Shannon, I love your recaps. I work evenings into early morning so I never have time to watch weekday games. These videos are so important to me, helping me keep up with the league. Keep it going boss
Nothing tastes better than victory. Seriously Shannon said it play any style of hockey and the jets can match you. For me the Whelp moment was seeing Toronto up 3/4 goal goals against the jets, and the Mattthews/Marner visibly being apprehensive because they just poked the bear. Were now that team you don't want to upset to early in a game, because we'll release the onslaught.
I had posted this on another video but i think it applies here. Very well.managed game by LA on a back to back game. They played a very systematic game till the last quarter of the 2nd then with the break coming up they poured it on North/South. Scored, drew a penalty and scored again on the PP. Played the 3rd systematic till about the last 8 minutes then poured it on again with the games end nearing and scored multiple times. Very good energy conservation and can come home and rest for Vancouver on Thursday.
The Ball Arena team did a good job keeping the crowd entertained. I knew it was a long pause and we were talking about what they could be talking about now after they waived it off, but the vibe was still fun and the building stayed active. Probably helped that it ended up being a goal though lol
A doctor who looks at sports injuries on TH-cam looked at how Holloway got hurt. Based on where he got hit, he said the most likely scenarios were a “Stinger” which in case someone doesn’t know is effectively a shot that hits a nerve cluster. The other, and this one seems most likely, is that where he got hit, there’s an artery and some surrounding parts that I can’t remember what they’re called, but in layman’s terms, pressure in that area can lead the body to believe you have high blood pressure. This causes your blood vessels to open up, which in turn drops blood pressure. This is a delayed reaction, which would explain why he was able to finish his shift with no real difficulty. Then his blood pressure goes down. The good news is the doctor said this is a very temporary thing and shouldn’t be of any real alarm unless the artery gets damaged. So unless that happened he’ll probably be back playing before too much longer. The trip to the hospital was probably, and I stress probably, just precautionary in case there was any spinal injury.
Yeah. Looked like the puck hit the Vagus nerve, which caused all that to happen. Adrenaline can overcome it for a little bit, but once he started to calm down, boom
The Holloway situation was strange. I saw the replay of what happened and the Blues feed had a camera on him after he was struck. He got hit with the shot but kept playing and nothing seemed out of the ordinary for a good 15-20 seconds until as he was coming towards the bench for a line change, he started grabbing at his neck as he was about to go through the door to the bench. Then the Blues trainer started to tend to him after he sat down. The Blues said that he's breathing normally and his windpipe wasn't damaged. His parents were in town and went with him to the hospital.
@@Chimponautfortunately that’s definitely not what happened, as airway compromise could have been imminently fatal. He had a vasovagal reaction, which is a far more benign (and quite common) hemodynamic response to a neurogenic stimulus. Glad he’s ok!
I swear, whenever CBJ has a game where they have like 50 some shots, they always lose because the other goalie decides to play like its the Stanley cup final.
Death. Taxes. And the Jackets getting absolutely Goalie’d by teams. “I’ve never seen (insert name here) play this well in net in years!” CBJ fans are used to hearing that
I used to drscribe Necas as Bambi because he was always spinning around on the ice trying to draw calls that - let's be honest - for a variety of reasons, he was never going to get. This year he is staying on his feet and trusting his talent to win out. The majority of his entries and zone possession is on the left side, which also makes a difference. He just has a lot more room to outskate on his natural side, and his shot from the left circle, while not Ovi/Stamkos level, is good enough to make him much more effective off the puck than in prior years.
Lmao Flames win it in overtime then at 8:57 apparently Montreal won it. Thanks for all the hard work, not mad just thought it was funny because I thought I was going nuts when I first heard that.
SEA is actually 5-8-1… So they win the challenge, lose the challenge and they make it look like Bednar got to be the extra on ice official 😂 I get it was overall the correct call, but it was confusing the way it was executed. Also ,I didn’t know you can do another review once Toronto has ruled on it (correct or not). Learned something new.
Ha ha...I've been watching that Vancouver box score and it changed back to Hughes then back to Pettersson just while watching this video. Just bloody give him the assist already! It's currently Pettersson...fingers crossed!
Congratulations to Conno Hellereiter for getting both the first _and_ second star of the game. Just a real performance for the ages, but I guess that's what you get when you play forward and goalie simultaneously.
25:45 No they dont they just kinda dont care to correct north americans and then someone comes along and pronounces their name correctly you're all confused for no reason.
The Hurricanes have a bad habbit of skill matching the other team. This was a bad game for the Canes. But not for a few Canes. Necas, Martinook and Burns were the Canes best players. Necas is on fire. 7th win in a row for the Canes.
Another Jets win but I was expecting Comrie to start tonight. The schedule now gets more difficult with Colorado, Dallas, NYR, Tampa Bay & then Forida twice. I doubt they'd start Comrie for any of those games.
Coronato was not about to let the refs fuck over the Flames again. They still played sloppy at times, and their PP is beyond atrocious, but it was nice to see them actually beat a team below them in the standings

With the garbage fest going on down south, it's nice to have this to break it up. Thanks as always, Shannon 👍 Leafs finally getting it done on the powerplay 🙌
All those hockey games were a good distraction for what was going on in politics south of the border.... and so my Jets played once more and they just find a way to win every single game. I'm not under any illusion that this industrious start will mean no losses going forward but man, it's sure fun to watch them doing this! It was not an easy out either. Vejmelka made the boys work for every goal (other than the empty net one). Anyhow, thanks Shannon for the great breakdowns once again. And to my Jets, keep up the great work!
Wasn't a great distraction for me living on the East Coast in the US and being a Sharks fan which by the time I started the game already had lost hope in the election. But at least the Sharks gave me some positive feelings to close out the night. Thought for sure in the 3rd it was gonna turn into a game where Sharks have the lead but get trapped in are own zone the entire time and end up giving up 2 or more goals and the game. But Vanecek said not today and put the team on his back until Wennberg could finally end it.
I thought TSN had the 3 stars in the Flames game as Coronato (1), Zary (2), and Armia (3). Does Sportsnet just not mention the three stars anymore? Scoring is way up this year, as of November 6, 2024, a total of 1276 goals scored. As of November 6, 2023, 1124 goals had been scored. Cheers.
with the number of games going on, I don't think Shannon takes the time to watch the post-match stuff w/ the stars n all, just switches to the ongoing games
I think sometimes a broadcaster picks its own stars. I remember watching a Jets game once, play play team said something like, I don't who picked the stars tonight but we're picking our own, cause I don't think they even watched the game 😂
Toronto PPG better without Mattthew WTH . WTH going with Colorado 2 offside challenged I TORONTO VIDEO GUY WERE HAPPY TO BREAK LOSING SKID IN REG WIN TO BRUIN WHICH STOP AT 8.
Boston, man... just keep letting those errors and bad plays creep back into your game. Matthews was out of the lineup and you get shutout. You let up almost all of the goals shorthanded, you pull sway down by 3 and boop right in the net. I'm tired. this team needs to figure out a way to minimize their mistakes and penalty time.
Why is nobody talking about the Canes or Marty Necas????? 7 wins in a row. 9-0-1 in last 10 games. McNecas is on fire!!!!! But all the hockey talking heads are showing no love for the Canes or Necas.
Was anyone else screaming at the colour commentator after the weird coaches challenge in the Avs gams? Even John Forslund had to tell him to stfu in a polite way. He just wouldn’t stop yapping.

Amazing what adding a 200ft honey badger like Lehkonen does to a lineup. Didn’t appear to have any rust which was surprising.
At this rate, Winnipeg will clinch a playoff spot by Christmas.

What's strange about it? It probably swelled up from the impact, and the swelling caused his windpipe to close.
Best guess so far seems to be the hit caused a blood pressure drop. He should be OK, but with a neck injury they're not going to take any chances.

Interesting statistical coincidence: the Jets' winning percentage, at .923, is identical to Hellebuyck's save percentage, also a .923.
