucks (Euro 6 - DAF, Volvo and MAN) seem to be very problematic. They're all on an R&M contract. Shame to see you get rid of these, but be nice to see their new replacements. Take care

Brilliant video, brilliant editing, really enjoyed seeing what it’s like driving a truck. Over €1000 for fuel, how many miles /km would you get out of that? Great walk around on the trucks
I still vividly remember the overnight tour when the diesel price had gone over 1 euro when I got back to the depot in the morning.I felt guilty that I should have filled it right up the night before.
Scania is Scania,🚛💪 even with this high mileage, they are still great for the job.🤔

Well done Stavros!!! Anyway they look both in nice condition after 14yrs and over a million of kilometres, and also the engine sound is good. I hope to begin to look for a used R450 chassis for my business, after the lockdown here in Italy. Crossed fingers

Wow ! Great video of your daily life. So far here in the US cops don't really bother everyone , I think they afraid to get out of the car. Lot's of weight and inspection station are closed, since this madness. Fuel price are drop here a lot, average $2.10/gallon for diesel. Keep on trucking and be safe.

No no. Think of all the garbage that the manufacturers put on there.
At every car change, "one must" increase at least one size in engine power!
Tex, speed limiter, exhaust gas purification, etc.
In addition, the fuel is deteriorating, all the time!
These are factors that have a negative impact.

Just out of interest as I don’t work in the HGV industry, who usually buys the older wagons once the bigger firms sell them on?
Smaller companies will buy the trucks usually once the big companies are done after 4-5yrs, after that when the trucks are around 10yrs old they get exported. South America, Africa mostly buy them. Lot of old English trucks end up in Malta and Cyprus too.
