The part Ted says about having a knife with you at all times is absolutely true.
You can can cut a lead rope, halter, or whatever... Especially when a horse is down ...
Being able to cut things loose in a emergency can be lifesaving...
    Thank You very much Ted...

Ted ...I've watched many many of your videos and I really like the gentle ways you use to train horses......I've always thought that halter and lead rope training, including being tied should began at a very young age.....weanlings or even younger.....possibly tied with the mare even tied nearby to cut down on some of the stress factors.........I've wondered about even teaching to stand and accept hobbling at that age........what is you opinion on this and what is your thoughts on optimal age to start doing that kind of ground work.........thanx for the great videos.........P.S....I've found that you can buy various diameters and \materials of lead ropes or any other needed ropes at marine, boat supply places..(especially if you live near coastal areas of the country)

Wow you are talented. I don't need one right now because We don't have a horse right now [Someday we hope!]. But that is very nice of you to offer!

Very helpful video, thanks. Now I KNOW you didn't really say that sometimes it takes the girls a year to learn the knot and the boys only a day. Also, if you ever do another horse tying video, it would be helpful if you paused for a bit at the end of the knot, because visual learners need to form a mental picture of the knot; and when you tie the knot and continue in an unbroken motion to make the daisy chain, it's very difficult to actually 'see" the knot. Or maybe I'm just one of those girls haha.

I don't tie him. I tell him to stand. He will even if he sees mares.
