PLEASE, as someone whose had animals over 40 years, FOSTER if you want the companionship of an animal without a LONG commitment.
    I've had Dog since I was 19 and I'm now 45.
    It is no joke.
It is a lot of money with the vet bills, it is money spent on food and treats and beds and bowls and not being able to do certain things because you can't bring your animal with you and don't want to leave them with a stranger.
My husband and I have made huge amounts of sacrifice in our marriage including not being able to travel as we would both like to or even go camping because of having the commitment of our dog (she came from a rough background and doesn't do well with other dogs)
After she crosses the rainbow bridge I will only foster.
Please do not take adoption lightly.
These animals are completely at the mercy of those around them.
Think about if it was you.
How would you feel if someone adopted you only to give you up when they realize that you're not a toy and that you actually take time, energy, commitment, and money?
Fostering is a great alternative to adoption for those not ready or willing to make such a long and serious commitment.
    Fostering saves lives.
The dog I've now had for over a decade was supposed to be a foster dog, but fell in love with her and long story short she is the light of my life.
But like I said it is a lot of work and I won't sugarcoat that.
It's really unfair for an animal whose already been through so much to then be abandoned when they finally think they find their forever home.
If you're not going to take your animal with you when you have to move or someone gets pregnant or whatever the case, better to foster.
This still allows that love and companionship without the LONG TERM COMMITMENT.
PLEASE, animals need our love AND for us to be RESPONSIBLE.
