A true legend! I played for Gordon at a solo competition in Copenhagen, totally messed up, but he couldn't have been more of a gent about it. Had the privilege of his company for the weekend that we were there, and he was a total scream!
To think Gordon was actually a passenger in my car once - when he came down to London to give a recital for the Scottish Piping Society of London. The music was sheer magic ! And I got to give Gordon a lift to his hotel afterwards. Music Royalty !!!
Played with Gordy in Dougie Mclean's band in the mid/ late 80s and we became good friends. I cant begin to say how sad it was to lose him. . .a really fine and good lad and one of the best musicians I ever played with in that genre, truly world class. . RIP Gordon, your tunes will make you immortal my friend.

Me parece un documental extraordinario, y justo tributo a Gordon Duncan. Uno de los mejores gaiteros del mundo junto con Fred Morrison. Fue una pérdida lamentable, pero nos quedan las melodías de este Maestro Gaitero, que nos inspiran a todos.
+José Manuel Era una trajedia singular, pero en eso hay que tomar en cuenta que los raices de ella se encuentran en la cultura propia. A los músicos siempre se les dan mas tragos aunque sea la carrera de su destrucción inevitable. Ojalá que entre sus aficionados no fuera ni uno que le ofrecía verdadera auxilio en vez de alcohol. Por lo menos mereció un oficio mas digno que lo de basurero.

"Tha an saoghal fhathast àlainn ged nach eil thu ann" - The world is still beautiful though you are not in it. "Cha till me tuille" - MacCrimmon's Lament. Someday someone will dare produce a movie on the life of the legendary and yet tragic Gordon Duncan. May be we are not ready yet to make the journey.
