    X2 is by far the scariest coaster in the US. My first time at Magic Mountain it was the only coaster since my childhood that I was going to skip because I was scared to ride it - and I'm nearly 50 years old. I was texting one of my boys and he convinced me to give it a try. It instantly tied for number one on my list. And my number one bucket coaster is also Eejanaika.
    For those of you that haven't experienced it, X2 is a tornado simulator. If you want to know what it feels like to get sucked up in a tornado, thtown around twisting head over heels, and thrown out... Here's your chance.

    • @chrissegura1246
      @chrissegura1246 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      One time I got stuck on the top of the lift hill of X2 and I was mostly calm. But then it was around a 15 mins being stuck and a bird flew by parallel to me like 180 ft in the air and then I started freaking out.
      Didn’t have to deboard and walk down but that messed me up.

    I have no clue why, but the Flight of Fear clones still get me. I’ve ridden 132 different coasters with way more powerful launches, but sitting in that tiny ride vehicle staring into the literal abyss still makes my heart tremble. Also the fact the launch kicks in directly from dispatch adds to it I think. Incredibly underrated rides in my opinion.

    • @toyoracer33
      @toyoracer33 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Totally agree, seriously underrated coasters in my opinion as well. And a super punchy launch for an LSM. FYI if you could ever get out to Magic Mountain, Full Throttle uses similar ride vehicles with a similar launch. If it wasn't for the unfortunate ending that coaster would be talked about much more.
      It makes me wonder what Premier could do with a $25 mil budget

    Riding Eejenaika was a religious experience for me. I went to Fuji Q this last April and it was absolutely amazing. Everyone complains about the lines but its best to do free entry and not pay for a ticket. Pay for a skip the line and ride ticket for each of the rides and you could knock out the main attractions in a couple hours. Seeing Mount Fuji upside down was something I will never forget. Highly recommend the haunted house as well. It was this dilapidated hospital and it lasted over 45 minutes! Happy to say I am returning this coming april once again. I really hope you can get there man Fuji Q is a trip!!!

    XScream at the top of the Statosphere in Las Vegas was my scariest experience. The fact that there is no track that continues and you are trusting the technology to stop you is the most unnerving experience ever. I’ll take any of the “normal” coasters over that one. For whatever reason, that was definitely the hardest one for me.

    For me, the only thing that could possibly make me nervous would be an unknown element, so only coasters I haven’t ridden yet have a chance. And the only unridden coasters I can think of that may make me nervous are all in Japan: 1. Do-Dodonpa, 2. Eejanaika; 3. Flying Dinosaur, in that order.

    The anticipation of Top Thrill Dragster’s launch is definitely the one moment that’s gets me every time. Kingda Ka doesn’t do that for me, and I think it’s because of the motor noises on Dragster. It really hyped up the powerful launch like no other ride. Kingda Ka is scary in the moment, but the build-up to the launch is unbeatable on Dragster.

  • @_AT41
    @_AT41 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    My number 1 scariest ride was not a coaster, it was Orlando Freefall. I love drop towers and this was the most powerful and sustained drop I ever experienced. What made it even more scary is that they would hold you up there for an unknown amount of time before dropping you 430 feet. It could be 10 seconds, or a minute and a half. Then without warning you’d get a massive sustained stomach drop feeling and rush of adrenaline.
    The fatal accident was tragic and completely avoidable. Too bad the doofuses operating it thought it would be ok to modify the seats.

    Also, I know what you mean about the Vekoma Giant Inverted Boomerangs. (I will definitely show my age with this story). I am currently a middle-aged enthusiast. I will never forget when I rode Deja Vu at Six Flags Great America in October only a few weeks after we were attacked on 9/11. The entire country was on high alert and wondering where we might be attacked next. I was in the back row of the giant inverted boomerang Deja Vu and when it was pulled up to the top of the first tower, it stopped and we hung there facing straight down for about 15 minutes. We didn't know when we would be let go to go through the course. People were getting paranoid on the train and some were even talking about terrorism. It definitely got the adrenaline pumping!

    Der Schwur des Kärnan is by far the scariest coaster for me, because of that one ride...
    We climbed up the lift and waited to drop backwards a 200+feet in the air. We were waiting and waiting, but nothing happend. Suddenly the lights went on and somebody told us that we are stuck and have to wait until it's getting fixed. I was sitting front row, left seat and when I turned around and saw how high we were up it scared the hell out of me. Since then Kärnan always freaks me out.

    Can't speak on Tatsu as I haven't gotten out to ride it, but of the 3 flying coasters I've done (Manta, Nighthawk, and Superman Ultimate Flight SFGA), Superman is the only one, and frankly the only roller coaster I've ever been on, to unlock a deep, primal fear in me on a reride.
    It's entirely the lift hill. The angle is shallow; the lift is slow; and there's no nets or trees or bushes down below you; just lawn. So you're stuck looking straight down at flat ground that is slowly getting further and further away for an agonizing amount of time, and I think the older flyer restraints feel just a little looser.
    I could actually see Tatsu or the Superman from Georgia being less terrifying, purely down to the terrain and whether there's proper landscaping below or not.

    • @CoasterDash
      @CoasterDash  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You summed up what makes flying coasters terrifying very accurately! That said, Tatsu is far more horrific than Superman. There’s no netting on Tatsu either, and i’m guessing that’s a massive factor.

    • @noname117spore
      @noname117spore 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CoasterDash The lack of netting would definitely be a factor, although frankly so would lift speed (getting to the top quicker is better); lift angle (steeper is better), and how much foliage is directly below the lift.
      But if all 3 of those are still in a similar level I can absolutely see Tatsu being even more terrifying.

Leviathan and Behemoth really aren't scary but I wasn't used to that type of car without shoulder restraints. But I guess those wouldn't be needed anyway since neither coaster has inversions. SkyRush (HersheyPark) is pretty scary, and for some reason I always get scared before the ride and also on the drop for GateKeeper (Cedar Point), and Maverick (Cedar Point), is also pretty scary. Mr. Freeze at SFOT deserved to be at at least #10 on the list, but for the most part, I agree on your list.

    X2 is definitely number one (assuming we all haven't been to Japan.) I personally still get the butterflies on the lift hill for gigas. And flying coasters still make me nervous simply because part of my brain still wants to be able to have a way to survive if my restraint fails. And there's no hope for you if for some bizarre reason your restraint opened on a flying coaster. I know they're safe and that doesn't happen. But part of me won't accept that so it makes flying coasters more suspenseful and thrilling for that reason.
    But the scariest rides for me aren't coasters. They're Starflyers. Those are genuinely terrifying. And the chains aren't big and bulky like on the spinning swings. That would be more reassuring. They're tiny, like cheap necklaces. And I'm a big dude so it makes me really question the strength of the chains. I still do them for some masochistic reason but I always feel like I have a 10% chance of dying while I'm on them.

    As a UK enthusiast with a smaller selection of rides here, the scariest coaster has to be The Swarm or any other wing coaster especially at the top of the lift as you slowly twist upside down

    For me it’s verboten at Busch gardens Williamsburg the main reason I say this is my top scariest roller coaster is because there’s a drop that you cannot see and you’re never prepared for it and it’s complete darkness and because of my eyesight dark just seems to scare me more

    Great video! Gives me some more bucket list items!
    While not an overly scary ride as a whole, the beyond vertical drop of the Green Lantern coaster at Warner Bros. Movie World on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia gets me everytime (and I've lost count how many times I've ridden it). It's an S&S El Loco coaster with a 120.5° drop... I think it holds the record for steepest drop but I could be wrong it's been a while since I looked that up.
    And the DC Rivals Hypercoaster, also at Movie World is pretty awesome too with its 202ft lift hill... sat next to many a person that seriously wanted to opt out going up that hill.

    Totally agree with number 1 (altough for me it's Eejanaika, as I haven't ridden X2 yet) and 10. Cobra looks like it could fall into pieces at anytime; as it did have structural problems when they build it and first opened it. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed it and it's a one off every enthousiast should experience.

    I rode X2 twice yesterday in a row, once in the back and once in the front, definitely more forces in the back and it's faster but the first drop in the front is insane staring at the ground. However, after the first drop on viper in the back when you come up the the first loop all the way to the brakes, before the second half of the ride, I'm 100% grayed out that whole time, and for that reason alone, I believe viper is the most intense ride at SFMM right now, (And last of its kind) but X2 is scarier for sure.

    Of the coasters I've ridden, the one I've felt most nervous about riding was Wiener Prater's Volare, no competition! It definitely lived up to expectation, although I lived to tell the tale.
    If I'd make a list of coasters I'd be most scared to ride it'd feature Tatsu, X2, Maxx Force and Stunt Fall for sure. Also I305 and Skyrush for the immense positive forces (and the restraint in Skyrush' case). Probably Gravity Max or any of the upcoming tilt coasters. I'd add the backwards back row of DC Rivals to the mix. I still get a bit nervous whenever I board a Dive coaster (even though my home park, Efteling, has one). But number one has to be Kärnan. What demented mind came up with that? I hope (and fear) to ride it this year.

    Great countdown btw, I feel ya on Top Thrill. The first time I got to be in the park with this ride, I was freaking out and after an hour of waiting, it got shut down for the day, making me look heroic with the others, but relieved that I didn't have to get on.
    The next time I went to Cedar Point, it was a station wait, believe it or not, I found out the hard way as there was a cig area by the area (pre-corona) ......yada yada yada - I was in that line early, my first ride was row #1 and I was freaked the entire time.
    Right when that thing hit the brake run, I was like, "Again, again"
    I'm so pumped for TT2. Lovely vid 🥰
    I'm most afraid to hit up the new one at Indiana Beach btw because of its history.

    I have been on like 20 coasters but the scariest one is zadra or hyperion. Those were an still are my first big roller coasters. Not including roller coasters it would be speed 32 airborne or best XXL (those are flat rides in europe)
