- Hey guys, we're getting real close to the holidays now and I figured I would theme this video as a fairytale story about photographing the barred owl! (It also helps cover up the fact that I lost a ton of audio for this video! Haha)
So, join me on this adventure as I photograph wildlife in a winter wonderland with the Sony a7iv and the 200 600.

Lovely video man, congrats on the footage of the barred owl! Wish we had them here in Sweden.
Thank you so much, Olle! Your words mean a lot to me. Hopefully you can travel somewhere and experience them one day.
Oh my goodness... what a video. Blown away.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Wonderful footage. Congrats on finding the barred owl and managing to get beautiful footage without disturbing it. Perseverance paid off. Plus the squirrels were super-cute 🥰
Thank you so much! I was really happy with this encounter and yes the squirrels are always cute. Can’t ignore them haha
Amazing work on this video. I truly appreciate your effort not to disrturb the Owl!! Merry Christmas!
Thank you, Merry Christmas!
amazing video Curtis, i loved the intro cinematic feel with the voice over. Photos and video quality is always top notch !
Thank you, I really appreciate the comment!
I had originally considered using an AI voice to create a fairytale like intro. But this version won!
Awesome footage and congratulations on finding that Barred Owl. I loved that footage of the owl doing the leg stretch!
The owl was really showing off its balance with that stretch haha. Thanks for commenting, glad you enjoyed!
Great intro and great video overall. I really like the transition you made when the snow fell.
Thank you! I kept filming before I realize the lens was fully covered in snow lol. Rolled the footage back and knew it would be a cool transition! Glad you caught that.
Great story, thank you for sharing. Always interested in how to carry my 200-600 Sony lens, much less on a bike.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed! I usually hang my lens off my backpacks waist belt, helps take some weight off the shoulders. On a bike though, I usually have to pack it away, which makes me miss out on the action sometimes.
INCREDIBLE!! such an amazing observation
Thank you!
Great footage, cool editing. I enjoyed the video!
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed!

Amazing!
Thank you!
brilliant 👏
Thank you! 😊
The footage from the owl is amazing!😍
Thank you! It was sooo difficult cutting the footage down into key moments.
Wow! Great footage of the beautiful Barred Owl!
Thank you!
Gorgeous footage, really nice vid. Just shows you don’t need log profiles for quality video.
Thank you, I really appreciate the comment! I’ll have to learn how to work with log footage eventually, but I can do quite a bit with the standard 10bit footage in the mean time!
Awesome Curt!
Thank you!
Nice job man!!
Thank you, I appreciate the comment!!
Beautiful barred owl, both in pictures and in video.
Joan
Great video, do you live near this forest?
Thank you, I appreciate it! This is my closest local park, I manage to find wildlife potential just about anywhere I end up though.
What LUT did you use, please? (for Sony clips)
I actually tried something new in this video, I used the match tool to match the video clips to my edited photo of the barred owl. So it’s all custom!
As for my camera, I don’t have a picture profile on at the moment. Im just shooting standard Sony colours at 10bit.
Bro, you just need to apply presets to your photos, and your photos will look more attractive.✅
I might have to start considering this, I used to love fully editing the photos myself. But I never have time for that, especially with the focus I put into the video side of things now.
Thanks for commenting!
No real photographer uses presets. They are gimmicks that can make a photo look more generic at best, and completly ruin it at worst. Free hand editing allows for much more creativity and unique looks.
@@malonipastroni395 when I give myself time, I really enjoy the editing process. Which allows me to keep my nature photos a little more natural.
