Don’t be jealous of success he’s doing well so we should all congratulate anyone who does. He puts a lot of time and effort into videos and tutorials and doesn’t have to. He’s always addressing his fans and asking their opinions. You get that with any other big name DJS? Just my opinion and that’s what I base it on :)
@@chrisbee379 I'm not jealous of his success, just not a fan of everything that he does. Carl Cox is a much better example of someone down to earth. +I massively prefer DJs have a bit more mystery about them, not putting themselves out there on Socials. Let your music do the talking.
@@ErickT_MXmad how people think he just came from nowhere , Maurice made some great tracks , probably more popular one is the cascada remix with hard well 🔥
Hi mate I’m a disabled dj from the UK (I use my chin & mouth to mix) & just wanted to say the whole playing differently thing is really what made me become a fan of yours, I truly believe that technical ability is something that makes us stand out in a time where anyone can play, I’ve managed to get sets at some big venues including the Bootshaus but never truly “made it”, seeing you stay true to yourself is inspirational, I’m coming to Ibiza in September so hopefully I’ll get to come say hello at one of your shows
You’re my inspiration. I started watching your TH-cam a year ago, and 2 weeks ago I bought my first pioneer controller - opus quad, and then I bought 2 courses from digital Dj tips - Dj + producer Love them so far… you literally inspired me into that
2:04 My question, thank u James! I feel like youre a different version of yourself each year, and I love seeing you change over the years! Got a lot of good memories of 2022, 2023 was the year I really learned everything from you and 2024 I got to go my own path. You’re always be the man that changed me. Thank u! You ROCK❤️🔥
SOLID ADVICE!!!!! James is by far the best in the industry!!!! and by best and all around in DJing, producing, interacting with fans, down to earth person, etc.... he's not even peaked in his career. I'm enjoying this journey, I hope everyone else is.
The fact that you feel James like a buddy who have been in your life since you was born blows my mind. I love the way that you do thing James, the connection here is real. More than just real Djing...
If I knew James Hype 20yrs ago I would be a billioner..the advices that he gives and the way how he is interacting with fans is priceless, especially for those who wanna become successful in music...
Truly an inspiration to DJ's and Producers alike. I really enjoy being able to get a view on what the life of a touring artist looks like to put in the effort night in and night out performing, executing, and delivering perfectly clever sets out of songs that strike nostalgia + awe. You have completely changed the way I think of DJ'ing and my approach. Thank you so much, and can't wait to see you in LA some time soon (going up to San Francisco in October). #HYPEFAM
These insights are what the music world has been missing!! Just a bunch of mates working hard, touring the world, all while having a laugh, love it!! 🙌
How to be a successful DJ? *Hard*. *Graft*. I've been watching your videos since 2020. Your music might not be for everybody. But nobody can doubt your work ethic. Cultivating a skill set, a profile, and a social media following, takes time and consistent effort. Well done on making it.
James you're a humble geeza! Very talented and grounded! I usually listen/mix hip hop/dnb/garage/open format/lot of underground stuff, but you have got me more interested in House! Genre doesn't really matter as long as it's good music! Food for the soul!
James I really appreciate your modesty, you are so open and honest in sharing your experiences, great that such a "big guy" like you wants to be with your crowd in a QA. Thx for sharing ❤
😮this is great James. Ty for letting us ask questions. I started GJ djing when I was 15. in New York. my first I had two techniques 1200 turntables and realistic mixer, which is RadioShack. It was awesome. I learned how to DJ myself nobody taught me. My first gig was a smash and I appreciate everybody telling me that this is great.
03:30 best answer ever! So true, the more you let your instincts (core) make your artistic sound decisions, the more you will define "your" style. It's easier said than done, but is the concept
I watch every set you do and I am always amazed how you entertain every time ,thank you for that. In this video you’re right you must do what makes you happy do what you know is right. Thank you James for always being you. I have many music genres I like but you have taken to the next level for me😊😊😊😊
Fascinating insight James, but if I may ask, how do you deal with some of the other potential hazards of being a professional DJ (chronic exposure to loud music, epileptic lighting, irregular work schedule?)
Hey James, amazing video! Just on the "Finding your own sound", In my personal opinion, I think it IS really imporant to listen and analyze other artists tracks and learn from them. You can still find your own sound and improve at the sime time. Anyways, you are an inspiration, thanks!
James, thank you man, like really thank you, I’ve seen you play twice always a good time! Unfortunately I missed your Minneapolis set a week or two ago 😭 I had other things going on. But really thank you man, I just put in an order for a DDJ FLX4 and MD 40D speakers, growing up I’ve been wanting to dj, up to when I was in high school, I made a couple mixes through an old iMac I got with a free DJ program, but living with a mom who would only want me to do something other than DJ cause I wouldn’t make music, now that I’m older, I started learning from some friends and I really find it so fun to do! I can fully say that watching you and your videos and the advice you share has helped me come out of my shell and finally do this. Thanks man!
You forgot to mention a mentor brother. DJ, Producer, TH-camr, Mentor. You help others. I also love how you listens to lots of different music. Your content is cool I like watching it and I’ve learned some cool stuff from you brother. ❤️❤️❤️
Love sunsets too! "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands." Love your amazing music & DJ sets! And an amazing interview, wisdom that can be applied to any area of life and creativity. Thank you! Keep on keeping on!
Interesting fact James - sunsets trigger a dopamine response in humans. Same happens when you see a sunrise. From a DJ/crowd perspective, sunrise and sunset - invariably amazing vibes because of that - subject to actually being able to see the sun.
Mau P back before 2019 was one of the best Big Room (mainstage) producers around, he had multiple appearances on Tomorrowland mainstage being invited out. I saw his sets back then as Maurice and he was so sick! Also met him once, humble guy and took the time to have a chat and pic 👍
Thank you James for your honesty and integrity it really shines through on this video. Now go back to your apartment and enjoy that sunset! Who does this! 🌅 🌊 🎧💻🎹

i'm an urban DJ primarily playing hiphop etc but i have to say you make the best DJ content on TH-cam! reminds me of the old Skrillex bts videos but much better!
I love how you did not judge Mau P for not replying. It’s humbling. I don’t know Mau P, but, it’s so fitting to how you bode. That little bit you said about him, says a ton about you. Beautiful 💪🏻
9:25 especially helpful for me. I really like taking videos of myself live-performing mashups or similar i've come up with, but then often wonder "Hey should i really upload this to my instagram? What if they hate it...". Awesome tip, will upload a lot now. thank you
James I think the reason everyone likes you is your so down to earth. That’s a great quality you don’t let fame go to your head. But I love your sets.
not the only reason, but definitely a big up
Down to earth? His ego is enormous. Fame is slowly completely going to his head.
Don’t be jealous of success he’s doing well so we should all congratulate anyone who does. He puts a lot of time and effort into videos and tutorials and doesn’t have to. Personal choice of course :)
To be fair: Mau P used to be well known in the Big Room scene as Maurice West collabing with Hardwell, W&W etc.
In other words, he know well the core of music biz so was easy to start again with tons of connections and knowledge
What??? Mau P is Maurice West???
