I might just have to pick up La Poison! I’ve heard great things about it and you sold me on it today. Also I didn’t realize I wasn’t following you back on Letterboxd, I changed that!!
It’s such a quirky and funny story. Also it just might be my favorite cover art in the Criterion Collection. Thanks for checking out this video and for the follow on Letterboxd!
Thank you for the recommendations! I was planning to sit out this sale to save a few bucks. But after hearing you talk about Godzilla, I may have to pick that one up. I think you will love The Killing and also the co-feature, Killer's Kiss. My last Criterion purchase was Peeping Tom (1960), which I picked up during a recent 30% off sale. Highly recommended!
I’ve heard so many people talking so highly about The Killing, I need to check it out. I didn’t realize there was a second feature with The Killing. I love it when Criterion does that as a special feature. Thanks so much for watching and for the recommendation!
Bottle Rocket has been on my list for awhile. May need to get it this sale. Love that Godzilla packaging. You sold me on La Poison. Thanks for the recs!
Hey Jon. Great recommendations for the July Criterion sale. I'm with you on, Pinocchio. It's such a gorgeous transfer and I loved his vision for the story. Definitely high on my recommendations as well. Love Godzilla. That was one of my first Criterion Blu-ray pick-ups when I got back into collecting. LaPoison is so good and definitely deserves more love. I have to get the Criterion of Cat People. I have an older Blu-ray (I think) but I need to upgrade. Bottle Rocket has a gorgeous transfer and I was so shocked that I was watching a Blu-ray. Classic Wes Anderson. I highly recommend you try to grab La Haine. It's such an important look at how people on the fringes survive in turmoil. So solid. The Killing is another good one as is Forty Guns. I haven't seen Nothing But A Man or Perfect Days so I'll have to check into those. Awesome video, as always and I hope you get all the titles on your wish list. PS I think your Criterion Closet is genius. 😊
I think La Haine is going to be at the top of my wishlist for this sale. I almost grabbed it in the last sale, but I ended up grabbing some other titles instead. The trailer looks fascinating and I’ve only heard people speak very highly of it. I love my little Criterion closet. Ha ha! It’s only got room left in it for about 2 or 3 titles so I’m going to have to get creative after my pick ups from this sale. Thanks so much for checking out this video Stephanie!
Jon, I like that you say, "friends," to those watching :) I didn't like Bottle Rocket much the first time I watched it but a handful of years ago I watch it again and it shot up from the bottom of my list of Wes Anderson ranked. It's still maybe 4 or 5 but no longer the last. La Poison is pronounced pretty close to what you're saying. I would make sure your "la" does sound like lah not luh, and the s in poison does sound like a z. If it sounded more like an s that would be poisson, meaning fish. I'll also add that La Haine is pronounced "la ehn." Like saying the letter n with a little more air to it in the beginning. But I rarely hear anyone pronounce it correctly. I'm at least getting Dogfight, Bound, and To Die For. But there are some Kino titles I want so idk if I'll get much more than that for Criterions.
I had no confidence I was pronouncing anything right. Ha ha! I’ll have to look into the titles you mentioned. There are a handful of Kino titles I’m looking to pick up also. I love these sales but I wish they wouldn’t be at the same time for my wallets sake. Thanks so much for checking out this video, I appreciate it!
Big fan of Bottle Rocket here as well, probably in the top 3. I think my big issue and why it's not #1 is that motel scene in the middle of the film that I found painfully boring. La Haine is a great film, definitely a good choice if you ask me.
Yeah I think I’m going to put La Haine at the top of my list for this sale. I’ve only heard people say great things about that film. Bottle Rocket is so much fun! Thanks so much for checking out this video, I really appreciate it!
The Killing is available on 4K through Kino Lorber.
These sales are always fun ones!

Breaking news: Just came back from Barnes & Noble with the Blu-ray of Godzilla. Talk about impulse buying! See how persuasive you are?
@@grey1951- Ha ha ha! That’s hilarious! I hope you enjoy the film.

Great video Jon 👍🏻 you know no one’s ever made a video of the worst criterion not to buy .
I saw Mega Mike just did a video about Criterion’s he regretted purchasing. I definitely have a few I bought and then sold after watching.

I would love animation of the movie
The Criterion collection has a few animated films, but Pinocchio is incredible!
Good list
