    I have been watching Formula Off-road for years. Glad to see it is making it to the US more and more.

    And so Tennessee became a flat field, right?
    I grew up watching Icelandic Offroad, later Formula Offroad and the drivers are flat out mental. Big kudos to any American trying to take them vikings on or being able to learn the names.
    Great videos!!!

    I love it when these Icelanders come here. Their buggies must be a lot lighter without all that roll cage steel the rock bouncers have. Power to weight is greatly increased.

      There isn't a bounty hole that exists that these wouldn't fly across, keep that in mind when people are offering thousands if someone can get over them.
      It wouldn't even be a challenge because mud is a lot stiffer than water and these go over ponds with no issues.
      Just think of them as one of rc cars on steroids, that's where the rc cars got the idea from before they started blasting them across ponds.
      If I lived in the U.S. I'd build one just to eat bounty holes it's easy money, I'd call the truck Ha! Because that's what I'd be doing every time I drove it, laugh because they're pretty mental trucks.

    I so love these buggies and the rock bouncers are just epic... Being stuck in the tiny UK where if you spit it'll land in someone's yard, there's no room for this type of event without some bullshit activists trying to get it shut down ... I'd love to get over to the US and see some of this first hand... I mainly do road racing motor bikes... But this is just on another adrenaline level.... Keep up the good work... I'm slowly working my way though all your videos...

      There've been 4 owners of Musso/Choirboy/Thor.
      Haraldur Pétursson build it back in 1999 named it Musso, took him a few seasons to tweek it and figure out the best configurations for the vehicle and would win the Icelandic championship 3 times in a row (2002, 2003 & 2004) and 3 time Fia/Nez Champion (World Champion) (2000, 2002 & 2004).
      Jón Örn Ingileifsson bought it for the 2008 season renamed it Choirboy became Icelandic Champion in 2010 & Fia/Nez Champion in 2009.
      Than Snorri Þór Árnason bought it for the 2013 season and kept the name, became 4 time Icelandic Champion (2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016) and Fia/Nez Champion in 2016.
      Þór Þormar Pálsson than bought it for the 2018 season coloured it red and renamed it Thor and the main sponsor is KFC, he is a 2 time Icelandic Champion 2018, 2019.
      This vehicle is basically the new "blueprint" in Icelandic Formula Offroad as it's been the winning vehicle of the Icelandic championship 10 times with 4 drivers. Hekla and Guttinn-Reborn are basically copies of Haraldur's original design.

    • @BustedKnuckleVideo
      @BustedKnuckleVideo  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I somewhat understand the rules but not 100%, I'll work on that for the next one. They get points for making it through each gate. So many points per tire actually.

    • @varolason8263
      @varolason8263 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are 350 points for going full length.
      Than we have the penaltie points. -10 for stoping, -20 for touching a marker, -40 for driving over a marker, -40 for reversing, -80 if only one wheel goes through the gate. Penalties in final gate are halved.
      Black flagged if vehicle has been stationary for over a minute, reversing beyond last gate cleared and for driving out of the track.
      Time attacks 350 points for fastest time. -20 for touching/driving over a marker, no penalties for stoping and reversing other than the time lost doing so. -1 point for every 10th of a second slower than fastest time.
      Hope that helps :-)

    It's a trip watching them formula off-road guys ... and the hills they take ,,, all together different ... I see a Rock Bouncer and they're doing pretty good ... Do you think that they'll be any merging of the two ??? I don't think sand and rock mix ... Just looks too different ,,, but something good got 2 come out ... appreciate you keeping us up-to-date on it ... Dave ...

      I've seen you in the shop with some of the coolest looking baddest ass bouncers out there ... I'm pretty sure you build those things ,,, is there any part of the F1 design that looks like it might be used ... just asking ... D

    • @BustedKnuckleVideo
      @BustedKnuckleVideo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We hope they can come back over to the US and play again. Our buggies are engineered for abuse, I doubt F1 would transfer much over to us.

    • @davidcarpenter9232
      @davidcarpenter9232 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah you could probably make two of them F1 frames ,,, out of one bouncers frame worth of tubing ... yeah I'm beginning to see it ,,, apples and oranges ... Sometimes it just ain't a fit ...

    Big difference in the setup of the Formula off road trucks. Weights is kept low, mostly in the axles and drivetrain. not as much roll cage weight. These things also have straight up drag racing style motors. they achieve much greater wheel speed on demand. Even the turbocharged "Cube" is making extreme wheel speed for its weight. you'll also notice the wheel travel is stiffer on the shocks keeping better contact with the ground. It would be interesting to see these go up against a rock bouncer where you actually have rocks and roots involved?? Definitely be fun too watch!!!!

    • @BustedKnuckleVideo
      @BustedKnuckleVideo  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was with you until the "stiffer shocks to keep better contact with the ground" part?

    • @infinite7501
      @infinite7501 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct! My mind was in reverse. I should have thought about how I said that. I guess a better way to put it is that these guys have years of experience on setting up the shocks to keep better ground contact on these types of courses. The rock bouncers would definitely have the edge on the set up for something like Bounty Hill... Appreciate the videos you post! @@BustedKnuckleVideo

      Lol, more along the lines of building crazy vehicles, like Leyroy the savage or even the jet car.
