I fell well out of love with Muse; they were dynamic and creative and passionate and fun and angsty and brilliant and I LOVED them... for, like, two albums.
Considering how young they are and how inexperienced (at bigger gigs like this), Matt is a natural frontman. They amaze me at how good they all are at playing.
Alternate lyrics: Don't close your eyes, baby, you're gonna break my big surprise. Don't you know that I'm changing and cleansing everything to forget your love. God is in me. Ending: Please...don't break us, please don't change...my love! And I've been in trouble...but you've gone! Oohhh! And I've seen your loving, mine is gone! And I've seen your loving, mine's gone!
All the alternates are pretty awesome... this one is cool because of the cleaner audio... Honestly I think it was Dom’s awesome drum set and incredible skills!
yeah it really seems like matt sang with all of his heart in this one lol more so than his recent performances of this song or even at Eurockeennes 2000
Just close your eyes, baby You don't wanna break my big surprise Don't you know That I'm changing And cleansing everything To forget your love Come on! I think it also has to do with the type of stagea they perform on nowadays, the big stadiums with a huge crowd in the distance and mega lights shows don't seem to invite the same directness as gigs in places like these. I can imagine that creates for a more impersonal relationship with the crowd and that shows in the individual performance. It's all much more orchestrated.
I mean this song is just a fucking banger that blows the roof off any venue they play at. Long may it stay on the setlist. (Had to edit since im a bit sloshed posting this 🥴🥴🥴🥴)

I just came from the 2011 Seattle vers. of this: His playing is LIGHT YEARS beyond here. He flubbed as many notes here as I do when I play it! lol (not too mention their problems with staying on the tempo he started with) I was totally thrashed after seeing him own this while swinging around but after hearing where he started.... Only 12 MORE YEARS TO OWN THIS RIFF! lmao
I tell you what, i used to hate muse. but if you open up your ears and actually listen to them for 5 fucking seconds, you'll see they are a mind blowing band. these guys ROCK FUCKING HARD!!!!!!
First time I heard that intro I found it real jarring. Couldn't quiet know what to make of it. After repeated listening, I find it absolutely brilliant. Not rock, not jazz, just something inbetween.

Bands and artists can and normally do write songs years before their initial release, sometimes they’ll play it live and sometimes they’ll wait for it to be perfected in the studio
FUCKING LOOOOVE IT. I still don't understand how some people can't love Muse.
Right? I can't even describe in words what their music means to me
Putzlumpen YEAH MAN
Right there with you man.
I fell well out of love with Muse; they were dynamic and creative and passionate and fun and angsty and brilliant and I LOVED them... for, like, two albums.
ME TOO! I've tried to get several friends into Muse, but they don't bite. Their loss. (They're old, but so am I, and I love 'em!!)
Considering how young they are and how inexperienced (at bigger gigs like this), Matt is a natural frontman. They amaze me at how good they all are at playing.
@mauricio-yl6ox im pretty sure they were around 20-23
@mauricio-yl6oxaround 21-22
He’s 46 now and still amazes me
Matt definitely put his heart and soul into this song that night. The old version is amazing and the longer ending is so badass.
and 13years later he can play this song while literally running up and down the stage
and while riding a hoverboard
well he has had 13+ years of experience lol
Plug In Baby started with the crowd thinking 'okay, this is not bad' to the massive crowd in a stadium/arena sing along to the riff. What a growth!
Alternate lyrics:
Don't close your eyes, baby, you're gonna break my big surprise. Don't you know that I'm changing and cleansing everything to forget your love.

I miss crazy wierd Matt.
Smith Canning psycho on jools holland he was there for about 30 seconds 😂
He’s still there , just aged
Well I mean he still throws his guitar every concert and jumps on his piano so not all bad.
loondon
Youshs groovy Channel Pretty sure almost all bands do that though, crazy Matt also had more emotion into their music than their newer ones imo.
3:44 is soooo fucking beautiful
Я был на этом концерте,и нашел здесь свою жену ,Бетти,мы вместе уже 22 года,а смысл нашей жизни эта песня
2024 anyone? this performance of plug in baby lives rent free in my mind, so emotional and beautiful
yeah it really seems like matt sang with all of his heart in this one lol more so than his recent performances of this song or even at Eurockeennes 2000
that ending is how they should play it live now.. its fucking awesome!
Definitely the way it should be played. I really hope they go back to their old roots and surprise all of us and play it this way again.
+We Like The Echo I also prefer the lyrics from the pre-2001 version.
My favourite live version. Just perfect.
ok, this is my favorite version of plug in baby. so much feelings at this...
It´s amazing that we have 1080 p videos from 2000!
nope from 2010, then they rendered the video of 2000 in 1080px ... sorry for my bad english
LorenzClaymore no shit sherlock
Alexander Sickisallander get a life
There's been 1080 if noy better since to 80's. It just wasn't used much cuz of the cost
*1990
LOVE that, throughout the whole song, Matt manages to give the audience the middle finger! Lol! :) H xx
He took notes from Kirk Hammett lmao
Just close your eyes, baby
You don't wanna break my big surprise
Don't you know
That I'm changing
And cleansing everything
To forget your love

My plug in baby
Crucified my enemies

Sam Hutchinson 😂 ikr
Little did they know that this song would be sung in a huge ass stadium in Rome with the whole crowd singing the whole song -tear-
This gig sounds magical, every single song, especially plug in baby.
The very best plug in baby...Nothing will ever top this performance
Best version of plug in baby I ever had since 6 years ago.
I sorta miss crazy Matt, when he didn't give a fuck for anything. Anyways, brilliant song, brilliant performance and brilliant musicians.
wut matt still doesnt give a fuck?
+fluorescent adolescent he never gave a single fuck
He's rarely given a fuck. Wyd m8?
I personally don't think he acts in such a natural way on stage as he used to, but that's just my own opinion xddd

This is the best live early muse video I’ve ever seen
Omg the armony in the end was fuckin amazing
so young. so raw. amazing.
Wow, this is a stunning performance of the song. I love the way the song builds and builds towards the end. Shivers! :D
21 and batshit crazy
this is one song that they still play at all gigs.. and its perfect everytime..btw i was 4 months old when this concert happened...wtf
I wasn’t even born, in fact I was only 9 years old when you made this comment

@WithinParaMuse I'm seeing them twice in June, 133 and 123 days left ! Can't wait !
That outro buildup is mindblowing
The effects on this riff have changed so much in the last 10 years. . .
From 3:00 on is so emotional and beautiful
I agree :,)
I second that
So true!
Muse is a gift that keeps on giving
i come back to this performance every day, simply amazin

Origin of Symmetry released on 2001, and this song has been performed in 2000 :O

Akira Nagase So in 1997 : Age 19 Matthew Bellamy just composed the "Best riff of all times" as NME says.

And though this version is great, I think it's worth it that they waited to put it on an album and record it after they found out about fuzz factory.
