    What’s funny to me is that I watched this version first and was curious why you’d done the bottom the way you did. Turns out you explained that in the longer version. I wish the algorithm didn’t drive towards short videos, I like those small details. I find your thinking behind design decisions as interesting as the making sometimes.

    This was the video that taught me the term "ramekin". Until then, I had always referred to them as "crocks". What I REALLY miss is all your marble machine stuff. That's what originally attracted me to your channel and all the quality woodworking fun kept me around for all this time!

    What an amazingly robust and simple design, and such a satisfying "TUNG/THUNK" sound when it latches.

    I watched this years ago and I was confused when I saw the thumbnail again in 2022. Was a good watch especially when you used the shim in your box joint jig and cut them all at once.

    Nice to see it still works! I do agree with some of the other comments, my favorite part of the last video was the context of why you were making the tray. I thought it was really sweet that you made something for you and your brother to enjoy

    Matthias, you're not perfect, no mortal man is. But I believe TH-cam as a whole is a better place because of you. My dad and I used to enjoy watching your videos together over the years. He passed away 12-2021 and every new upload since, I think of him and how much he might have enjoyed your constant creativity and little ramblings. Don't stop creating OR rambling!

    I enjoy watching your old videos (so I've seen this a few times) but I much prefer the 8 minute version. I feel some of the context is lost (you often take desert to your brother so need a tray that can take x ramekins plus cream). For viewing experience I think this is important, for me anyway.

    I wish i had a little workshop and just redo some of your projects. The locking mechanism is sooo cool! Easy and reliable.

    • @bekanav
      @bekanav 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really thought that locking mechanism was good? It took some space and that thin lever can catch somewhere and break.
      Usually those kind of things are done with some kind of spring loaded ball or stud and a hole in moving part. Much easier, more reliable, less visible, easier to make... If you want to use leaf spring (even wooden one) it goes inside of the box holding stud or ball in its place. Spring can be recessed in side wall if needed so
