Metro passes are holy.
don't eat out. (well, sometimes do)
Baked and wired is WAY better then Georgetown Cupcake.
bikes are the best way to get around.
Do the tourist stuff (it's fun even as a local)
be on time.
go to the little towns inside the Beltway (there fun and cute!!)
Alexandria is super fun!!

as someone who wants to pursue art and feels the need to explain myself at every turn, I'd say just keep in mind that, without art, there won't be your newspaper infographics, TV animations, comic books, stamps, and so many other things! Art is everywhere, you just need to look at the aspects you want to pursue, parents can be narrow minded but as long as you keep dreaming you can formulate good plans for yourself, just wait and see :)

aahh.. before, I used to be ashamed when people called me the "artsy girly" because it wasn't as "cool" as everyone's standards of "cool".
my classmates would always think of art as just painting, but they never will understand because of there obsession with tiktok, and "trends".
now watching your videos, and the art aspect growing to be more popular these days, makes me feel sooo happy that I am not the only one to be called the "artsy girly" :)
