I can’t thank you enough for not color grading. Many reviewers just change color to their taste. Makes it difficult to gauge the camera’s potential, at least to hobbyists like me.
I am new to videography and own a beginner canon mirrorless. I appreciate the non graded video too. I got my canon for the color but this video out of the box is really pleasing to see. Wow!

This is pretty exciting but the lack of an EVF is painful. But like you hinted, they probably wouldn't make this new sensor if they weren't going to put it in more cameras. Here's to hoping for the a7000 series.
I'm sure its coming within the next 12 months. Although I wouldn't be surprised if its not called an a7000. My guess is that they'll use the a7c body for it, and call it the a70c or something.
I bought a ZV-E10 last year primarily for video, but have been loving it for both stills and video. So far I enjoy the APSC format (and the smaller size/weight) so down the road I would love to have a successor to the A6600 to tempt me into an upgrade. This new camera is exciting though, so looking forward to see what else we can get from Sony for APSC cameras.

The a7000 will probably have the new 40mp that in the fuji XH2.

Proof a proper filming session is worth many test benches, when the operator knows what to do, how to handle, what to film, how to adjust and set.

Ha ha I just bought an FX3 last week! Thanks to B&H for telling me - even when I asked specifically If there was a new camera coming out soon. I own quite a few APS-C lenses, but only one full frame Tamron 28-200. I was considering returning the FX3 for this camera, but I'm going to roll with it. Thank you Arthur, for another great video, you provide so much value with your videos.
Ha ha I returned the FX3 and bought the FX30! I got a 15mm lens, as well as the handle and Allstate insurance...all for Thousands less!

Awesome as usual. I guess a little more the bottom of the cinema line than a flagship for the APS-C users, but it looks like bright days ahead for APS-C.

I'm rooting for GH6 but here comes the AF which Sony FX30 has to offer with almost same capability as the former that got me halted to buy it. I shoot documentary, run and gun style, 1 man team most of the time.
This camera & the review both are incredible. I think it's the perfect time for me to upgrade my camera from sony a6400 to sony FX30.

What do you think for a channel focusing on talking head / b-roll product shots in relatively low light... could this little camera be good enough (for my channel) OR do you think a full-frame sensor on say, a a7c or a7iv be THAT much better? I recently lbought the Canon r6 but was just disappointed with the lack of video features. Color science shmulor science!
Now that Sony downsized a FX3 to the Fx30 I really hope they do the same with the A7SIII and I may consider going back to APSC!
Just came across my mind that this camera sits face to face to Canon C200/C300 that are so much more expensive so thank you Sony for that!

I shoot on the a7r ii for commercial photography but I want to upgrade my video side of things and the FX30 looks to be the best camera out there for cost Vs quality

The footage you've captured looks amazing. Love the colours straight out of this camera! I'd say the results are 90% Jenessa and 10% Sony ;) Would love to know what lens you used for the footage and have you tried it with the catalyst browse stabilization instead of physical gimbal. I'm sure you have some more comparison vids in the works.

That was straight out of camera?! Woah! Great footage and well edited with music. I have an A7iii. Love it for photo but I really want to start creating videos for my business and family. A7iii is very capable in the right hands I know. But, this FX30 just seems like a camera that you can dive into and I love the form factor and features. Except….that electronic shutter 💁🏻♂️ I need photo capabilities for business and family and I think I’d get frustrated with the FX30. Wish I could have both haha. A7iv seems like the smart choice for me but I really do like this little FX30.

The camera looks amazing, just like fx3. My only gripe is Highlight rolloff of this camera is a bit lacking. IF you look at Fuji xh2s, that camera somehow has more pleasing image imo. But thats just my thoughts.
1) What are its aspect ratios? 2) What millimeter lens did you use for your demo? 3) Did you use any ND or Black Pro Mist filters on your lens? and 4) Please do night shots and interiors--so that we can see the camera's capabilities in low lighting situations?
there is real scope for this as a camera for the indie film circuit, the setup costs would be significantly lower and potentially open up avenues in the downloadable film/TV market to people entering the field. I can see it being on my hit list for the near future as part of my own work.

This rig is going to sell like bonkers. I hope they put together a fast zoom lens package that I like. Heck, with 14 bit stills capture, this might be my next "do-everything" camera.

I know it’s a Cinema Camera but does it have any stills capabilities? Because it would be awesome to have a one camera that does it all. Maybe even put on an aftermarket EVF for stills!
Even though I don't usually shoot video, I am intrigued because it is finally a Sony Alpha APS-C that has a front and a back wheel. I was always hoping for a kind of "inverted A7C": an A6500 in an A7 body (for the more ergonomic controls) and this might be the closest thing I'll ever get. But I am not yet convinced if it is a sensible choice for 99% photography use. Please give us a look into the photography chops this thing has!

Does 1080p 120fps have crop too? If yes, then is it same as 4k 120fps? None of the reviewers mentioned this!

Yes. This camera makes harder for most people to invest into R7 considering Sony is cheaper, better video spec, tonnes of first party and third party lens

I wanna be excited ... 4k60, aps-c, ibis, 10 bit, dual card slots ... but then I remembered the x-t4 is like $1100 used. I think if you are in the sony ecosystem- this camera is a game changer. I think new buyers can get a lot more ROI in fuji world especially if they need to take stills too.
Plus the 1080p quality is awesome in Fuji (I do still need it)

I own an A7iii and Sigma 35 1.4 used on MC11 . I was keen on doing video in the camera by buying some lenses for the full frame , however, the autofocus sound from the lens and the lack of 4k 60p is thinking me to upgrade. Would it be a wise choice to go for FX30 considering its price point ? Also i may be using 20 to 25% of what the camera is capable of.

What weight with battery?
This camera only makes sense if you are coming from an APSC Sony. For those that have full frame cameras and glass it makes sense to go with the a7iv.
Yeah, I think Sony is saying they will keep taking care of both camps of customers and catering to mobile users that want something more professional but not ready to pay for full frame cameras and glass.
