    lol I've been chasing my Cortina restoration for two decades. Its like painting the forth road bridge. Once you finish its time to start the resto again! Keep plodding on dude. Its a shame replacement panels are not as plentiful now as they were. Cheers Mac.

    Hi Shelley, If your not "sure" how something comes off IE like the window winder inserts, just ask me, I have owned my Mk.3 for 47 years, the rust on mine was horrendous, needing a full end to end shell rebuild, it made your corroded rear end look new, by comparison, lol, but I got it done in the end, so keep at it, loved the video as always, great to see you working on your "E", but remember advice is but a message away, always happy to help. nice door by the way, seen them far worse, and inner outer sills far worse too, your car has survived well, the Clear plastic was remains of the Factory fitted protective sheet that once covered the whole door card, when the car was new, prior to sale, to her first owner, often seen remnants like on yours around door pulls and behind seats, over the years,

      Thanks Keith. Yep I'm amazed on how good the doors are considering the sills..! I can't get the mirror bracket off for love nor money, without drilling it out. The bracket is secure and so i may just leave it on. The one screw is just turning on itself, the other won't budg. The door is so good on the inside, I'm considering just treating the rust, priming and overcoating, and leaving the rest as is. Clear plastic - ahh it ripped when i was pulling on it. Maybe there is a secret to it? Steam? Where do i get a replacement i wonder?

    Whatever it takes, it’ll be worth it in the end. ( I’m already blown away by Pete Cortina City’s silver beauty) and I know this lovely golden girl will be just as nice. Crack on Shelley! 🙏👌

    If a man is found with a cat like that, he's a wizard or a witch. 😂😂😂. Am working on the Ford cortina van. It's nice doesn't need a lot of body work. I like the way your work is progressing.

    Those sills remind me of mine but your inners are better than mine were. Those spotweld drill bits are great though I kept forgetting to use oil and they were going blunt quickly. That kitty cat is super cute, great work Shelley 😊

      Thanks for the tip about the oil. Yep seems to save the tips and drill a bit easier. Some of the spot welds are so difficult to find!

    If you're taking the sill off & replacing it, cut off most of the sill using a grinder/recip saw - both help - leaving just the spot-welded strips in place on the seams. You then have great access to the spot welds instead of having to try fight getting a drill in over/under stuff. Drill the welds then run an air-hammer (a cheap one will do) with chisel along the seam - it will get shut of the strip fast. Otherwise it takes forever & is a pita.
    I start the cuts with a grinder & skinny disc - just make a short slot for each cut that you can get a recip-saw blade into. The recip will rocket along cutting compared to the grinder. Doing it that way you can have the rotten sill off in minutes without all the faffing about. :-) Get a few long (30cm) fine tooth metal cutting blades for the recip-saw (I use a small Dewalt cordless one, it's brilliant plus nice & light) - the long blade allows you to poke into awkward tight spots & cut stuff where nothing else will fit. You soon get the knack of using it like a surgeon. :-)

      If I'm bored drilling sill/any spot-welds (which is often/frequently/almost always) I won't bother & instead will grab the 4" grinder with a freshish grinding disc - if you grind for just a few seconds into each spotweld it will quickly remove most of the weld on the side you're removing - you soon get a feel for when you're "Deep enough" - you can then use the air-hammer to break off the rest of what remains. That way is a lot less boring than spending ages dicking about with a drill bit that's blunt/lost/wanders/isn't feeling co-operative. It also doesn't leave a hole on the seam you want to keep. Which drilling often does, because. "I'll just drill the first layer.. oooops.. Ok, the next one will be bett... ah here... right, press less har... ffs... "

      I can’t remember sorry. I think it’s fairly simple. @cortinacity Pete did an episode on sunvisor fixing removal - early Bramble vid I think?
