How would you decide between the weighted swimbait or a swim jig?

The swimbait is more natural looking and weedless than a swim jig, so Cliff favors its use on calm, sunny days where visibility is better, in clearer water, and around heavy cover that fouls your swim jig. The "natural entry" deal is pretty cool, too -- you can cast a Texas-rigged belly-weighted swimbait into the edge of bank cover, then gently pull it into the water for the "natural entry."

I like the swimbait application alot. I guess I’m in the minority with rod power tho. Heavy is way to heavy for me. A medium power rod is my goto

I was fishing weighted swimbaits before they were a thing. I fish a lot of gin clear water. Natural and finesse is a must to catch quality fish. I used rubber core weights clamped on to the hook.

Is it better to use this swimbait with a texas rig? Whats the difference?

When Texas rigging with a belly weight, the weight on the shank of the hook can damage the plastic to the point where it doesn't stay on the hook well or for very long so the screw lock is a way of keeping the body intact and giving the bait longevity.
