GTA games relies on CPU power, which is basically the same as ps5 standard (around a 3700x). Which will run at 30fps, maybe 40fps with pssr, but thats about it
The answer is obviously no. And it's barely even subjective. Sony I saw out of touch with what consoles are designed to be which is alternatives to PCS because they're cheaper and more compatible with TVs. Having a home console without a disc drive is wild.
This is the problem with having stronger gpus, many (not all) devs abuse the power and saddle their games with so much graphical enhancements it knocks the FPS back down to 30fps. Really wish platforms would make 60fps compulsory. Graphics be damned.
A stricter policy on that would be awesome, though probably more work to enforce than Sony would be willing to put resources into 😂 It's a shame because in another context, we love seeing it on the Steam Deck with Verified games - why stop at the little guy for quality control!
Skimmed through several reviews but has yet to find anyone that really take the PSVR2 into account. It's what I'm after the most on how much of a difference it'll make to base PS5.
ngl I've wanted VR2 purely for GT7 but could never justify the cost when I still have to upgrade my racing rig That said, the selection of games being updated are mainly for enhanced graphics modes. I wouldn't expect a significant improvement in VR2 gameplay unless game patch notes obviously call it out (which I haven't personally seen floating around yet) I'd try it on GT7 with our office headset but the patch for Pro isn't even out yet 😭
I'm still disappointed by the diminishing returns of upgrading from PS4 to PS5. There's no way I'm dropping £700 (plus another £100 for a disc drive) for an even more incremental and hard to notice upgrade.

the whole console vs pc debate in 2024 makes no sense. These two serve different purposes.Consoles have assurance and reliabilty that when u have $500 spent on a machine u can expect it to play games at 4k 30fps for a while meanwhile a pc can perform various tasks. I think the bigger problem is if this is $700 and they a piecing every component separate. What is the ps6 going to be looking like. Obviously it’s get it if you want but I think people being critical of it is very good.
I've got one and the difference is very noticeable. I love the fact you can have fidelity and performance at the same time. The games that are pro enhanced look incredible. When you think about it it's around £390 for new ps5 slim digital with 1tb of storage. The pro comes with 2tb. A 1tb ssd is about £100 ish. So for £150 more you get a more powerful console which in my opinion is well worth it if you have the money. The games do look and perform amazing.
Picked up the PS5 Pro with a separate order for the disc drive. I use this mostly to play games or watch movies at my PC desk. The improvement on the graphics has been awesome. If I had a lower budget, I would not buy this. I think it's only for people who won't miss the money and want the best out there. Having it now, I would still buy it again. The only thing I truly felt was stupid, was the stand. GOod luck gaming everyone!
Am I the only one that hate these "Pro" or upgraded variants of consoles nowadays? They should of just update the standard ps5 to run/look better instead of coming out with a whole new console. It's ridiculous here in the UK the shortage of disc drives they are ment to be £80-100 but they are out of stock everywhere and £180+ on eBay. The price of the console should have included a disc drive and edge controller.

It's the "in love with the prestige of the company name and product premium feeling" that makes people waste money blindly. Now, in my eyes, the PS5 Pro is only worth $699 (small margin of buyers) with the stand and the disc and maximum everything. Without the disc - $649 (medium margin of buyers) and without the stand and disc - $549 (high margin of buyers). Then I proceed to continue with our poor PC choice that doomed us in the PC community by worshiping Nvidia, AMD, and Intel; hence, why the PC community is where it is now with outrageous pricings on CPUs and GPUs. We all know for example that the 4090 is only worth $1200 and every cards below that you subtract $200-$300. But, we did this to ourselves by not keeping these companies in check and refusing to buy their products and now are doomed with outrageous pricing. If the console community does not heed the mistake of the PC community and allow Sony to price their PS5 Pro as such a ridiculous price and worship Sony and buy the PS5 Pro at full price of $900, 4 years from now when the PS6 cost $899 and the PS6 Pro costs $1200 and that is being generous with these numbers - what will the console community say then? Would they bite the bullet and quietly buy it fully knowing it is not worth that price or wished they would have kept Sony in check when the PC community shared with them their own dumb mistake? The PS5 Pro is not worth $900 but simply $699, $599, and $549. This is how we keep companies in check to build only the best product for us worth every pennies, or else, we keep our money in our wallets.

The PS6 is probably only going to have 7900xt or less levels or performance with at best something like a 5700x3d. Digital foundry said this ps5 pro is the equivalent of the rx 6800, a 4 year old card
I played some Stellar Blade and I immediately could tell a difference from the Base PS5 version. Monster Hunter Wilds is the game I'm looking forward to most next year and Dynasty Warriors Origins I'm curious how many more soldiers we can get on the screen.
Sony should be giving the consoles away, they've already trained consumers to buy games and content online as well as store them online only, only a fool would pay for that privilege. Personally I would only buy a console if I could buy the game to use offline when I want.
The disc drive thing still confuses me. It's just like the original release. I bought a PS5 pro, and love it. Quite a bit of games already taking advantage of the power. Spiderman 2 is a master piece! God of War Ragnarok looks Stellar. Games are only gonna get harder to run, and PS5 Pro will be the best console to have it on..
I say right now it’s not really needed but within a year or so if u don’t have the pro u will be left behind ina way I think the original ps5 should’ve been the pro to begin with and it would’ve been fine. And I agree if they added the pro controller bundle in a game with it then people would be flooding the stores to get one. People are lying to you if they say its worth it, it def is not worth it at all. My friends got one and was saying how amazing it is, I went and tried it and could barely tell the difference. can i argue that it DOESNT beat most pc's you can build at 700 dollars? you can build a pc with a 4060 GPU and have better frame rates than a ps5 or pro.. its not going to run those game great in 4k but neither is the ps5 pro and most people dont even play their games in 4k to begin with.. ill take lower resolution and a way higher frame rate over slightly better graphics and maxing out at 30-60 fps.
The way I see it, if you have the launch playstation 5, like myself, it's worth getting the pro and flipping the OG to make up some of the cost. If you got the slim then no, it's not worth it.

It is expensive if you could buy a PC with similar performance for the money. 6700XT is not quite as good as PS5 Pro, but could be found below $300. You could build decent PC for $700.

Idk wtf it is but I haven't been able to watch a single denki video in a while. This is the only channel I'm subbed to have the issue of English audio not being an option. It's my PS5, phone, and PC, all having the same issue.

look i play the odd game. even then it has been at least 5 or more years since i played. i fired up my ps 3 to see if it still worked as it has been connected to the power for years. played a bit of tomb raider looked great. and my controllers charged and even held there charge. i do not game on pc. i really wanted the disc drive so brought a slim the other day. have not opened it yet in case i go pro. i can take it back. got it on special for 669.00 AUD. the pro will be 1200.00 AUD. no disc drive and still can't get one. and sony is releasing more but maybe not till 2025. i think the 5 will be a nice upgrade from the 3. so might skip the pro.

I have the physical copy of crysis remastered for my xbox series x 1tb version and non oled nintendo switch version. I even have crysis remastered on pc because of can it run crysis mode. Crysis remastered is my favorite game because of can it run crysis mode on the pc version. Crysis remastered is my reference and benchmark of 4k gaming because of can it run crysis mode. For pc, I always have can it run crysis mode for every graphics settings in native 4k resolution, ray tracing always enabled, dlss always off, v sync always off, motion blur always off, and ray tracing experimental boost always enabled. I use can it run crysis mode in every graphics settings for crysis remastered for pc because the can it run crysis mode demands every last bit of hardware. I play every game only in 4k resolution and nothing in less than 4k resolution and the graphics settings are always maxed out with upscaling always off because I never use the upscaling settings in any game. I treat every game to demand every last bit of hardware in the same way as can it run crysis mode. I play all the games for the highest visual fidelity without using any upscaling at all even when the games struggle to get decent frame rates. For games on pc that support ray tracing, I always use ray tracing 100% of the time, have unlimited frame rate always enabled, frame rate cap always off. I never use the upscaling graphics for the games because the upscaling looks pixelated and less detailed compared to native 4k. I treat 4k gaming similar to audiophiles nit pick audio but I treat it in the same process as 4k gaming.

I bought a PS5 pro, and love it. Quite a bit of games already taking advantage of the power. Spiderman 2 is a master piece! God of War Ragnarok looks Stellar.
Games are only gonna get harder to run, and PS5 Pro will be the best console to have it on..

I say right now it’s not really needed but within a year or so if u don’t have the pro u will be left behind ina way I think the original ps5 should’ve been the pro to begin with and it would’ve been fine. And I agree if they added the pro controller bundle in a game with it then people would be flooding the stores to get one. For just a console and have to buy the disc drive separately, the only reason u would buy it is if u can easily afford it.

People are lying to you if they say its worth it, it def is not worth it at all. My friends got one and was saying how amazing it is, I went and tried it and could barely tell the difference. Only way I would pay that much is if i actually get more frames like how a PC could. If I am still stuck at 60 or on like overwatch 120, whats the point? Your comment makes no sense, in the price of TV department, 900 is pretty cheap and a TV does a lot. Your helldivers isnt gonna play any better on the pro, your frames arent going to go up, you might see a leaf that is not as blurry. the fact u think the pro is a big jump is just not true, buy what you want but your comment doesnt make any sense at all. I have a C4 that can run 144hz , this pro console still cant even do that so its pointless to upgrade, i would have def upgraded if it could but it cant!

can i argue that it DOESNT beat most pc's you can build at 700 dollars? you can build a pc with a 4060 GPU and have better frame rates than a ps5 or pro.. its not going to run those game great in 4k but neither is the ps5 pro and most people dont even play their games in 4k to begin with.. ill take lower resolution and a way higher frame rate over slightly better graphics and maxing out at 30-60 fps.
The way I see it, if you have the launch playstation 5, like myself, it's worth getting the pro and flipping the OG to make up some of the cost. If you got the slim then no, it's not worth it.
I like the idea of a ps5 pro and owned the ps4 pro however its a hard sell when for same price I could upgrade to AM5 and get the 9800x3d.

It is expensive if you could buy a PC with similar performance for the money. 6700XT is not quite as good as PS5 Pro, but could be found below $300. You could build decent PC for $700.

look i play the odd game. even then it has been at least 5 or more years since i played. i fired up my ps 3 to see if it still worked as it has been connected to the power for years. played a bit of tomb raider looked great. and my controllers charged and even held there charge. i do not game on pc. i really wanted the disc drive so brought a slim the other day. have not opened it yet in case i go pro. i can take it back. got it on special for 669.00 AUD. the pro will be 1200.00 AUD. no disc drive and still can't get one. and sony is releasing more but maybe not till 2025. i think the 5 will be a nice upgrade from the 3. so might skip the pro.

If the pro can smoothly run raytracing and quality modes at 60 fos then it's well worth the money

I hope the ps5 gets a physical copy of crysis remastered since the xbox series x and even the nintendo switch already have the physical of crysis remastered. I have the physical copy of crysis remastered for my xbox series x 1tb version and non oled nintendo switch version. I even have crysis remastered on pc because of can it run crysis mode. Crysis remastered is my favorite game because of can it run crysis mode on the pc version. Crysis remastered is my reference and benchmark of 4k gaming because of can it run crysis mode. For pc, I always have can it run crysis mode for every graphics settings in native 4k resolution, ray tracing always enabled, dlss always off, v sync always off, motion blur always off, and ray tracing experimental boost always enabled. I use can it run crysis mode in every graphics settings for crysis remastered for pc because the can it run crysis mode demands every last bit of hardware. I play every game only in 4k resolution and nothing in less than 4k resolution and the graphics settings are always maxed out with upscaling always off because I never use the upscaling settings in any game. I treat every game to demand every last bit of hardware in the same way as can it run crysis mode. I play all the games for the highest visual fidelity without using any upscaling at all even when the games struggle to get decent frame rates. For games on pc that support ray tracing, I always use ray tracing 100% of the time, have unlimited frame rate always enabled, frame rate cap always off. I never use the upscaling graphics for the games because the upscaling looks pixelated and less detailed compared to native 4k. I treat 4k gaming similar to audiophiles nit pick audio but I treat it in the same process as 4k gaming.
