First time watcher. When I didn't hear you speak I assumed you were from Norway or something. Pleasant shock to "hear" you're from here! One of the best parts was you eating chips waiting for the glue to dry! Thank you for sharing. Mike
Hi Art Saw this on line last year and made one. I used old pressure treated 4 x 4's. Cut off the corners on the table saw to make it octagonal, cut the angle at 45* and wrote the numbers on with magic marker. Grandkids loved it. Me too. Simple and a good yard game. Tim Sway would love the re-use of old materials. Randy Cosgrove
Myself and Grandson Jesse enjoyed your video, a great project, Thanks for sharing ! when you were eating your crisps/chips we found it amusing, and we had ideas the next scene You'd have a big pillow up your t-shirt with what looks like a swollen belly, where you'd eaten so much crisps/chips whilst waiting for your glue to dry :)
You can build it in a weekend! Molkky is a Finnish throwing game, invented in 1996, which I had never heard of... But I learned that it's a very simple project that can be built in a few evenings. (A friend asked me if I could make a Molkky set for them. I did some research online and then designed my own set in Sketchup and set about building them.) I used glued up 2x4 stock to make the pins. I used a huge round-over bit to make the pins roundish. I used some cherry hardwood (for more mass) for the throwing stick. Looks cool. Have you thought about make a quick set for resetting the pins? Thatd be awesome. This way the pins would always be the exact distance apart.
maybe you should make platforms for the pins to stand on. a long pin in the center to push platform on top of the grass. then you don't have to mow the grass to play and you can rename it "Dorkky" and say it's an American game :>) great video
WOOOW DUDE! Last video you said "see you next time" and here i am! How did you know! Are you like a fortune teller or something? Lets see if it comes true again!

Great project to enjoy with family and friends! Always interesting and inspiring.
Great build, looks like fun. Might have to give it a try.
Great build Art and a nice bit of 'The Jay Bates' that's knocking around lately. Cheers, Barry (from England)
I salute Jay! :-)

That would work only for the start of a game.. As the game progresses the pins get stood up where they fall.
Ahhh. Got it. You have a new subscriber. Sweet channel!!!
Awesome project Art!
Had an opportunity to day to play with this very game that Art made today. Works good. I even won my game.
Thank-you
Looks like fun, if I could convince the kids to put down their smartphones long enough to play. :) Nice shop-made blast gate, too.
The blast gate is sort of copied from one by Marius Hornberger. Don't remember which one of his videos...

I've tried the acetone transfere method. can't seem to get good results.
I never get 100%, but I accept that going in. Pine did really well, surprisingly.
What kind of blade is that in your tablesaw?
Combination blade. Probably this one: www.leevalley.com/en/Garden/page.aspx?p=30059&cat=1,41080,41165&ap=1
we had a set, and my kids left them all out in the garden, and they went black. what you gonna do~?
Almost thought Jay Bates was going to show up during the glue drying pause :)
someday maybe...

This is interesting, I've never heard of Molkky before... 🤓
