  • The mid 80s saw new liveries being applied to the then standard BR blue locos as sectorisation was introduced to the railway. Also there was the Great Western 150 celebration which saw some locos receiving a GWR makeover. Here's a running session of some of my locos from the period: 87012 coeur de lion was the first of the class to carry the new 'executive' livery. The newly built class 58 all received railfreight grey livery - here 58001 hauls a rake of MGR hoppers. Double headed class 50s 50023 Howe and 50007 Sir Edward Elgar are in the 1st version of Network South East and GW150 colours respectively. An unusual pairing of a class 26 and a 20 carry what was later known as railfreight red stripe livery. Overtaking them is 56075 in railfreight grey - this plainer version being applied to locos without an obvious solebar (eg 58s and 20s) though later the red stripe became the standard. 31206 in red stripe livery heads a short passenger train while 37697 and 37370 display the two versions of railfreight grey.
