Jim made a huge impression on me back when I had him for a grad school class at the University of Alabama back in 1985. Got me interested in markets for life. A blessing to me. Thanks Jim.
What a treat - my two heroes together having a conversation in the "safest place in the world!" Two very thoughtful men who never waste a word. Thank you for sharing this insight.
Great conversation. As far as the world's reserve currency, and what will replace the dollar, and when, is hard to tell. It depends on the intensity of the coming war. One cataclysmic event could pull nations together to determine what to use, if enough countries get totally disgusted with the arrogance of the US.
Gold and silver are perfect money, as long as governments don't try fixing exchange rates to an arbitrary standard. In other words, price fixing never works. If a silver quarter buys a bushel of corn, and $8 in fiat buys a bushel of corn, prices would remain very stable. Some fluctuation would occur in good harvest years and lean years, but the average would dance close to the center line most of the time. That's if there's still enough silver for monetary use. Since the 1940s, tons and tons of silver has been destroyed by using it to make bombs. There's no way to know how much silver is actually left.
"I don't know where to go"(referring to currencies to move into) - Exactly makes the case for gold and silver. Histrorically, that's where money gravitated toward when there were no reliable alternatives in fiat currencies. If we are in an environment where all currencies are considered questionable by so many people, including financial pros, then that should be a perfect storm for precious metals to gain.
Gold and silver have had problems in the past as currency , however we can't limit our thinking to the limitations of the past as technology has progressed beyond those limitations. Using gold and today's technology may indeed be the correct answer. Gold already is universal, adapt the technology for it.
From Demopolis, Ala. To Singapore. I would say Jim is one smart guy. He made a killing running the Fund for Soros. I have read his books and i loved the investment biker. Its almost like your riding next to Jim and his better half and experiencing everything as it happened to him.
I have a lot of Canadian dollars, a lot of Russian Roubles and a lot of Chinese Yuans, but no USD. AS to nationalizing gold, The Canadian government sold its gold, the same with the US under the pretext of "an old relic" while people like me bought gold as a hedge, they made the bad choice not me, I would go to court to keep my gold.
Over the past year, the debt has increased by nearly $8.5 billion per day, a pace that poses significant risks to the nation's economic stability. As of March 18, 2024, the total national debt stands at $34,551,363,248,839.89
My fault. The vault was hot that day and we weren't running the air movement systems due to the dust it would kick up. I had to use normal fans to keep him cool and comfortable. 😔
America 🇺🇸 loves 🥰 Hyper Inflation 💸 and will continue to print money 💵 and lower interest rates until the US 🇺🇸 Dollar 💵 collapses ! The American 🇺🇸 Government loves 🥰 Hyper Inflation 💸 so much they want the prices of everything to rise until the US 🇺🇸 Dollar 💵 is worth nothing ! Print ! Print ! Print ! Ha ! Ha ! Ha ! Hilarious 🤣

Only gold and silver should be the world reserve currency

According to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing paper money is only worth a few cents in paper and ink regardless of denomination.
We don't see the polarization in countries like Singapore. Perhaps countries should follow the Singapore path. Find a Lee Kwan Yew.
Tks Patrick 😁
Welcome Jake.
The Bureau of Engraving and Printing produces 38 million notes a day with a face value of approximately $541 million.

ATH? Nominally yes, but not adjusted for inflation.
Why Cook Islands?
No FIAT currency has lasted for more than 150 years, he means?
When does the limited-edition coin go on-offer to ordinary folks/collectors?

The person who designed this room may have been inspired by Albert Speer's Lichtdom at the Nuremberg Party Rallies. The similarities are striking.
Going to start up fart coins
Why did you interview Jim Rogers with wind blowing his hair everywhere?
Because Jim's hair is not what the conversation and Jim's opinion is about. Maybe you shouldn't be so
superficial.
ITS JUST NUTS 👀
Which passports does Jim Rogers have then?
USA, Portugal, Norway, Japan, Israel and South Africa
Is that German accent?

Sorry to mention Jim it's humanity as the downfall it's not gold and silver I'm sorry to say dumby
