    I would bed them in MMM 4200 and replace them on the cabin. Handy to tie things to for on deck stowage.

    Totally agree with leaving the handrails off!
    Just one more thing to step/crawl over when going forward.
    Foot space is definitely at a premium on a smaller boat.

    I put screw-in nuts in the base of my handrail, use butyl sealant tape around the outer edge and tighten from the inside with stainless steel bolts. No leaks and they can be removed if needed.

    The rails have a use, they will keep you on the boat in certain seas. They did not appear to be bedded. That is why they leaked. They were attatched in a way too that is deemed unsafe by most.

    I used dillute wood glue and wicked it up into the handrail gaps....after several times and if done after a rain the glue would wick its way up and now several years later the hand rails are still tight.
