very good video, is it possible to teach us for Windows? Many users do not use Linux, excuse my English as a translator. greetings from Chile
Very nice tutorial, I will have mine coming about next week, so I can set it up like it should be from the start. Thanks again!
Thanks for this!
Anyone able to figure out how to set the clock or change the timezone?
Using the remote control software, you can pull down the control panel like any other android phone. From there you can enter settings and set the time zone and clock.
@@StarShipAdventures Thanks for this tip, but they have locked down the control panel now. When you pull it down it has a padlock on it.
Very nice tutorial :) Is it possible to share youre sounds somwhere? I cant seem to find any good sounds :(
Greetings, excellent video, where can I get those sounds?
Can you create a series on upgrading on Windows 11 vice Linux?? Thanks!
good work bro, can we install applications for other communications besides zello on this radio?
You guys are the best!! Just did your screen mod and the radio is finally usable. I get spectacular battery life and the radio side works great up here in New York on T-Mobile. My only other wish would be the ability to edit the APN to allow for using the cheap $5 sim cards. Anyway, you guys made my day, keep up the great work. 73's WA2JNF..
la sim tiene que ponerla sin el pin code y funciona saludos
You can edit the APN if you use a program like SCRCPY or Total Control to click the buttons
i cant get mine to work on tmobile sim can you explain how you get yours working please
I could really use some help doing this. I am so lost. Can anyone offer me assistance please
Cuál es el programa para modificar este tipo de radios
Hey star ship .. couple questions you might be able to help with .. 1. would like to install hack tools on Mac ... help with that ? 2. would like to set up a lock on screen and programming .. so that when turn on only the settings and channel programmed are available .. perhaps a password required is available ?? Thanks Jeff
I believe it could be done, but beyond what we have done or are planning to do.
you are just a life saveer, can you tell me where you get all your wav files? I can't seem to locat them on the net
could you direct me the way for windows to hack and improve this, also could you add a download link for the key up sound, i cant find it anywhere!
Hello friend, could you teach us how to install Echolink on this radio? My computer's operating system is Windows 11. A hug from PY4RN.
gonna try it , cool video man thanks
As this device don't have a touch screen, you have to navigate through the app by using the buttons. This is pretty difficult, if it comes to things like aktivate or deactivate the "overlay button" (wich covers way to much if the little display) or to activate or deactivate the PTT-button on the hardware of this ZL10 or ZL 50. Is there any manual or tutorial video available for this? KSUN ZL50 also does not have the USB to do configuration via PC.
New to network radios and trying to find a simple solution to replacing our old analog Kenwoods (380s and 980s) at work.
I want get one of these KSUN's and start up a Zello channel as proof of concept before I take this idea to the powers that be for their consideration.
I read on Zello's website that they recommend Vysor (remote control application) on the desktop to install and configure an Inrico T199 (no screen). Would Vysor be a work around to having to use a command prompt and deal with ADB..? Or would the command prompt still be necessary for the screen resizing? I guess that was a long, round-about way of asking if there is a Zello setting that can be accessed using the remote control / mirroring to change the resolution..
Sorry if I'm a bit all over the place. I'm still learning the nuances of the network radio.
Also! Have you used a bluetooth hand mic with this? Would love to hear any suggestions on that front, as this will be ideal for our work application
Yes, Vysor would allow you to skip all the ADB terminal stuff. The screen probably won't need resizing. The "scrcpy" app I used would do the same thing as Vysor.
Is there anyway to get this working on US LTE (TMobile)? it connects to the network, but no data
Super demo, it clearly made my choice of buying this affordable Zello Radio easier. I guess installing good old android Scanner and FM Radio streaming apps possible. It might even work with an old hacked and free Spotify app. Having FM Radio stations and scanner channels on it makes it way more versatile and worth the money. I hope someone has a hack for the Zello app to connect to DMR repeaters directly. That will be the day, right? THANKS.
Wonderfull! Thank you very much!

hello friend, greetings from mexico, I recently purchased this equipment and wanted to know if you know the command to set the time ??
hola amigo, saludos desde mexico, recientemente adquiri este equipo y queria saber si tu sabes el comando para configurar la hora??
Great job! Works great. Like Stuart mentioned in the comments the only thing that would be great is if there is a way to get the APN setup. I bought 8 of these radios to be used in the Caribbean but without being able to set the APN of the local providers we can only use the radios being paired with a smartphone. Would be great to just use a data sim in it.
You can set the APN if you use SCRCPY to remote into the device, then you can use keyboard and mouse to navigate to the APN.
Eiotclub appears to work in mine.
@@glomargadaffi2129 how did you turn on data roaming ? i have vysor to control the radio and cant find the settering to turn on data roaming
@@StarShipAdventuresGreetings friend, ask what is the software used to modify these radios
Hi can we reinstall the firmware? If so, where I can find the firmware? Thankyou
i think you can use a usb mose instead of the computer to to in to the settings. alternativ a bt mouse.
Great video, where I can get the sound file like yours ?
What Sound file do you want, I can help?
@@StarShipAdventures The motortbo digital sound and encrypted sound please
Can you recommend another radio? Maybe one less finicky than these things. I bought one and really kinda hate it. Not much online about network radios
How do you open Terminal.
Depends on the operating system. On linux most desktop environments you just open the launcher and find the terminal there. On windows, you run a program called "CMD" and you can open it by searching for it in the start menu.
Great hack. I will try with one of those radios.
Hey is there anywhere I can find those sounds you sent over to the radio? It would be great to have that many to choose from.
I have reset the resolution twice and every time I power cycle the radio it reverts back to an even larger resolution than I started with. It's useable as a single channel radio as is but not very user programmer friendly. I set up the zello account on my phone then all I had to do was log in to the account on the radio.
I discovered that if I turned the radio on while USB-connected to a computer (Not necessarily the one I programmed it with), it goes back to the resolution I programmed into it.
Using MAC , I’m getting a no Java on the first step I install from web but no dice. Any help
buena informacion como puedo hacerlo a travez de windows gracias saludos
My screen reverts to the crummy factory resolution whenever I turn the radio off and on again. What is the trick to get it to stay at your 260x200 screen resolution??
Unfortunately I have not found a way to stop that. Sometimes a reboot fixes it but you have to restart a few times.
@@josephhacker6508 What a shame, this thing is nearly useless at the default resolution. I guess it was too good to be true...
@@josephhacker6508 something new? I want to buy a pair of ksun zl10, I would like to know if this matter has evolved, thanks!
@@diegoballestagarcia1161 They did another follow-up video a few days ago and pretty much advised everyone to forget about this particular radio, too many problems...
I discovered that if I turned the radio on while USB-connected to a computer (Not necessarily the one I programmed it with), it goes back to the resolution I programmed into it.
Not bagging on the radio, saw them on Amazon and was intrigued. Why would someone need one if you have a phone? Maybe I can understand it being more durable than a phone. I can see there could be some niche situations where it would be a good solution.
I was eyeing a dual bander with the network radio function in a very similar case but it didn't use Zello but a yearly service. If there was a way to get Zello on it instead, I would consider it. If the actual radio portion was DMR, I would pull the trigger.
Because it's fun! That's the main reason we use devices like these when we already have cell phones.
So u can keep your phone in your pocket and if u get a phonecall it won't overlap your zello
This is super helpful! One thing I really want to figure out is how to get this piece of junk to pair with a bluetooth PTT button. I can pair it, but the radio then says it only allows audio devices. Is there a setting you can get to via adb or in developer mode to make this work?
We haven't done any testing in that area yet unfortunately
Nice tutorial! Do you know if this will work with the ZL30?
As long as it is running android it should work.
@@josephhacker6508 is there a startup sequence to put the ZL30 in debugging mode?
what is the sound of the ptt?
good video were i found a waw soud like this video?
How to set the time?
Hi all, I have followed the instructions and all is fine apart from when I restart the radio it forgets the resolution and defaults back to original??? Am I doing something wrong?
I could really use help doing this. I'm absolutely confused
I’m struggling to do this on Mac. Anyone got any advice on how to do this on a Mac?
no puedo agregar sonidos :C
the screen reset at reboot radio
how to i solve it?????
First, learn to type english. Second, we addressed this issue in the "do not buy" video. The only way to solve it is to plug it into a pc again every time you reboot the device and run the resize command again. It's dumb.
you might not answer but can u share a download link for the sounds
did you find any sounds? i vant find any goodones... I found a few that i would lige to share from my nas if someone else shares to :)
APN setting - Does anyone know how to set the APN for your carrier? There is a APN file on the drive under /oem/etc... But I can't do a apn pull on it to DL the file, tweak it, and reupload it. Any wisdom is appreciated.
I have tried editing the APN that comes with the radio for T-Mobile so I could use one of the cheapy sims but if does not want to save the update. Anyone have any luck updating the APN??
was able to do this with windows and the total conrol app. however i had to use the file explorer(music) folder in the zello setting to import the wav files for some reason.
Did you use some sort of screen copy that he mentions around 1:50? Or is it really not necessary?
@@58Alpha ya you kind of need to use it but fear not it seems to be A harmless program. Also worth noting the screen resize does not alway happen on rebooting sometime it goes back to default.
@@hookdup1927 ya well shit, that will be annoying if you have to keep reprogramming the screen. So the windows screen copy then worked well for you, that's a positive then.
Can the Ksun zl 35 be installed with the Teamspeak3 application?
Probably, but we haven't attempted that and can't confirm it.
Where can I get a Firmware update from please? My radio isn't working and when turned on, states "Encryption unsuccessful"; thanks.
do a factory reset... is that possible?
Can im used powershell only for add roger beep zello
Can you learn how to type a coherent message? If so, you could use powershell to add the roger beeps just like you would normally.
Can you change the APN settings to make certain SIM cards work in them?
You can but I still couldn't make it work properly with T-Mobile.
Is it possible to activate dev mode or usb debugging?
USB debugging is enabled by default.
HELP - I did the wm size 240x200 and it looked great. But on reboot, it whent all stupid again. Can I do a adb pull of a file, modify the screen size and push it back up?
The problem is with the firmware on the device. It *is* set correctly on reboot, and ADB will confirm that, but the screen still displays Wong. At this time I do not know of a fix other then plugging it in to your pc every morning and setting it to a small resolution, then back to the good resolution.
@@StarShipAdventures sorry. May I ask which are the code that says remain the size on reboot ? So that I can look into it
I discovered that if I turned the radio on while USB-connected to a computer (Not necessarily the one I programmed it with), it goes back to the resolution I programmed into it.

hello, could you show us how to resize the zello scrren with a win 10 computer, thank you
now working on my side, don't forget to untick the scrren lock feature in zello, because the screen will rotate
@@gillesg7560 the device does not have a orientation sensor, but will rotate if you try to open the non-existent camera. Another side note, sometimes when you power down the radio and turn it on later the screen may be zoomed in weirdly. Sometimes a reboot will fix it and if that fails after a few tries then plug it back into adb and set screen size again.
@@StarShipAdventures thanks for the the advices, do you know what was the resolution by default, I would like to be able to undo the screen resolution modification???

I really want to know what kind of speaker Microphone works with this radio
None as far as we know. You can connect a pair of TRS earphones to it for audio output but I’m not sure about input.
pls show us how to add apps I got scammed on one of these being told it was a FRS radio that went 100 miles if I could install apps on this and use them it would make it worth it. How to install teamspeak3 and PTT side
You might be able to get teamspeak working but I highly doubt it. The screen is way too small and the app too complex to be useful on the KSUN.
Can someone message me I need help doing this. My laptop won't allow me to do it
Boa tarde! Qual a duração da bateria 🔋 desse rádio?
3 dias
Got the screen resolution set and so much better. Only thing is, after device is rebooted, the screen resolution goes back to factory default. Any idea how to fix this?
You have to run the commands every time you restart. Making an automated script helps a lot.
There has to be a way to rewrite command for screen resolution at boot up. Some folders are locked and won't let you look at script
I discovered that if I turned the radio on while USB-connected to a computer (Not necessarily the one I programmed it with), it goes back to the resolution I programmed into it.
@@dawsonhampton8379 very intersting
is there a way to clone one radio once you have all this setup?
Not really. The bootloader is messed up from the factory so you can't clone and upload to another radio unfortunately. You could simply make a script that does all the steps one after the other in a row and just plug the radio in and press go.
@@StarShipAdventures thank you for the response
how do I do this with a windows computer?
Follow the link in the description, I made a guide that links to the windows instructions.
@@StarShipAdventures You said you need a data usb cable. I have one for programming my Cotre, but could not get anything to happen. I also tried a normal usb cable as well. What kind of data cable do I need?
@@RKingis by data cable I simply meant any micro USB cable that has all 4 wires. Some cheap cables only have 2 wires for power only.
@@josephhacker6508 Cool, thanks. I'll have to play around some more.
@@josephhacker6508 I guess there's something wrong with the radio. I can charge, but my computer doesn't see it, but my phone works fine. Even factory reset it. No luck.

I'm pretty sure it's KSUT
It is most definitely KSUN
Is there a way to keep the screen off if im going to press the ptt? Mine keeps on waking the screen if i press the ptt. Thank you
Not if you press the PTT. It’s running Android so it wakes the screen when you PTT no matter what.
@@StarShipAdventures thanks for the info. How about screen brightness adjustment? And time format from 24hr to 12hr format instead?
@@DongConsuegra the screen brightness can be adjusted as well as the clock format by using scrcpy or any other android remote control program. Drag down from the top like you would any normal phone and enter settings from there.
@@StarShipAdventures wow thank you. Il try to do it

I run mumla but as workaroud to start the app I added a text launcer app to get acces to apps that the normal menu gives acces to.
I only need to connect to our mumble server on a pinned chanal and this works fine and the poc radio is usefull.

Nice radio. Too bad is 3G only, here in USA 3G networks have been shut down
The radio supports LTE. My experience with using cellular went as follows. I purchased a 500mb monthly prepaid data SIM card at the T-Mobile store and put it in the radio. It worked flawlessly walking out of the store and on the way home using LTE data to talk on Zello. Once I got home and the radio switched to wifi, and then I left home again, the wifi disconnected but it never started using LTE data again. It showed full signal strength but the Zello app wouldn’t sign back in. Over the course of several days I tried rebooting, reflashing the OS, factory resets, custom APN settings, everything. Once it got back on wifi it absolutely refused to work on LTE again.
I ended up taking the SIM card out of the radio and putting in in an android phone and running the hotspot.
@@josephhacker6508 you are so lucky!. I bought 1 off amazon, tried 4 different nano sim cards from t-mobile, 1 from tello, did not work. Isend it back, they sent me a replacement. Same thing
I'm no attempt ready to modified using with any legitimate complex alteration systems as though I have lacking knowledge but only my concrete reason thus I'm not ready to get any future liabilities whilst I've simply avoiding prosecuted for misadventures
😂😂😂😂😂
On the ZL60 version, the popup for authorizing the USB connection never comes up (at least not anywhere you can see it). Is there an alternate method to allow the computer to connect to it? Do you know if the android version can support a usb-c monitor to see what's going on? Everything else seems solid just can't hit the "ok" button.
On the ZL10 I never had to accept anything to mess with it using android debug bridge.. but if you must, the standard pull down control center menu is there, it just needs to be remoted into using a remote control program like SCRCPY.
Have had mine for a day, and can confirm they're no confirmation screen. They REALLY locked these down So far I've had a ADB keys error, so I'll do some digging how to regenerate ADB keys.
Trialling a HIROYASU Zello Radio and have used an ADB Platform-tools to resize the radios screen (using Cmd: wm size 248x200) but when the radio is powered off/on the screen change isn't saved! Any ideas anyone please? Thanks.
We encountered this as well and couldn't find a fix. The only thing I did to make It not as bad was to create an automated script that would fix the screen every time it connected to my pc over USB. So every morning I'd plug it in for a few seconds to get it ready.
@Southwest Florida Tech Net I found a fix, use ADB command: wm density 47. Then make sure Zello, Options, Appearance = +50%. All ok after power off/on :-)
