Mount Willis: Hidden Gem of the Canadian Rockies

Mount Willis is the tallest point in the White Goat Wilderness of the Canadian Rockies. This wilderness area is located just outside Banff National Park. With no marked trails and steep scrambling, this multi-day trip definitely came with challenges but was well worth it! Lots of wildfire smoke during this portion of our trip, but the White Goat Wilderness is still one of my new favorite places to backpack.
The final approach gains about 3000 feet of altitude over about 2 miles. This wouldn’t be awful on solid terrain, but on loose rock this was quite a challenging scramble! Just a forewarning if you go for it!

I’m so happy you posted a video of yours Matthew to watch to keep me from thinking about the fact I’m sick with a no fun sinus infection at the moment. great video and I hope you had a great trip to Canada.
