Thank you Ken, for opening up your layout/workshop/studio to those of us on the NMRA tour (I’m the one waving to the camera while walking up the driveway)! It was great meeting you and Holly, James Regier, Mike Budde, Joshua Barton and later on, George Bogatiuk. Emma and James from New Zealand, and Miguel from Chile were pretty cool! As you say, it’s the best hobby, with the best people in it! And thanks for the hat!
Epic show guys! Really enjoyed watching show 205, love the banter and the atmosphere from watching the show and feels like you really there in the audience also I do live close to the West Coast Main Line between London and Glasgow in England as Norman mentioned, 30 minute walk from my house to the nearest train station on the West Coast Main Line.
Another great show, unfortunately I didn't make NMRA Convention as I was in UK last week. Always good to hear you mention British Outline particularly OO Scale.
It was awesome to see everyone! I was @ the N.MR.A. model train show in Collinsville,Illinois Saturday & talked to "Goalie George" & showed me the system! Thanks to James, Josh, Mike, and especially Ken for welcoming us into his home and layout during the NMRA. It was great to see how the sausage is made. Also many thanks to Austin Allard and Campbell Rice who watched trains with me at Kirkwood. Great video, at it was fantastic to have Miguel (my friend) from Chile there, hope to see you guys any time soon¡¡ Keep on going with your great show and tutorials¡¡¡
Was registered and had flights booked to do the 2020 convention but we all know what happened. Should have had a layout at the Birmingham (UK) convention for this year but that was also cancelled. Was hoping to have been in St Louis this time but maybe next years convention in Texas. I will have my layout 'Santa Barbara' at the NMRABR convention in November this year.
I would love it if the communications protocol for the Blunami could be open sourced. It would be great to get lots of throttle options, like the TCS throttle or the Proto throttle, that could work with the Blunami. DCC didn't take off until Lenz basically gave their communication protocol to the NMRA and open to all. I think the same thing can happen with Bluetooth if the protocol is made open.
Ken & the WNTW crew~, What a fantastic show this week! There is something magical about having all those great modelers in one show. (It's like being at a train club or something). I just love seeing all the great new products and Man!, the Soundtraxx and TCS products were fantastic to see and hear about and who doesn't like a Diecast Miniatures heavy equipment piece? It's so nice to see & meet all the visiting modelers from all over (I say meet because I feel like I was there and met them as well).:) What a Neat Show This Week Ken~ Thanx Thom...
Yes and no. The NCE consisting system still involves rewriting certain CVs to instruct locomotives how to behave (what commands to respond to, what commands to ignore, etc.) in their consisted address. However, you can't simply call an individual locomotive from the consist up and expect it to behave as an individual locomotive without first breaking the consist. The consisting models used by TCS UWT throttles and now by Soundtraxx actually call the locomotives up as individuals, then, without altering any CVs, they filter the commands so that they send signals such as blow horn, turn on lights, ring bell, etc., to the lead unit's address, but not the others. So far that the locomotives and their individual decoders are concerned, they receiving commands as independent, un-consisted locomotives.
@@JamesRegiersModels Seems like I just enter consist add them to a consist and I'm done with NCE. Not much else needed to be done on my part. Also the consist is stored in the command station. This way any operator can pick up one of my 12 throttles and access any one of the 35 plus consist on the layout and in the staging yards. The consist is not tied to the throttle. The Consist is it tied to the actual operating layout. Any one of our guest can bring in their throttle connect to the layout and access anyone of the prebuilt consist sitting in staging or on the layout. Our I can use the consist number for those units up to 127 and take them to another layout. place it on any other brand of DCC enter the consist number (Not the engine number) and it works.
@@IMRROcom Yes, though I have experienced the problem of having consisted at home on my NCE layout, taken my consist to a friend's layout and not being able to run it. Or bringing my locos to a friend's layout, consisting them there, and having to hit the programming track when I bring my consist back home again. That's what I'm saying. TCS and now Soundtraxx are now both offering consisting methods that are independent of layout and highly customizable. It's a different animal from what we have seen before. I suppose the UWT-100 is approaching two years old by now, but still. The locomotives are consisted from the throttle and sent selective commands simultaneously., but as far as the locomotives and their decoders are concerned, they've never been consisted at all.
I’d encourage you to try one in person. Decoders Sounds replicated through mics will not show the accuracy of the sounds over the rp. Also, I doubt consisting is that much easier. This is 2 button consisting. And. These are fully DCC capable based on the award winning Tsunami2. And no added expensive throttle to buy.. but you do you.. 😉 Thanks for watching!
