Fun fact: Had Persephone kept her damn mouth shut and not gloat her plan to Kratos, she would 100% have succeeded.
No it wouldn't have done much,
You could see the pullers collapsing from elysium so Kratos would've figured it out eventually also since Persephone wanted to get revenge on the Gods, she wanted their most loyal servant tormented not knowing what he can do once he's desperate.
It's a combination of the classic Greek hubris and the inevitability of the plan failing regardless.
She seemed to almost want to fight Kratos. She taunts him, and literally waits for him at the steps, then armors up and takes him to the tower up there. I'm pretty sure it was personal-she wanted to kill the champion Olympus had chosen, personally.
It wasn’t even provoked. She just appeared out of nowhere, interrupted the exact moment she wanted to play out, and gave Kratos every reason to turn against her.
@@User-es3em But Kratos only made it up there in time because Persephone didn't immediately fly off. She had to brag. Then slowly walk up the stairs. It's poor writing
@@dustinjones7458
That makes no sense because she could have just killed him when he gave up his powers.
Ironically enough Persephone and Hades are one of, if not the most, functional relationships in the Greek pantheon
Wasn't she tricked by Hades and Zues into this though? Also, Hades is an ugly mofo so we wouldn't have been able to get laid anyways
@@6210classick No he isn't god of war hades isn't accurate to the hades described in greek mythology and she wasn't "tricked" into falling in love with him she fell in love with him on her own
Greek Myth fact: Kratos was born from a Titan and a God and of course, not the God of War. But Kratos is the God of Strength, Power and Might. Hades, God of the Underworld and Persephone, Goddess of Spring and Queen of the Underworld relationship is complicated? Hades had an affair with a nymph named Minthe that soon Persephone found out and turned the nymph into a mint plant. Persephone had an affair with a human servant to Aphrodite, Goddess of Beauty and Love. The servants name was Adonis whom had died and his soul was sent to the Underworld. Calliope, or in Greek: "Kalliope" was the eldest of the Mousai (Muses). She is the Goddess of Music, Songs and Dance. Also, is one of the nine daughters of Zeus and she judged and settled the dispute between the goddesses Aphrodite and Persephone over Adonis.
She’s also his niece. I like Greek mythology but it always found that to be really weird
@@bernardwilliams2946 Yes, it is. More of incest cause most of the Greek Gods are related to each other. And I too like Greek Mythology as well.
Where is my daughter witch??
I think I found a good way to start a conversation with my ex wife.
Just make sure that she isn't Persephone.
Oh no 😂
Am sorry dude I know what is like haveing a shitty relationship but I was never married.
Lol your evil two years later
Laye good luck
"Your suffering will never end...ghost of Sparta". This sentence by Persephone was truly epic and chilling.
It's theorized by fans that this may be the cause of his immortality, she possibly cursed him by saying your suffering will never end. And since his suffering continues through his life, he cannot die.
No
Watching Kratos push Calliope away was really hard, I almost didn't want to tap "O".
That must have hurt kratos so much
Fun fact, this QTE it takes most O presses to complete, far more than any other in the series (e.g. Killing Minotaurs or trying stop Zeus from stabbing you in GOW2) implying that literally this was Hardest thing Kratos ever did and took all his strength to do. Heartbreaking.
@musclesimp Well, it's not Kratos fault.
@musclesimp Yeah, but the gods and titans are treated Kratos as a dog. Kratos promised the gods to remove his past that hunts him and they're not doing anything. Yes, he kill his wife and daughter but Ares tricked Kratos, Ares and Athena kidnap Deimos because she thinks that Kratos brother is a threat of a Olympus. So I don't blame Kratos. The Gods and the titans are the blames.
@musclesimp That was Ares fault for making Kratos psychopath mass murderer, but Kratos is still an antihero.
"Choose your words carefully ghost of sparta. You address the goddess of the underworld!" One of the most badass and powerful line that I have heard. Full of authority as it comes out of Persephone's mouth...
Like Kratos cares
Hades loved that in bed
She really should’ve listened to herself. She probably could’ve won if she did.
Like we care ur comment
lmao it was lame as fuck
19:05 Kratos' human feeling, we rarely find phrases that he touches us, in the classic saga of the god of war...
Bro was about to cry after making a mf hold the damn world up on HIS shoulders like bro cry me a river asshole look at the position you put me in 😂
Peresphone was never the same after Hades showed her that thumb separating trick.
Is this a joke on the "green thumb" thing ? If so, I love it.
Idk if this is a reference to that SolidJJ video but it got me laughing hard
I bet if Persephone was alive in God of war 2 and 3 there is no doubt that she would help Kratos kill Zeus and other gods. I would love to see that even though she might try kill Kratos.
If she is in Elysium no way she would tolerate her Fathers World Ending Actions
I would doubt it. Her husband is Hades. And they had one of the most functions relationships in Greek mythology
@@maclunky_skywalker5187 since when God of war has been accurate to Greek Mythology? Plus Persephone doesn't like nor love Hades and the other gods in God of war universe.

@@punisher8632 hey man, i dont know if im late, but anyway, is actually easier than it looks:
the trick is to use the zeus gaunlet/glove, avoid those big rocks and when she use that 2 combo hit, just jump and use the R1 + CIRCLE in the air (is that glove power that kratos kind of make a little thunder or wathevers) just before she hit yu; she will miss, and proceed to throw a rock - so you avoid again and start over ....

13:43 I love how Persephone's trying to hypnotize Kratos.
The women in the original GoW trilogy had some intriguing outfit designs.😏
Chill 😂
Compared to the Fates of all people, she’s decently dressed.
Her hair cut looks so stupid tho
So what?
Well true
Persephone looks like a valkyrie
@Mauricio Flores actually Valkyries are the original and there is no winged form of Persephone in the mythology it's inspired by a Valkyrie
Actually, she and Lahkesis from GoW II look better than Valkyries from the new GoW that have nothing feminine and look like automatons...
I miss Greek GoW bosses... where devs werent afraid to create enemies that show some skins...

If kratos was smart enough he would've look at the signs before he went to calliope then he would've made peace with her but he destroyed it if he wasn't ignorant. You can tell when she talks to kratos about the gods had betrayed her that's when she really wanted them dead that was her first sign and she clearly gave him a warning which was her second sign but he ignored both of them.
Persephone talks about Hades betraying her, but in actuality they were the most functional couple in the Greek Pantheon
No they are not
He literally gave her a fruit so she could not live the Underworld without her knowing it. If that's not a betrayal... XDD
Him giving her the seeds to stay in the underworld was simply in fear of Demetor not letting her daughter return to him, every other bad thing hades did in the dang story was because of Zeus, because of course
Of course NOT ever heard of Eros and psyche ? Ariande and Dionysus ? And even Orpheus and Eurydice even if their tale was a bit tragic , Stop telling yourself lies because that's cringe , even Poseidon and Nerites had a better CONSENSUAL relationship , there's Odysseus and Penelope , like dude off the top of my head I can think of so many more functional relationships
And journalists say Kratos only became a character once he went Norse.
(Kinda cheap shot, but then journalists deserve it. The way his voice cracks when he yells to Atlas and all he had to do to get where he was, just heartbreaking)
It’s just a bunch of tropes and buzzwords ,kratos has plenty of character pre Norse pantheon
Yeah, he maybe hot head boiled brute in most pre Norse series. But his character it still clear and complex.
Modern storytelling considers a character once he evolves. Before Donquixote (the first modern novel) characters where considered 'archetipes'; ideal heroes, flawed villains, mischiveous rascals, wise elders... greater than life characters, complex even... but consistent trougth the story. The things they live, the choices they make... seems to not affect them. They continue to be the same archetype they where from the begining to the end.
Greek Kratos was more of an archetipe in the greek saga. He is a furious vengfull antihero; brutallity and arrogance are his constance... yes he has his moments of humanity and emotion; like here... but I don't think he has evolved. Allways angry, allways deffiant... I see him the same in all the games. I don't see him learnign, changing his behavior... In the first game he has the longest journey; from vengfull warrior pissed with the gods; he manages his vengance... but nothing has changed, and looses all hope.
Until he is offered the office of Ares, and maybe a new path is oppened for him... Until the 2nd game where he is shown even angrier, more arrogant and defiant of the gods, so he continues in his path for two more games... again, a glimpse of evolution when he sacrifices himself to free the Hope? But its not so mutch out of personal growth but to take revenge on Athena, who he has added to his list... this game is no different. Angry, vengfull, arrogant... a tender moment here, but he inmediatelly goes back to his archetype.
In the Norse saga, we begin with an allready changed man. NOW all his adventures have changed him. He is so affected by all he lived that he despises godhood itself. He is haunted. Does not want to be the Ghost of Sparta... but he is unable to moove on and be a human again. But on his journey with Atreus, he is forced to change. He needs to accept his godhood to survive. He tries to be better for his son sake. He takes arms again but in a completelly different way than before. The Kratos we see in the ending cinematic is talkative, sharing stories with his son, having tenderness, opening his feelings, trusting and accepting people in his life... nothing to do with the brute rougth in the edges lumberjack who jells 'boy' to his son in the opening and speaks with grunts.
Not to mention the second game. HUGE character growth not only exploring the events of GoW 2018 but revisiting the events of the original games.
So if the journalis considers a character needs growth and evolution not to be considered a simple archetype (hey, nothing wrong with been archetypes; Hercules is an archetype; he does not develop at all in his adventures, still good legends to be told) he is kinda rigth...
Kratos was an archetype in his greek journey... but he is a character in the nordic saga. And modern audiences tend to value characters with evolution and development. After all, is what real humans do. We evolve out of experience.

If Ares was the first god killed by a mortal (Kratos), why did Persephone not count?
retcons my friend
Well, she would be counted as a the first Goddess to get killed by him instead tho.
She's not technically a god, more like a queen. She is the daughter of one but she's not considered an olympian and is FAR weaker than most of the gods kratos defeated. She mostly gets her power due to her position as Queen of the Underworld. So technically she's not a god
Because that game its forgotten

Probably wouldn't have really done anything to them, they're already dead anyway.
That music build up when Kratos is flying with Persephone is so badass
Persephone like classic stupid villain tells about her evil plans
You see she was not stupid she was confident that she could stop Kratos if he tried to stop her and atlas was half way done with what she told him to do , so do you understand now not stupid but, she had a good merit or right to be overconfident.
Also why didn't he call his daugher, girl
they didn't come up with the name for atreus until late in game development so to save time, they used the term 'boi' as a way to call/acknowledge him
I think it might just be Kratos being cold so he doesn’t feel as sad when he loses him. Since papa Krato loses a lotta peeps

@@baroquechevalier8516 thanks for correcting me
Yes you are right but this soundtrack is similar not likely but almost of God of war 3
Lacrimosa vibes
It's funny how often Kratos finds himself in a pantheon's underworld. Hades has a frequent flyer card for Hades/Tartarus, while also having the pass for Helheim's tow bridge.
Hel/Hela in GOW should be a combination of Persephone and Erinys (and Shelob from Shadow of War). Given she has the a part of Helheim and that doesn't like .... anyone - she needs to cold, spiteful, sexy and antisocial to the thousandth degree. So, basically Hel from the game Viking Battle For Asgard. The scary thing is that she don't talk much because she is comfortable with silence. He cold deathstare is enough cuz in the myths she has her burning eyes that sears the souls of the wicked.
But who will voice act her I wonder?
Maybe I’m overthinking but Persephone didn’t seem to want to actually destroyed the world, she just wanted to die.
I mean she genuinely seem to aid kratos against her own fight. Tell him what he has to do stop her. Even at the beginning, in restropect she go are sure you want to do this ? It’s not the right thing to do.
Look to me she had a win win plan either she died by kratos hand or every one died with her including the other god
No she wanted to destroy the world
She couldve just asked kratos to kill her
Kratos literally had no choice here, whatever he'd do will just separate him from his daughter, dude can't be more angry or sad
Sad fact: In Greek Mythology, Persephone was kidnapped by Hades only to be taken to the Underworld, made to be his wife against her wishes.
😂 The developers were jerks with pressing “O” to push Kratos daughter away, that’s so cold.
