Roughly about how many years did it take ur elm to “bark up” as much as it has? I have a rough bark elm, only a 3yr old seedling. I know it’s a decade or more away from being anything presentable
Actually, I got this tree from San Gabriel Nursery almost 10+ years ago. It already had that bark. However, the bark is rather soft compared to other cork elms in my collection.

I like to prune trees at or during bud push as it almost guarantee no to little branch die back
