psycold It kind of sounds like she hasn't even completely formed her thoughts around the matter. She's a little disjointed in her response. It's good to hear her seeing through the insanity, though. That host was awful. You can tell Janeane has some thoughts about it she's too scared to express. She started saying something about some of those women... I think I kind of know where she was going with that. She's probably been living in the MeToo group think cult haze for awhile now that she can tell something is wrong, but can't quite put her finger on it because the whole truth of the matter is verboten. That's what it sounds like anyway. As good as it was to hear her defending CK, it was also a little painful to hear her want to just shout the host down and tell it like it really is but censor herself and channel her response into less convincing arguments. She's still skirting around the truth: Many (but not all) women will happily indulge famous/successful men's sexual desires they wouldn't otherwise be attracted to if they think it will help their careers and are NOT being coerced.
John Like I said, she probably hasn't fully accepted the truth because of the MeToo cloud she's been living under or is fearful of just coming out and saying it because of the insane climate these days. She already started to get into it with the host in her defense of Louis's return. I give her respect, but I can't not notice her apparent apprehension or confusion.

Guy Johnson - he’s on your side. I've love Garofalo since the 90's. Ive disagreed with her but found her to be very level headed in reality. Good for her to stand up and say what many people think.
See how they keep flip-flopping their argument? First it’s what he did, then it’s his jokes that are the problem, then back to what he did. Janeane Garofalo is right on every aspect of this. She’s been the Rights punching bag for decades now for simply having a perspective and an opinion. Having empathy is a strength not a weakness.

NotEntertaining Yeah, I watched that. I thought Norton did pretty well making his points clear. I keep in mind, NY comedians are very different from West coast, LA comedians. LA comedians are much more career driven, cut-throat, opportunistic, always looking to capitalize on someone else’s misfortune or fuck up. They don’t want Louie back. He’s a better comic than most of them put together. Also, imho, if Paula Poundstone can come back, so can Louie CK. It’s time to forgive if not now, soon.
It's because Louis is supposed to be a whipping boy since Trump is in office. Since they can't touch Trump, they go after guys who they CAN get to, even if they're not nearly as bad.
Science Compliance yes exactly. It’s a part of an overall anti-male agenda to get a woman as president after trump. And To soak the public consciousness with all these witch trials so they can gain favor come election time. So obvious. Just like the first black person was elected after the ridiculousness of W Bush so will the first woman after Trump. It’s like we need the most absurd right wing nut in office first (in order to please all the “deplorables” and keep them happy for a term or two) before the left gets its chance to “make history” and put in “the first “so and so....so as to be seen as a huge victory over the chauvinist right. But it’s probably already planned like this from the start with both parties working hand in hand. It’s all professional wrestling folks. Let’s open our eyes.
Lee Dee Perhaps, but Bush really stole the election in 2000 (whereas Trump ostensibly won the electoral college fair and square), and Obama ran on a platform of "hope and change" and "yes we can". His campaign strategy actually had heart behind it, and "making history" was much more incidental than the more cynical "I'm With Her" campaign, which made the election about electing a woman rather than implementing policies for the American people in general. People liked Obama because he was "fresh" and energetic. He kind of betrayed many of the promises of his campaign, which is why many people came to loathe him after liking him initially.

@Crowley King of Hell i wouldnt argue that women arent that women are some snowflake angel that needs hand holding and caring for. id even go further and say many women manipulate the whole "woman card" thing (hit a guy but then expect him not to hit her because shes a woman - cry rape when its really sex she regrets the next day - want equality but then want preferences at the same time - the list of hypocritical crap some women do is endless). i dont doubt that many of the women of the metoo "victims" were actually schemers who maybe didnt like sleeping with so and so to get a role or watching so and so beat off (and some who maybe did like it) but did it anyway purely to get ahead. they arent victims and they werent victimized, in fact they ARE part of the problem. but just because the women also have some responsibility (in some cases, not all - hard to say the woman has any responsibility for when a guy pulls them hard into a bathroom, whips it out and starts beating off, and 20 seconds later shes managed to escape and wondering wtf just happened) doesnt also mean the guy has some too. doesnt matter if some uncomfortably agreed. doesnt matter if they arent traumatized powerless children (id also disagree that they are middle class - most were either real rich or real poor) or that they are opportunistic bullies. all that is whataboutism. you hold up one persons misdeeds to excuse another. one guy robbing a bank with a knife doesnt excuse or make worse or better a different guy stealing a car. at the end of it ... he behaved inappropriately, badly, and its not exactly the behavior we want to condone as a society unless it become even more prevalent. so even tho the women arent heroes or children as some like to pretend the guy is still a jerk.
Intellectual honesty and nuance, two things sorely missing in today’s discourse on both sides. Thank you Janeane for telling it like it is with courage. I hope this signals an end to the woke witch hunt
Nick MaGrick Nah, she’s pretty awful in that she doesn’t know much about what actually happened and is just assuming most of her opinion to come across as morally superior. If believing assumptions is right then yeah sure. Other wise no. It’s not.

Can we, as a society, never say 'meta-woke' or even 'woke' again. Buzz words for concepts that have existed since the written word do not make the concept new again.
I like the term “meta woke” but I think it’s a bit too much jargon for the average person. Meta is kinda gamer/nerd jargon and I think the phrase “meta-woke” could be misunderstood as a synonym for “woke” ... but like I said... I like it 😁
He will be fine. The outrage machine is loud, but it's not the majority. If he were to do a tour now, he'd sell out probably every single show. And yeah, the leaked set was damn funny.
It's a horrible leaked set. Not because of Louis CK but because of the loud laughing jackass that makes the tape all about him, and I don't care if he was the one recording it.
There are a lot of reasons Louie is different than Weinstein that I wish they'd gotten into. First of all, asking to expose yourself to someone demonstrates that you're attempting consent, and is very different than intimidating women into sex. And then admitting to what you did and privately apologizing and giving a public apology discussing why power dynamics compromise consent and asking for forgiveness for things you did a long time ago is very different than calling your victims liars and showing no evidence of personal growth. I wonder if the host believes anybody should be forgiven for anything ever...
Some of the women Louie did it to were in a position where he could help their career. I don't think he should be banned from preforming. But Havery did this for four decades and had a more powerful position. He started somewhere, Louis was going down a fucked up path. He could have hurt more people if he wasn't caught. But he was definitely using a mentality similar to Harvey and other people in positions of power.
@Robert Manoogian So, any time a powerful man has a relationship with a woman, it is rape because she may or may not have a partial fear? Where is the line on that? Say you're dating a chick. After a few weeks of you not making a move because you are afraid the power dynamic (you being physically larger than her), she initiates with you, that's full consent right? What if she's afraid if she doesn't put out you'll kill her, even though you've done nothing to facilitate that line of thinking?
@@anthonyramey7917 What about talentless women that have furthered their careers through blowing people? Like, what if Harvey went down that road because some talentless whore blew him? Why aren't women ever held responsible for their actions? If someone wanted me to blow them for a job, I would say no thank you, regardless of the consequences.
I admire her clarity of thinking and expression. Not a sheep. It would have been easy to throw the other person a bone with something like 'what he did was really really terrible but...'' but she didn't do that because she does not believe that.
The interviewer totally gave away the underlying message all the people against Louis actually think. All the people who are against him now believe that he shouldn't be able to do comedy, or if he does, he has to personally talk to everyone in the world and tell them beforehand as a trigger warning. Why is it that the only way people will "allow" him to continue as a stand-up is if he re-opens the same wound everytime he is about to do a set? It's so ridiculous.
I was never a real fan of Janeane Garofalo. I am now. Smart, level headed, and fair. And she didn't shit on her friend when it was a popular thing to do.
He's one of the most brilliant comedians of his generation. My favorite. This lady doesn't have to forgive him. Not my place to "forgive him". He's apologized, learned from his mistake. I hope he gets a big comeback.
"What he did was not ok" -the justification given for ruining someone's entire life and shitting on them endlessly. If we're honest, doesn't that phrase apply to just about everyone at some point in their lives?
What Louie CK did was strange but last I checked he did ask them and they did say yes! Women these days don't seem to know what consent is because the new term that's being used is "non consensual consent" this is a weird time we live in, just stupid
THAT is what should be called brave. She said something she believed in although she knew many people would be outraged by it; as opposed to politically correct sheep who feel morally superior for repeating popular beliefs. I respect her for that.
Idk who the host is but 1) She will not let the guest speak without interrupting 2) She's fully intent on staying complacent in the woke shadow with 0 ability to have an adult conversation. She's all about he said/she said. 🙄 All she brings to the table is a headache and an empty bottle of aspirin.
Emily Rems and Callie Watts, the hosts, need to spend some time reflecting on how manipulated they are by the media. I don't agree with Janeane on everything, but she's a shining light of sanity on this subject.
“There is a point where we stop kicking someone when they are down.” Good for J. Also, there is such a thing as forgiveness, and having “paid your dues.”
It's humiliating, and that's their in. If what he did wasn't humiliating, the element of shame wouldn't be strong and the public would not have the same reaction to the whole thing. Shame will always be the go to response of people of power to crush someone.
Always been a fan of Janeane, but more so now. She's one of the last people I would've thought would stand up for Louie CK, but she clearly understands the value and meaning of friendship. Mad respect.
It would have been nice if they could have gotten into a discussion about the core issues of the allegations and what transpired instead of the interviewer simply talking over Janeane before she finished literally every sentence.
Arul Ross - it’s not like she hasn’t experienced that before. Level-headed women experience dealing with women like this their entire life. That’s why tomboys exist - not just because they’re into “guy shit” but because women are fucking insane.
The objective is complete burial. They want him to disappear into the shadows and never be seen or heard from again. That will mean the mob wins and the court of public opinion rules all. All because he had a weird kink that made a few women uncomfortable after HE ASKED to jerk off in front of them.
holy cow i was not expecting that from her given her audience and public image. that's the most passionate i've heard anyone defend Louis. i think i just became a fan
The interviewer states that this issue "doesn't have tiers" - really? If you had a choice between verbal battery and rape, which would you choose? There are definitely tiers.
Really? There are more delicate ways to regenerate your career than doing a stand-up show? He is a stand-up comedian. That's what he _does._ People throwing allegations at you doesn't mean you have to quit your job.
I think she meant groveling so that people who feel like they are in a position to judge the world around them could be satisfied that their imaginary influence was intact.
The other chick represent exactly cancel culture. If you don't want him on stage just don't watch him. Yes, he did a bad thing. But that is over now. Moving on.
The host is provoking Janeane to draw negative attention to herself so she can pretend to be a judge. The trick is to not go on the defensive, parry rhetorical questions, and just be matter of fact.
Never was a big fan of her politics, but I just gained a lot of respect for Janeane. I'm sure she's gonna take a lot of shit for this from her fellow leftists. It takes a certain kind of guts to stand up to your own people and say, "Enough of this bullshit!"
I've gone back and reread the NYtimes articles that broke the story on Louis CK, and honestly, the worst thing Louis did was ask a coworker if he could jack of in front of her. The current narrative that Louis CK exposed himself without consent, or that he damaged the women's careers is nowhere in the article. The women just felt like they couldn't work with Louis's agent after they told people that he jerked in front of them after asking their permission.
Growing up in 90s, I always thought Garofalo was very funny and talented, but underappreciated. People don't realize how much courage it takes to speak up for what you really believe in this environment, especially when you are a woman. Thanks for not disappointing, Janeane; I love you, and by the way I always found you hot in a very heterosexual way.
I didn't expect Janeane to be so old school and have an adult, nuanced opinion. My bad for assuming she'd go with the flow, but isn't it just the best when someone has an authentic, human response to something? Rather than this faux dictatorial outrage robot response?
If I were sitting around having a drink with Louis C.K. and he said "Hey, mind if I jerk off?" I'd think he was kidding. But then when he whipped it out I'd know he was not. But I would still laugh, uncomfortably. I often wish I was rich and famous enough to get away with shit like that. Now it's all PC wokeness.

She's still skirting around the truth:
Many (but not all) women will happily indulge famous/successful men's sexual desires they wouldn't otherwise be attracted to if they think it will help their careers and are NOT being coerced.
Great first paragraph.
13ivanogre13 You disagree with the second?
John Like I said, she probably hasn't fully accepted the truth because of the MeToo cloud she's been living under or is fearful of just coming out and saying it because of the insane climate these days. She already started to get into it with the host in her defense of Louis's return. I give her respect, but I can't not notice her apparent apprehension or confusion.
presuming you know a persons heart, will always fall into the 'ya never know' category...
Louis should be allowed to have a path for redemption. People in prison eventually do and for much worse...
People in prison have no path to redemption.
Agreed. We have become far far too harsh and unforgiving in this country.
Redemption??? Who are you to judge him and suggest he NEEDS to redeem himself. He's a human being who fucked up, just as we all do. There's no higher authority that what's in his heart. It's no one else's place to judge.
Guy Johnson - he’s on your side. The point was, social status matters in public when public artists work, he has daughters and mortgages, and people like that need a chance to prove that they’ve understood their past and won’t repeat the past. It’s not just about his heart and spiritual reality when he’s on Netflix and getting canceled. Destroying artists forever has to stop.
Guy Johnson Calm down. He’s on your side.
Good to know that there are normal people out there. Kudos to her
Perfect example of the left vs the extreme left. Reason vs feelings.
So true!
I've love Garofalo since the 90's. Ive disagreed with her but found her to be very level headed in reality. Good for her to stand up and say what many people think.
69 likes. Nice.
Janeane has always said what she believes even when it's unpopular.
Probably why I've never heard her name before. Definitely going to check her stuff out now.
See how they keep flip-flopping their argument? First it’s what he did, then it’s his jokes that are the problem, then back to what he did. Janeane Garofalo is right on every aspect of this. She’s been the Rights punching bag for decades now for simply having a perspective and an opinion. Having empathy is a strength not a weakness.
classic devil trait of confusion and arguing they all do it look up the new judd apatow and pete holmes on sam and jim norton interview judd apatow does the same shit talking about louie
Good for you Janeane, we live in a time of hysteria and she is going to face a backlash especially from feminists and her own audience, shes very brave...... Salute!
Fuck her, she’s only given it a moment’s thought because it personally affects her. You don’t get credit for defending your friend.
Darklighter is correct. Defend someone you don't personally like because it's the right thing to do. THAT's brave.
@@taffysaur I understand were you coming from, however her core audience are feminists and women, so she is definitely risking a financial loss in ticket sales and she knew it before she said it, so for that I give her props, but I get what your saying more women should come out and support victims of this outrage culture and especially the men that have been proven innocent!
If you were to ask what we should do with Trump I bet her tune would be the exact opposite.

Your completely vacuous text ignores the damage men doing this to women does.
For the first time in a long time I a can proudly agree with garofalo. Good for her for defending her friend Louie and creating a distinction between what Louie did and what actual harmful people in Hollywood have done.

Garrofalo was in 'CopLand'?
Stallone was surprisingly off-beat and good in that.
Garrofalo is funny & substantive in her stand-up.
@Ad Max I don't understand how any of that hour is hack to you. I thought it was really funny. I was surprised how funny it was.
@Ad Max ick. I just hate your comment.. I would say out of the best 50 stand up comedians of all time. 40 of them are from the u.s. & half of them are still alive. I find your comment really dumb, and disengenuous virtue signalingy.
@Ad Max you are clearly judging his set not having heard it. Just like you judging the state of comedy in the U.S. clearly knowing nothing about the state of comedy.
This is an actual strong woman. Going against popular opinions is not in most women's nature.
You need to change 'women's nature' to 'people's nature'. Most 'people' follow popular opinion.

M. D. So much now! I’ve always liked her but now it’s on a whole new level.
He asked if he could do it and they uncomfortably agreed because they thought it might help their career, that's the power he had, so they were obviously thinking of how it could benefit them. There are a lot of people out there who would say no, walk out, they didn't have to stay, there was no coercion. I'm sick of this infantilisation of women. "Did the bad man show you adult ladies his penis after you agreed to let him, ahhh, poor baby, come over here, let's ruin his life together."
Carl This guy gets it.
"agreed because they thought it might help their career, that's the power he had"
He wasn't exactly a titan in showbusiness back then... but your reasoning is what he describes himself in the apology, so yeah, I guess.
there are at least 2-3 women that he admits he DIDNT ask but instead just whipped it out and started beating off.
@@endrsgm So leave after registering how you feel about the situation. That's what grown ups do. If you didn't do that, it's on you, you made the wrong choice, take responsibility and move on. There's a huge difference between someone doing something awkward and embarrassing which you can walk away from, and someone forcing someone using physical restraint.
You can blame both sides, whatever that means, but I’ll tell you we all know exactly who is responsible for this garbage.
I was with you 'till your last statement.
Ya see, right there is the difference between people who have always meant what they have been preaching & people who just trend for social clout.

It's better I don't know.
shes not awful, she still seems to believe in what she thinks is right.
Nick MaGrick Nah, she’s pretty awful in that she doesn’t know much about what actually happened and is just assuming most of her opinion to come across as morally superior. If believing assumptions is right then yeah sure. Other wise no. It’s not.

First of all, he asked the women if he could pull it out, they said yes. If they said no, he did not do it. Periodt! Good for you Janeane Garofalo! Enough already. He has paid a very heavy price. Let him work again
no. he. wiped it out regardless if they said no, they try to wreck those girls careers if they spoke up. if it was no big deal he wouldn't have lied abt it for years and even went after Rosanne Barry when she exposed him years ago.
Wow I completely misjudged Janeane Garofalo, I had no idea she was meta-woke. This gave me a bit more hope for our society.
Can we, as a society, never say 'meta-woke' or even 'woke' again. Buzz words for concepts that have existed since the written word do not make the concept new again.
Chip yard 👏
@@atomsk1972 Gee wiz, wouldn't that be nifty. But no, I think you're overrating novelty.
I like the term “meta woke” but I think it’s a bit too much jargon for the average person. Meta is kinda gamer/nerd jargon and I think the phrase “meta-woke” could be misunderstood as a synonym for “woke”

She's always been a pretty good leftist girl. I like her. Always have.
Louis CK has an awesome leaked set and I hope he has a comeback.
Went to see him in San Jose on Thursday and he was hilarious.
krowlz Were there any crass, unattractive women protesting out front? And if there were, how many cats do you think they owned?
He will be fine. The outrage machine is loud, but it's not the majority. If he were to do a tour now, he'd sell out probably every single show. And yeah, the leaked set was damn funny.
@ we went to the last show @10pm and the protesters had already left. Apparently it was only 5 or so people.
The secular moral puritans that make up the new "left" have become what the old left fought against -- intolerant and punitive.
Well said.
Yes. “Integrity”.
If you're the kind of person who gets triggered by ... anything really, you have no business going to stand up comedy at all. You need to seek help.
Janeane: "Get on with life." Interviewer: "This is my life."
I was never a real fan of Janeane Garofalo. I am now. Smart, level headed, and fair. And she didn't shit on her friend when it was a popular thing to do.
We might not have George Carlin but we still have Janeane Garofalo. I'm thankful!
Janeane has always been consistent, even when she paid dearly for it.
Good for Janeane for having convictions and standing up to say what she believes even though it's unpopular.

There are very few comics willing to stand up publicly and support their friends. Loyalty is so underrated.
She just went up a level for me.
Great respect for Janeane for standing up for decency
What Louie CK did was strange but last I checked he did ask them and they did say yes! Women these days don't seem to know what consent is because the new term that's being used is "non consensual consent" this is a weird time we live in, just stupid
THAT is what should be called brave. She said something she believed in although she knew many people would be outraged by it; as opposed to politically correct sheep who feel morally superior for repeating popular beliefs. I respect her for that.
Idk who the host is but
1) She will not let the guest speak without interrupting
2) She's fully intent on staying complacent in the woke shadow with 0 ability to have an adult conversation.
The hostess is full of weird principles
My respect for Janeane Garofalo just grew.
I like that she fights for her friend and that she took on a whingeing feminist.
I don't hear much from J.Garofolo, but when I do, it just reaffirms how fucking awesome I think she is.

Also love the audience’s reaction to “tell me about your life…” lol
That ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh shit that woman was doing is so irritating. This lady is so condescending.
This woman she's arguing with is insufferable. Literally NO room for agreement.
Insufferable because you are in the same boat as Janeane. You like Louis CK so you think he should be able to do whatever he wants
Best part is the last few seconds when Janeane laughs at how empty the interviewer is. "Tell me about your life..."
Holy sh%€ a voice of reason
It's humiliating, and that's their in. If what he did wasn't humiliating, the element of shame wouldn't be strong and the public would not have the same reaction to the whole thing. Shame will always be the go to response of people of power to crush someone.
to me, he gave one of the most heartfelt and thoughtful apologies without ever actually saying the words "sorry" - absolutely brilliant.
Always been a fan of Janeane, but more so now. She's one of the last people I would've thought would stand up for Louie CK, but she clearly understands the value and meaning of friendship. Mad respect.
She's right about not piling on people when their down. She's wrong about her not being sexually appealing. I had SUCH a crush on her back in the day.
It would have been nice if they could have gotten into a discussion about the core issues of the allegations and what transpired instead of the interviewer simply talking over Janeane before she finished literally every sentence.
Jeaneane is a boss ..and she got a taste of the nonsensical illogical blather that some women are capable of ...it's like talking to a literal wall
Arul Ross - it’s not like she hasn’t experienced that before. Level-headed women experience dealing with women like this their entire life. That’s why tomboys exist - not just because they’re into “guy shit” but because women are fucking insane.
What is the objective for people being outrage with Louis? Do they not want him to work again so he can't feed his family? What is the objective.
The objective is complete burial. They want him to disappear into the shadows and never be seen or heard from again. That will mean the mob wins and the court of public opinion rules all. All because he had a weird kink that made a few women uncomfortable after HE ASKED to jerk off in front of them.
Thank God there’s still some sane people in the world. We’re living in contemporary McCarthyism.
Wow never in 1 million years would I be thinking I was agreeing with Janine Garofalo. I have newfound respect for this woman
I'd agree with many here that the host was glib and knee-jerk, but I wish Janeane had better articulated her point.

what a weird thing for a women to be defending.
Sad when a woman feasts on the power of vengeance and calls it morality....
This is not a female thing. It is the nature of mankind
I GUARANTEE the host with a problem has never said a funny thing in their life
holy cow i was not expecting that from her given her audience and public image. that's the most passionate i've heard anyone defend Louis. i think i just became a fan
I really miss Louis CK's stand up.
The interviewer states that this issue "doesn't have tiers" - really? If you had a choice between verbal battery and rape, which would you choose? There are definitely tiers.
Holy shit, it's like Garofalo is talking to a fucking wall.
I am so glad she stood up for her friend thank you Jeanine
Love Her for this! We were friends for a minute back in the 80’s. And Louis is a good guy.
Janeane: *says something sensible
Host: Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Never was a big fan of her politics, but I just gained a lot of respect for Janeane. I'm sure she's gonna take a lot of shit for this from her fellow leftists. It takes a certain kind of guts to stand up to your own people and say, "Enough of this bullshit!"
I'm pretty sure the host/cohost who was arguing against Janeane would have had a problem with any approach that Louis took to start working again.
She’s personally offended…….on behalf of those women 😂
The MAIN POINT that everyone seems to gloss over, is that CK didn't AMBUSH anyone. In every single case, he asked for, AND GOT, consent.
Really got to hand it to Jeneane here. She is surrounded by people who look at identity politics like a religious orthodoxy. But, she has the spine and nerve to speak her mind. You're awesome Garofalo!
Like these people judging have never done a thing wrong themselves. At school they never upset another kid, at work never behaved badly towards someone they didn't like, never trampled over someone to get on in life, never bought products from a company that has dodgy ethics.
