my grandpa almost died listening to this song cos he was fighting in vietnam and he was a tank commander and his job was to lure nva soliders out of hiding by playing music loudly
Dunno if anyone gives a damn but if you guys are stoned like me during the covid times you can watch all the new series on instaflixxer. I've been binge watching with my gf recently :)
Perfect? With a war fought over a false flag, funded by Standard Oil. Then then there was the DOW company that invented Agent Orange killed more and sterilized our men. how old were you? Classic tune when we were still young and naïve.
I loved this song when I was young. It reminded me of such fun until the day someone I loved died in an horrific car crash. No more. Youths and their enthusiasm for the fast car are by far the most dangerous of all.
A whole lot of stupid "things" wreckless, now trying to make sense, wish people could change, I wish for a age of innocence!! My bad, I guess what I'm saying, can we please let kid's be kid's.... if you don't have anything go to say we'll you. Know... shove it!!
Just a slight correction to part of the lyrics, it should read, 'Do a ton or a ton and twenty five, meaning 100 MPH, (ton), or a ton and twenty five, 125 MPH, as in 'Biker terms'.
Yeah we're Hap Happy..!
This music it’s the sound of the Caribbean Troubadour,Haïti,Martinique,Guadeloupe & Trinidad, this is a very nice song when we are under Sun for Summer Time,I hope all the people who are in the South of the USA enjoy this this music!
So I've heard the song a long time ago never really gave it a thought I said pretty much the same thing on a different version of this song. But the other day I heard the song and only heard part of it so it got stuck in my head so then I looked it up and listen to it and now I like it. It's so strange how things change like you might like the taste of something at one point now you can't stand it or you couldn't stand it before but now you like it same goes for music movies everything it's just insane to me how much people change with taste and growing it's pretty amazing
🎵In the summertime🎵When the weather is hot🎵You can stretch right up and touch the sky🎵When the weather's fine🎵You got women, you got women on your mind🎵
I just learned that the lyrics don't say "do a turn or return the 25." Doing a "ton" apparently means going 100 kph, so doing a "ton and 25" is saying "go a 100 mph or go 125" because why not "speed along the lane and do a ton or a ton and twenty- five" I needed that to make more sense. I'm posting this on the last day of summer in 2023.
Corrections By Ray Dorset: It's "Do A Ton Or A Ton And 25" And, "Make It Make It Good In A Layba" And, "Were Not Grey People" And, "In The Summertime When The Weather Is High" But Besides That, Good Video, Love From The U.K!
Such a great tune ! Lyrics wouldn’t be allowed these days and was banned uk tv adverts for drink driving. Shame that a simple plain incident tune can now be seen like this
This song was totally not supposed to bring anyone anything but good memories. Maybe silly ones but happy ones, always. Yeah many young people have it that they can do stupid things at the wheel because they will live forever, not really. However, horrific car crashes happens all the time for various causes. Accidents by definition are a combination of factors, it could be human, it could be just the day you're supposed to leave this place, it could be the weather, the only wrong way is to provoke one intentionally. I know life is short so enjoy the riding while you can respecting the other drivers.
I like listening to this song loud with my kids in the car. I tell them it's ok to take advantage of poor girls but respect the rich ones and I tell my daughter that they should be fine because Biden will codify abortions so have at it. The moral compasses in 1970 haven't changed in 2022.
Heard on the radio today just before they were about to play this tune (this is in the UK), the announcer said that they would have to apologise in advance for the unacceptable lyrics contained within this song. They were serious and sincere - and I thought why on earth is this looked upon as in any way offensive . It make you wonder where all this political correctness will end , we will all be too scared to say or comment on anything in the future. I guess it won't be long before this will be added to the long list of "banned on the radio tunes" - such a shame as I'm sure Ray Dorset didn't have any dark intentions when he composed this.
in 1970 we learned as last part of the middle school after examinations in july dancing - on this song, a boys school and a girls school first time coming together, all in fine new Nylon-Clothes, girls in double-synthetic-silk, not easy to handle ; -))

Just a slight correction to part of the lyrics, it should read, 'Do a ton or a ton and twenty five, meaning 100 MPH, (ton), or a ton and twenty five, 125 MPH, as in 'Biker terms'.
It goes "speed along the lane, do a ton or a ton and twenty-five" which means go 100mph or 125mph.
Very simple yet lyrically complex whilst remaining "comically" truthful to all that reminds me of being so...
My world is shattered 😳 i always thought he said "If your daddy's rich take the Alfa Romeo" I once owned an Alfa and played this song in it 😱🤣
Oh no… are you the guy who sings “ There’s bathroom on the right” to the CCR song?

For anyone trying to learn guitar during COVID this is a easy one. Standard 12 bar blues in E, but it’s really all about the groove.

It sucks that the lyrics are sexist but the background music is so fun and happy lol can't hate good music because of the lyrics.
The lyrics are wrong it is " do a ton or a ton and 25 " which means driving 100 or 125.

Probably both 'have a drink, have a drive' and the reference to driving at 100mph or 125mph.
