thx a lot for the video , it is great. i got a question that i have got the same configuration you have with NAMUR normally closed , and i would like to send a normally open logic signal to plc when target is detected , could you please share with me the way of doing this. many thx
Hello @hightechplatform1874, first you need to select the correct intrinsic safety barrier for your application. This would fall under our “Switch Amplifiers” on our website. We have many models to choose from. One deciding factor is the switching frequency. For switching applications with a frequency of 10 Hz or less, you can use a switch amplifier with a relay output. The most common is the KCD2-SR-EX1 for one channel or the KCD2-SR-EX2 for two channels. For switching applications with more than 10 Hz, you should choose a barrier with a transistor output. The most common would be the KCD2-SOT-EX1 for one channel or the KCD2-SOT-EX2 for two channels. All of the above models have DIP switches on the front panel of the barrier that allow the user to select an output mode based on the NAMUR input state. There is also a yellow status LED that illuminates when the output is in an “on” state. This provides a visual indication when the output is “on” based on the position of the DIP switches. For more information, please refer to the datasheet which can be downloaded from files.pepperl-fuchs.com/webcat/navi/productInfo/pds/70109406_eng.pdf?v=20240919144052. We hope this has answered your question.

Hi - i require a galvanic barrier for a 24a DC fire alarm detection circuit AND a 24v DC Fire Alarm sounder circuit that uses reverse voltage monitoring. Is there a barrier for these types of uses?

Hi Raviteja, This is a 2-channel isolated barrier that can power a field transmitter, or accept a 4 ... 20 mA current source from the field, and pass that signal to the control side of the barrier. The datasheet can be found here: www.pepperl-fuchs.com/usa/en/classid_7.htm?view=productdetails&prodid=63975 If you need further assistance, please contact our Ask an Expert by clicking here: www.pepperl-fuchs.com/usa/en/ask_an_expert_pa.htm
Please explain about the KFD2-SOT2-Ex1.LB , how switching voltage is consumed by isolator ( 2vdc to low voltage pulses) while the input proximity is under continuous pulse sensing...
Hello Nallendran, the KFD2-SOT2-Ex1.LB switch amplifier provides a constant excitation voltage of 8 VDC to power the NAMUR proximity switch. The NAMUR proximity switch varies the current in the loop to indicate position. The switch amplifier monitors the current in the loop to determine its output status. Please visit us at www.pepperl-fuchs.com/usa/en/ask_an_expert_fa.htm should you need further assistance. Thank you.
Hi Syed, All of our Switch Amplifiers can accept a NAMUR sensor or dry contact input. Our most common Switch Amplifier is our KFD2-SR2-EX*. It comes as either a single or dual channel model. And it accepts both NAMUR sensors and dry contact inputs. This type of barrier is part of our K-System portfolio, which are galvanic isolators. However we have a second line of I.S. barriers, our Z-system. These are not galvanic isolators, they are Zener barriers. These are passive devices, but still meet the I.S. requirements for connecting a NAMUR sensor or dry contact. Zener barriers do require a dedicated I.S. ground per NEC sec. 504. Out most common for these are our Z728 (single channel) and Z787 (dual channel).
Hi there Solo Ado, please download the Manual Surge Protection Barriers (SPB Handbook) by clicking the link www.pepperl-fuchs.com/usa/en/classid_383.htm?view=productdetails&prodid=219#documents. On page 46, section 9.5 you will find information on the installation of the KLB 2.30 on a DIN rail. If you need further assistance please contact our Ask An Expert www.pepperl-fuchs.com/usa/en/ask_an_expert_pa.htm. Thank you.
