    Class act. I just found out why he stopped wearing all of his gold jewelry:
    "He stopped wearing virtually all his gold, one of his identifying marks, after helping with the cleanup after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. He said, "As a Christian, when I saw other people lose their lives and lose their land and property ... I felt that it would be a sin before God for me to continue wearing my gold. I felt it would be insensitive and disrespectful to the people who lost everything, so I stopped wearing my gold."

      @@djsvrlaivwfofj he thinks that Mr. T found it amusing but Mr.T's body language is tense. This interview took place in a time where it was highly likely and expected that a black man could be invited on a show and be side lined in favor of something stupid or silly. He WAS mad, he was mad that his time meant so little to them that they side lined him in favor of 'elevator races.' The whole interview was tense because they'd slighted him on the previous request to have him out. He came out to the 2nd request because like he said all his interview money was going to help others so he showed up fully expecting to be side lined and disrespected again.

    Mr.T has always been an outstanding role model. People talk about him going broke but he took all the money he made and used it to help people. All of his shows he never drank liquor. A-Team when they'd slip him a Mickey to get him into the air, it was always in Milk. When he had that P.I. show back in the day He didn't Drink, he always drank milk.
    Long time ago in that movie D.C. Cab he was always about something positive for the kids in the Neighborhood. Rather than look up to the Neighborhood Pimp. So much respect for the man.

    Letterman tried to make a spectacle of him, I have respect for Letterman as a TV icon but he definitely tried to stigmatize Mr. T as a "scary", "violent" black guy. Nothing out of the ordinary for a non person of color in the media to do at the time. Yet, T did not let him mis-characterize or make a mockery of him, he demanded respect and attained it. This is truly inspirational.

    • @axgreenious9400
      @axgreenious9400 6 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Roni Brito I didn’t get Letterman calling him scary because of his skin color. I believe Dave was referencing T’s persona from Rocky III as a outspoken boxer who schooled Rocky. If T was white, letterman would had stated the same thing due to T’s character acting like a badass.
