Seymour Duncan himself greets PG’s crew and begins the tour by talking about his early days in the pickup business. He started re-winding pickups for David Schecter, then jumped into the big time via a large order from Japan-doing all his company’s early flatwork by hand. He also recounts meeting and being helped by Bill Carson, a co-designer of Leo Fender’s classic early instruments, including the Stratocaster, and gleaning tips from the legendary pickup designer Seth Lover. Plus, he recounts his time with Jeff Beck, George Fullerton, Ted McCarty, and other heroes of guitar.

Seymour is a great human and so full of history. Right up the coast from me in Ventura and has provided pickups for all of my guitars! Love them and him
Seymour is incredible. He has done so much over the years. For pro musicians and new musicians alike.
I love that this video releases the morning I ordered my set of Seymour Duncan Frampton Comes Alive humbucker set! ♥️
I love this videos they make us respect and love this wonderful creators even more! Thanks Mr Seymour 👏👏👏👏👏
It's great to see that he is still so excited about what he does. And so full of energy. I would love to sit and talk with him.
Great video. Thanks Seimour Duncan and thanks Premier Guitar
It’s funny how all boutique makers rave about their hand wound humbuckers yet Duncan is saying they have to be machine wound!
I mean it makes sense, if you want to cancel a hum you're not going to get a more precise opposite wind by hand!
the difference between a backed-by-science approach vs a fundamentalist traditional approach
Fascinating episode.
Wow, this man is history himself!
Lol when he said Bridgeton, Nj I was like yo he is from my hometown respect that man his pickups are in all my guitars
🙇thank you !!!!
That first photo of Seymour and Cathy, Seymour looks like he could be in Molly Hatchet or the Allman Brothers Band.
Awesome folks. My only beef is the giant logo on their stuff now.
He reminds me of Willie Nelson…just kidding he’s a living icon …wow mr Duncan has been around for awhile like myself..68…I have a strat with some of the first ssl1 ssl 5 ..pickups from 1980…crazy where the time went..Dimarzio and Duncan were kinda the 1st guys doing this ….back in 70’s…
A living legend !!! Mr S you are unique !!! MJ love you 😍 the only Queen of tone !
Why queen ?
@@gnpajeff1 cause she maid the pick ups for most of the most influential musicians and help them find that tone that are in their heads !
The JB is the greatest pick up ever. Just orders the JB jr for my strat
Most of my guitars have Seymour Duncan pickups.
He stripped my duo sonic when he was working at the Vineland Music Center and put junk on it. Then left. Thanks Wayne.
Does any hand winding currently go on at SD (no mention of it)?
Unlikely.
He reminds me a lot of Daniel Johnston
Gene Simmons: It never dawned on me that someone could make a living winding pickups.
Me: I never thought a rock n' roll band would be in the coffin selling buisness while still making music.
LOL!
@@DMSProduktions His quote was about Kiss's longtime friendship with Larry DiMarzio. As usual Gene found a way to insult somweone before turning it around into a compliment. On the Kiss/Seymour Duncan front, Paul Stanley has used the 59' set and the 59'/Custom sh-5 to name two.
@@roymartin500
Cool!
They knew Larry DM thru Ace, as they were school mates in the 60s.
@@DMSProduktions Yeah! Small world eh!
@@roymartin500 Sure IS Coily! AWK!
❤His stories!!!
Does Seymour still have Jeff Beck’s Fender Esquire? The one Jeff swapped for Seymour’s Tele-Gib?
I think it’s at a museum now
I feel like an idiot just now realizing Seymour Duncan is an actual person...
When I was a kid I thought Les Paul was french and pronounced _"Lay Paul"_
