I have quite a few of Wenders films and like every one I've seen. He has a way of filming his movies that are unique and I find entrancing. Just watched Perfect Days without knowing anything about it other than it was a Wenders film and I was not disappointed. If someone told me to see a movie about a guy who cleans toilets I would have rolled my eyes, but Wenders has a way of making this a thoroughly enjoyable film 😀
Was lucky to catch this at a local theater, loved it, still one of the better films ive seen this year. My barnes n noble order should arrive in a few weeks
Hi James. Thanks for the great review of this release. I enjoyed this film very much in the theater last year but decided to hold off adding this title until the November sale. I'd love to see Wim Wenders in your Directors series at some point.
Hi James. Picked up Perfect Days on Amazon near the end of the B&N sale (it was 50% off). Really looking forward to watching. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the film.
Hello, Dave! Glad you enjoyed the review and hope you get a chance to check out your copy of Perfect Days soon. Look forward to hearing what you think of it!
So you got the blu-ray, not the 4k I assume. I also noticed the blu-ray dropped to 50% off latter part of July. The 4k never dropped below 34.99 during July sale on Amazon.
Ozu has become as essential to me as any filmmaker in any language or time. This film was such a great tribute to him, as well as a great film in its own right.
Thanks for the review James. The way you describe this film it reminds me so much of Still Walking which is a great film. Might have to do some last minute shopping! 😂 Take care.
I’m not usually one for minimalist films but I really love this one, the music, the performances, the cinematography, the vibe, the relatabity. Still waiting for my order to arrive
A masterpiece and wonderfully acted and directed with an observational hand. To go with this film I highly recommend another film with Koji Yakusho Japanese from early 90s called Shall We Dance. It's available online or Miramax released it on DVD. It was remade in the US with Richard Gere. Paris Texas is a high recommend as you said.
I've been trying to add this to my cart for entire month, unsuccessfully. Barnes and Noble still out of stock online along with Bound 4k which I also badly want, and Amazon has both in stock but will not price match. I've stated this in another video of yours, but still have to vent:) Enticing review James, but just makes the aggravation more intense🤔 As for Wenders, I love all the films mentioned but my fav is Until the End of the World. Enjoyed, thanks.
I saw this film and enjoyed it but decided to not pick it up as I don’t see myself ever rewatching it unfortunately. Saw several people on Reddit were really excited for this.

Yes, Wenders takes a subject matter that sounds like it wouldn’t be that interesting and manages to do something special with it.

Is a BN store ordering it for you for pick up? Barnes and Noble online does not allow me to back order.
Excellent. Hope you enjoy your copy when you receive it, Daniel!
Just picked this up today! Great film probably my favorite of the year
One of the best films I've seen in the last couple of years. So good.

Glad you enjoyed the review, island007100, and thanks for the idea of adding Wenders to the director spotlight series!

Agreed. This is a film I see myself returning to soon. Such a beautiful film and love letter to Ozu and Japan by Wenders.

It does have Still Walking vibes along with Ozu as well.
That’s great. Sounds like my kind of movie.
Glad to hear you enjoyed the review, F V!

I hope you enjoy your copy when it comes in. Beautiful film and looks terrific on 4K.

Thanks for the recommendation on Shall We Dance!
WINGS 4k is an amazing upgrade. Read up on the transfer. I am assuming your Blu-ray is an older release.
Ok, you got me thinking about it for the November sale :)
