I was lucky enough to visit last May again after 20 years for a work conference. Sucked it in, including LOVE. I'm glad I did. Was amazing to see Mirage running full steam one last time. Awesome video
What a fantastic hotel. If I had to pick one hotel NOT to go away is Las Vegas the Mirage would certainly be it. I remember sneaking in to the pool area a couple years after it opened. I couldn't afford to stay there at the time but I had to see it. I thought to myself that day that I was at the greatest place on earth. I think I was right.
I’m so very sad. Have lots of memories from the Mirage. Walking in the front doors and smelling that wonderful tropical smell, front desk with the beautiful fish tanks behind the counters, the friendly, helpful employees, white tigers in person, Siegfried and Roy show, celebrities in the casino, the volcano, the I Dream of Jeannie slot machines. Stayed at the Mirage ever since it opened, and my last visit, unfortunately, was August of 2022. Great memories and I’m truly gonna miss it. ❤😢
@readJames48 Yes! Siegfried & Roy!! We fortunate to see them in the early 90s. We were in the first row and I kept wanting to pet them. lol I’m not afraid of any animals. They always roll over to let me pet their stomachs then kiss me all over, no matter how “dangerous” they’re deemed. Jeff always calls me “The Animal Whisperer”. lol
Great video! The Mirage was my ultimate favorite place in Las Vegas. The best curb appeal from the strip the set up the atmosphere. The ambience was just perfect terrific bars and restaurants. The staff was always so friendly. The place was always immaculate. Such great memories here I can’t believe It’s happening and that the Luxor and Excalibur have outlast it the Mirage
What would we do without you Jeff? Great video. I don't know why this closing is hitting me harder than the Trop (even though that closing is so sad too). I think it is the location. Going into the Mirage happened more frequently for me than going all the way down to the Trop. This video made me cry. I don't like what is happening to Vegas. And it is happening so fast it is like a steam roll. Places closing, shows closing, too many malls, greedy corporations who do not appreciate what old Vegas means to many, many people and more. Vegas is history, Vegas is a reminder of those who lived before. It was glamour and lights and shows and comps so people could afford to go. It is just sad that history doesn't mean anything to the wallets running the city now. Thank you so much for making sure the Tropicana and the Mirage were chronicled and will live on, at least on the internet. I know it took a lot of your time and I truly appreciate it. What a great surprise they did a final volcano show! That took me out 😭
I’ve stayed at the Mirage many times, saw all the shows and brought my children many times. My children are now 40 and 41. I’ve been to almost every hotel in Vegas, stayed often and now I am retired. I visit from CA at least once/ month to gamble and enjoy the food and drinks. I don’t think there was ever a show I have not seen. I will miss the Mirage, but I will be at the opening day of the Hard Rock if I live that long. My children and grand children have offered to get me a scooter if for any reason I can’t walk by then. Coming to Vegas again in a few days. As a cancer survivor I don’t take any day for granted. Thank you Mirage for the memories. It felt good writing this.
I was lucky enough to see Siegfried & Roy a few months prior to their last show. We bought last minute tickets and got to sit in the pit. Had Tigers, and an elephant walk on the stage literally what felt like inches from us. If anyone saw the show they know how the stage was configured. I'm so glad we decided to go, since a few months after at the show, the horrible accident happened and that ended the run of the show. The volcano was always a must on any of our visits, and always recommended it to people visiting for the first time. I will miss it for sure! 😢
Thanks for being there and sharing with us. This brought some tears. Never stayed at the Mirage but did visit the tigers and dolphins. Saw Dolly Parton perform too. It was a beautiful hotel.
Another great post! The Mirage was always a must stop on my Vegas stays, I always had to have a drink at the Rhumbar patio and in they had a really good buffet!
Such a sad day! Pretty much my favorite hotel. I remember the last time I was there in 2017. Always so relaxing and unique and refreshing! Thanks for sharing!
Awesome video jeff, stil cant believe this place has come to an end but im glad i got to see it on my visit, all good things come to an end, had some amazing memories when i went there
My mother and I first came to the Mirage in 1989. What an amazing place! I have stayed-there more times than I can remember. One time I was on the casino and run into Steve Wynn, he was walking the floor saying hello to the players. The next day We saw him again at the pool! There were😊 times you could not get out on the main entrance because it was so crowded, with people going in and out and seeing the White Tigers.😊
End of an ERA, .. Glad we seen the Beatles Love before it Closed.... Mr Steve Wynn Certainly Knows how to build Mega Resorts... They're Breathtaking .... Hope you and Kristina are well... Kp up the gd work Sir....
@betsyavalllone4314 I forgot to mention they did say a few things about Steve, but ultimately, he’s not allowed on the property because of all the sexual harassment allegations from multiple employees. Plus, he hasn’t owned the hotel since MGM purchased it in 2000 and stepped down as Chairman.
Oh I did hear after I saw your video, that Elaine did speak at the ceremony. I was glad to hear that. I do understand about Steve. It seems nothing is forever in Vegas!
Ultimately, he’s not allowed on the property because of all the sexual harassment allegations from multiple employees. Plus, he hasn’t owned the hotel since MGM purchased it in 2000 and stepped down as Chairman.
Totally agree @thomaskung4871. But, MGM, who owned the Mirage, was purchased by HRH. Mirage really had no say in it. It was all up to MGM. Treasure Island & Circus Circus are solely owned by Phil Ruffin - and he’ll never budge. MGM Mirage sold TI to him in 2009.
@@diannebetzel4836 It really is. Strangely enough, for Circus Circus being like that, they have one of the “best rated steak houses”. Makes no sense to me. lol
Hi @vivelavida8317 Hotels always have auctions on the all the items in the hotel. I believe they will start this one in September. It always starts with auctioning them off through an auction houseto businesses and other hotels. Then it becomes public after that. 😊

They really should have included Steve & Elaine Wynn in there tribute. If It weren’t for them, there would not be a Mirage.

Hard Rock should sell the Mirage. A new owner should buy it.
