    Fun fact: Harsha and Niemann both ragequit the tournament after losing in this round, open tournaments are a nightmare for GMs with 2600+, they’re not that much better than their opponents as they should be by rating

    • @johnwhelan9663
      @johnwhelan9663 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Maybe they just quit. If it is really a rating-strategy nightmare, then it might be the rational choice, rage or no.

    • @KnightToRemember

      @@johnwhelan9663 Everyone knows Open tournaments aren’t good to win rating when you’re the top seed, they’re doing it for the prizes and maybe because they have fun when things go right, when things go wrong and you lose contention for prizes however tournaments are a nightmare, I can tell you they didn’t quit because they lost rating, they quit because they felt they were playing at a much worse level than usual and they’re not in the mood to play good chess and destroy the last opponent

    • @johnwhelan9663

      @@KnightToRemember If he is doing it for the prizes, then it might make rational sense to drop out after a defeat. Especially since he is not going to be paired with top seeds in the final rounds, and, according to you, that is a rating danger. He might take into account many other considerations, including the simple fact that he is not playing well.

      @@johnwhelan9663 how i hate rating strategy.
      By definition rating was introduced to show +- correctly relative players strength. If 2600 can't win 2300, he is fake 2600.
      Still good that chess don't have boosting (relative strong guys who boosting accounts to noob for money) and smurfing (relative strong guys creating account and predenting to be much weaker, to humiliate much weaker players) idiots.

    Up a peace, and a pawn at the end of the line is probably to much of an advantage. Granted that she’s the lower rated player by almost 300 points it’s super impressive. I always wonder how grandmasters be losing games against lower rated opponents.? My perspective is that chess has not been figured out yet. I mean we have chess engines these days supercomputers that can predict the best moves and outcomes of a given position in a line. It’s still up to a human being to make those moves in a game played against another human. This is the reason I love chess. Like Hans just so happens to review a line Magnus plays before playing against him, and won by pure coincidence. If you underestimate your opponent, and fall into their preparation only playing with engine like precision might get you a draw.

    the way you just blow through these five syllable names is lovely and so respectful to the fact that Chess has always been a sport for everyone. Reminds me of the great Liam Dutton: th-cam.com/video/fHxO0UdpoxM/w-d-xo.html

    It's consistency though. Female GMs can have the odd great game against male GMs and win but over many games they have a losing score hence the rating disparity.
