    This is a good sign for both of you. Maybe the Cinderella story will happen for the Bengals. Last famous player I knew for the Bengals was Boomer Esiason. My team is Tom Brady (Pat's, Bucs). After them I like Chiefs, then Bills, Vikings, and Eagles in that order. I'm rooting for the Bengals this Superbowl. Go Burrow and Chase! Ben is a real Kentuckian- he knows his sports :)) Feli, if your team wins, promise us you will cover the victory parade!! You are so good at covering positive events!
    Post game: it was a close game. Either side had a chance to win. I think keeping Burrow in the pocket failed in the end as his protection collapsed play after play. Wished they had him roll out more. Losing is agonizing.

    • @herbertbisdorf2717
      @herbertbisdorf2717 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably there are tough years ahead for the steelers. The AFCN used to be Steelers or Ravens, with the Browns and the Bengals as canon fodder. Now that Big Ben is gone, and Burrows is really good, and even the Browns are kinda good, things can become the other way around.

      Yeah, also a diehard Steeler fan, and I was rooting for the Bengals to win. After all, isn't this the year of the Tiger? It would have been nice to keep the Lombardi in the AFC North. But that was not to be. With the Steelers about to go into rebuilding phase, this is the Bengals' and Browns' chance. To date the only NFL division where every team has won the SB at least once is the NFCE. Who would have thought?

    • @MattePurple1
      @MattePurple1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@paulkenny5052 Haha, yup. I got a little too comfortable with being the Bengals being bottom-feeders. Never imagined I'd see them turnaround so dramatically. Plus, I don't hate any of their players anymore. Burfict and Pac Man aren't around anymore to foul up their playoff chances. So, I guess a successful rebuild was in the cards eventually.

  • @sirgalahad1470
    @sirgalahad1470 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Ben, I am your dad's age. I grew up in Dallas, and back then the Cowboys were like the Patriots. We just went to the playoffs every year like clockwork. Then, after a few down years the great Jimmy Johnson came along and rebuilt the team into a mini dynasty, and we won 3 super bowls in 4 years in the early 90s. Now, my Cowboys have taken the Bengals place as the most hapless, underachieving team of the last 25 years. This year was the same ole story. One and done in the playoffs. Count yourself lucky to be a Bengals fan. The arrow is pointing up BIG TIME for you guys. Joe Burrow is the second coming of Joe Montana. He's that great! I hope you guys win tomorrow. I am for the Bengals all the way.

    For anyone who is more familiar with soccer than American football, this is essentially the equivalent to a team like Thailand (or another similarly poor team) not only making it to the World Cup group stage for the first time in 20 years, but beating multiple teams like Spain, France, and Germany en route to the World Cup final. Two years ago the Bengals were by far the worst team in the league with just a 0.125 winning percentage, and last year they won 4 of 16 games. It’s a huge deal.

Saw the 81 and 88 Bengals go to the Super Bowl, the Big Red Machine (Pete to the Hall of Fame!!) and the underdog Reds beat the A's in 1990 - Cincinnati is one of the greatest towns when their winning because the parties are great win or lose. Ben - do yourself a favor and now that Feli had immersed herself in Cincinnati, take a few minutes and learn that the Bundesliga is almost the size of the NFL and that Bayern Munich is always the team to beat year after year. Go Bengals!

    I can totally relate to Ben’s emotions and enjoyed the video, guys. I live on the Michigan and Wisconsin border. We have mostly Packers fans here like me, but there are a lot of Lions fans as well. This is an interesting matchup in that, while the Bengals are America’s team favorite, Matthew Stafford is America’s player favorite. As Ben would know, Stafford toiled on the lowly Detroit Lions for 12 years. He never complained or blamed the team’s lack of success on others, so he’s earned the respect of a lot of fans. He doesn’t have many chances remaining to win a championship, and many feel like Joe Burrow, JaMarr Chase, Tee Higgins and company will get other chances to win. (Get used to winning in Cincinnati, Ben!) And the other player is Aaron Donald, who has been a great defensive tackle in the league for years but doesn’t have a championship ring. I’m cheering for the Rams but will be very happy for the Bengals, the city of Cincinnati, and their fans if they win. Good luck, and most of all, ENJOY THE RIDE! (Don’t get hung up on winning or losing)

    I moved to Cincinnati from grad school in 1974. I was here to appreciate the '75 and '76 Reds. I watched the playoffs and Super Bowls in 1982 and 1989 ('88 season). As an "outsider," I have come to love this beautiful, complex, surprisingly cosmopolitan, and cultural city. Why is it cosmopolitan? Because of the huge multinational company, Procter & Gamble, where I was blessed to work for more than 36 years. Add GE jet engines and other companies to that experience, friends, and neighbors, and if you haven't looked in detail at this city, you have really missed the boat. This is the place of the 2020's.

I'm a fan since then and I saw the Bengals playing twice in London. Most German football teams are bandwagon fans and support the Patriots, the Chiefs or the Bucs, and I was always kind of laughing stock with my passion for the Bengals. So I'm really, really happy now, and I do exactly think the same as Ben: If we don't win tonight, we will have some more chances in the next couple of years. WHO DEY!

    Even though I live in Cincinnati, Ben seems to remember more about the Bengals' prior Super Bowl appearances than I do, even though he probably wasn't born yet.
    A couple Super Bowl phenomena probably worth more mention: Super Bowl party food, and the cery expensive commercials that are run during the game, although it seems to me the quality has declined since the costs and attention have increased and the top people in corporations have gotten more involved.

The atmosphere in the city was completely crazy, even for those who do not support soccer. So I’m from Baton Rouge, LA home of the LSU Tigers. Joe Burrow, who is from SE Ohio, played there his last two years and led the team to the NCAA Championship, winning the Heisman Trophy along the way. He was picked #1 2 years ago. One of his receivers was Jamar Chase (Rookie of the Year) who was picked #1 last year. So in Louisiana, we have kinda adopted the Bengals (Bengals/Tigers 😂) as our favorite team after the Saints. Now Joe helped talk another LSU player to come to the Bengals as a free agent, La’el Collins, to shore up their somewhat undermanned offensive line. We cheered hard for Joe & Jamar and the rest of the team as the year went on and we’re disappointed that the didn’t win the Super Bowl, but hopefully one year soon.
    Thank you SE Ohio for lending Joe to us for two years. He’s a freaking legend in Louisiana and we love him like one of our own!

    HI Feli (and Ben now, too)!! Your talk about chili, Cincinnati sports, and the Bengals being in tomorrow's Super Bowl has brought back many memories. I remain a big Reds fan, have been so since 1973, have even been to a few games in Cincinnati at both the old Riverfront Stadium and Great American Ball Park. Ben, this was long ago, before you were even a glint in your mother's eye, but I remember the summer of 1975 with the Big Red Machine. You hardly ever had to worry about if they got behind in a game, you always knew they were going to pull it out in the end. My best friend Rick and I would sit in his old Cutlass Ciera in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and listen to WLW (the signal is much better reception in the late evening and night) and the Reds games. It was a wonderful year. If only the Reds could be that good again, sigh. . .
    I've had fresh Cincinnati chili over at the Blue Ash Grill in Blue Ash, the four-way (that had beans as the fourth ingredient) and it was pretty good. Here in Texas, I have seen that some of the grocery stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth area offer Skyline Chili as a frozen dish. Uh, give me the fresh stuff instead. Skyline Chili is an acquired taste anyway. The native Texans especially would probably laugh at that chili, it wouldn't even make the cut at the many Texas chili cook-offs. But with the right spices, it can be interesting - the Blue Ash chili used cinnamon as an ingredient. Don't know if they are still open, I recommend trying it out if they still are.
    I'm a Packers fan, so my role will be a disinterested observer. I am happy the Packers handed the Bengals a loss in their building this past season, it's the only thing I have to hang onto since the miserable performance of the Packers special teams in the San Francisco game. But good luck to you Bengals fans, hope things turn out well for you. Enjoy the game, and each other's company tomorrow. Many best wishes for your future together, too.

    Okay, I can not wait to the end of this video to comment. 1st, as someone from New England I can relate to the euphoria Cincinnati is experiencing - for years our Red Sox motto was: "Wait till next year." Steelers fan. After 50 years of beating up on the Bengals, it's your turn to beat up on us. We will be bad for some years and you can watch Joe Burrow pick us apart for 15 years. Ben, that Munich game sounds like a great trip!

    Go Bengals!! My boyfriend and I, who is a huge Bengals fan (he lived in Chillicothe Ohio for 25 years and has season tickets to Bengals games)… are in Vegas right now and will be watching tomorrow from one of the big casino/resorts!
    He moved out to Oregon last July to be with me. We first met in the 8th grade. We both love football and all sports. Life is good.
    Thanks for sharing your perspectives on this topic. 🏈🤩

    Ben's enthusiasm for the Bengals was like mine for the Cubs in 2016. Love to see it.

    I don’t know anything else about him, but I love this dude. I feel like we could sit and at least talk sports (even being a lifelong Steelers, Pirates, and Pens fan). If for no other reason than sports, Ben was a good pick, Feli.
