both sounded nice for different reasons, but I very much preferred the Alder with whatever the control variables were in the comparison. (amp, settings, pickups etc...) The Ash had a very nice low end, and I could tell it was a louder guitar acoustically, but had too much of a "hi-fi" quality in direct comparison if that makes sense. The Alder had a very nice mids.
The alder body (black) sounded a lot richer in overtones than the ash (blue). Alder sounded like the notes "breathe" for much longer and the mids are very prominent. The ash sounded more trebley and punchy. Kinda like the notes are immediate bangs on a bell that ring loudly and bright, but don't sustain as much. Both are great woods, but i'd say that at least for me, alder is a better all around sound wood. I have an american strat deluxe 2006 with ash and a maple fretboard. WAY TOO BRIGHT!
Purple rain,,, Purrrrple rain, Hysteria , Cause we ended as Lovers, Gypsy Road then I thought I heard Panama but it wasn't... I find alder to be the safer choice across the tonal spectrum for covering all music styles... Ash is full of surprises it could be great for a country sound spank pop or something else brought out by players technique.... Both are decent for a strat/tele type guitar on 25.5 scale length... Also pickups, amp and strings make a drastic change in tone...
I guess from some of the comments below it shows that we are not world leaders when it comes to having some class. BTW nice playing and I don't really have to understand your language to get usefull info from this video. it is about the sound after all isn't it.
@jmj5150 you are going to forgive me? what a powerful man I'm realy strucked... as I read, you think that european countries are from the 3rd country... you are really smart! It is true that I don't spell well your language, but I am able to express my self. Are you with mine or any other? Te puedo hablar en castellano, edo ta euskaraz nahi ba duzu, tambem posso falar em portugues, et an francé ausi, et toi?

I liked the alder more in clean, but they sounded quite similar in overdrive imo.
alder & ash are both great woods for bass & guitar, it all depends on the individual musician which he or she perfers to use on certain music! '=Oj
