Great ear training. I learned to tell the difference from using them in songs. It gives those two different chords great context for the brain to recognize them.
You are a joy to listen to and watch. Thoughtful, concise delivery of your educational content, and your performance videos are world class. You bring an element of joy and peace during these troubled times. Thank you!
I just found this channel, and I'm already finding it very helpful for taking steps forward in theory. I appreciate the time and effort spent sharing knowledge with us, thank you
Heyyy Gracie!!!! Great video. It is very tricky. When they are in root position, the augmented seem to have an illuminated sound about them. I need to practice. I am still watching your previous videos with minor keys and diatonic ( that white board is very effective)please keep them coming. 😀🎶
Dim has a dom7 sound and so you might be able to hear how it can resolve. Aug has a similar sound to that of the second chord in the James Bond motif. Using this cheat I can Finally distinguish between them! Many thanks for making these videos!
Really interesting challenge! The first inversion of a diminished triad felt easier to identify, as it sounds a lot like a dominant seventh chord without the root, so that I can tell where it is going to resolve (while an augmented chord doesn't feel like it is resolving anywhere in particular). Weird how just scrambling the notes can easily put you off, the second inversion sounds already less recognizable, and the root one even more so! Is it just me or there is a reason for that? Maybe it has to do with how the notes forming the tritone are disposed?
try watching this video a few times and see if it gets better each time! there are other ear training videos i'm sure you can watch too! the improvement will happen quickly, i promise!
Do you have any songs that've you wrote? If so where do you post those? Also what video editor are you using? it could be helpful to post some digital numbers on the screen after the chord reveal. :)

The best music teacher on TH-cam- nay, the world!
You really are an amazing teacher so thorough and don’t include all the nonsense, music is so visual and you show that in every way

Love your videos. Quick question though! Does the Phrygian Dominant apply (as the fifth) to the natural, harmonic and melodic minors? Many thanks.
You are right, very challenging, I am getting most wrong. How do I practice more?

What about Dogmented and Aminished?
Great video and lesson!
hahaha :) thank you!
All my guesses were wrong. I guess I shouldn’t quit my day job.
BTW, can you combine diminished and augmented and get demented?
Diminished = the train
Augmented = woodland fairies and elves
Nice

I'm giggling like a kid getting most of them correct.
Which piano do you use (over to your right) ?
The augmented always sounds more mysterious to me and that's how i can get it everytime, but I don't know if that helps anyone
For some reason augmented chords stress me out, as if one string is untuned ..and diminished chords sound more harmonically pleasing and somber to me.
❤
Hey
Hey 😎
@@GracieTerzian I have a question,
"If you write an F for an alto flute what note will it sound like?"
Aaaarrgh .... this video is so great but so frustrating when i keep getting it wrong.
Just for once I would like to see someone randomly pick any other key besides C.
Beautiful face
