I think a person weight play an important role in the cushion and bounce of midsole, reviewers should state their weight so viewers can make a guesstimate on how the shoes will perform for them individually.
How fast they run makes a difference too. I'm 82kg and I when run faster than 7min/km pace the triumph really feels softer and bouncier than when I just plod along
@@tkwasik get the asics glideride 3. I’m 87kg and they are perfect for the heavier runner. Agree about the heavier runner shoe reviews… a real shame and a possible gap in the TH-cam review ‘’market”. Prob too niche as you say
Good point. Running form and style and surface also can make a major difference. I am heavier than most runners and totally agree shoes that work for lighter runners don’t always work for me …
I am a larger runner (105kg) and the triumph 20 is phenomenal! Bouncy yet supportive cushion and beats my previous favorite, the asics glideride-3. The more v4 is way too soft, for my weight, and feels clunky (much more so than hoka clifton/bondi).
Loving my More V 4s Long Zone 2 runs are great in the shoe, 20 miles recently done without typical ankle fatigue, and actually I feel I can step up and add goal marathon paced runs into the mix with it, albeit this is slower than most at 8:45 to 9 min mile, I was looking to replace my speed 2s but don’t think I will bother now. Yes the shoe felt a bit bulky to start with, but I don’t really notice it now after my 40 miles in the shoe. Great recommendation Tom.
Triumph 20 is the best runner over ever owned. Incredible at everything from threshold to easy runs and my long runs. The only down side for me is I find the shoe makes me want to run a little faster so when I do my slower runs they often turn into a steady run instead. So I tend to save it for my longer runs or tempo days.
100% agree! I've run 5km, 10km, and 15km PBs in the Triumph 20 - it just gives me so much confidence. Every time I take it out I end up running more than I intended, faster than I intended. Fresh foam X in my experience has been great for the first 100km then just died and been relegated to supermarket shoes
@@BenCarmichaelI take this con as a pro, as someone who doesn’t like running and gets comfortable (lazy) easily, it is great to be motivated by wearing a certain type of shoe that makes me wanna run in it..
Triumph 20 is my shoe of the year. You can do any type of workout in it and it works well as a gym shoe or everyday shoe as well. The more v4 I had go return as it was too soft and I seemed to do a wheelie when I walked around as the new heel split design didn't work well for me.
Very ironic that you do this review on maximum cushioning shoes when I’m planning to run a 10k next weekend in my Altra Escalante Racers! Don’t love cushioning shoes but understand that many folks do. My wife loves the Triumph 20s , I prefer zero drop thin soles.
I am looking to get back into running, after years and years. I have unfortunately put on a lot of whaight in those years and need the cushioning and support. The saucony Triumph is on my list, but i have always been a fan of Brooks glycerin gts. ( Hydroflow ). I have owned New Balance and Saucony in the past. All good comfy shoes.
Interesting video. I am 300plus miles into my 2nd Triumph 19. Definitely a solid versatile trainer daily, marathon training long runs and intervals. Decisions decisions to get the 20 next time 😊🤔
Now the 21 and the rfg is out, did you end up picking up a 20? I’m currently thinking about it as the 21 is still $150-ish and the 20 is down to $65-$70 on deals and only the upper was slightly updated, I don’t think it warrants double the price
Yes I’ve since had two pairs on Triumph 20’s! They’re my go to daily & long run trainer. I wouldn’t pay for 21’s just yet personally if you can get 20’s
Are there any breathability issues with either shoe's upper during long runs? Which would be better suited for slow-paced (over 6 min/km) aerobic runs?
If you weigh more than 85 kilos, and especially if you are a heel striker, the v4 are not good for you. Perhaps changing the running, attacking midfoot, it can go quite well, but the heel after a few kilometers completely widens and I do not know if the shoe, can become a drop - 0. After a fast walk of 11 kilómeters much pain in the heels. The shoes will have only 20 kilometers. The white rubber under the sole, already is spoiling, and the black part already has important signs of wear.I am very sorry for these shoes, I really liked them. Now I do not know if I can use them with confidence not to do harm to my feet. Sorry for my English.
I just ordered a pair ,got them for 95$ because i have a rewards program with my local running shoe store. Unfortunately they didnt have my size in stock so i have to wait 3 business days , im looking forward to trying out the new model because the 19 felt sooo good for a couple hundred miles then they went to crap quickly 😂 im good with that
Hi, the triumph 20 can be comparable to the tempus? I would like to understand the main differences, besides the drop and the weight (not so much), is there a difference in softness, stability, the ride itself? thanks
I just bought the NBMV4, I haven't ran in them yet. I have a pair of Triumph 20, but I hated every step in them. I have taking them out of my running shoes and I now use them for walks. To be fair to them, I only ran in them once. But once was enough, but maybe I needed to break them in and they might soften up? Honestly though, I hated them.
Would you recommend the More V4 as a daily / easy trainer if you have something like the Endorphin Speed 2/3 to use for tempo days? Or would you recommend having the More purely as an easy day shoe and using it with a more traditional daily trainer and a tempo shoe as well…?
I don’t know if it’s because most of my shoes have super foams in or soft foams like blast plus but the triumph feels firm to me almost like the Nike next nature turbo I know I’m in the complete minority there tho maybe I should try running in less super foams or super soft foams I managed to get a pair of the original pegasus turbos the other day . Had to buy them seeing how much you guys loved them 😂 also a lot of other people always say how good they where so can’t wait to try them
You're not the only one: the 20 to me feels cushioned in the sense it insulates me from the ground, but at slower paces it's not especially soft. Only at higher speeds does it seem to begin to give in and offer some softness. But here's the weird thing: I got a pretty much new pair of Triumph 17s at an Op Shop for the equivalent of US$ 15: was planning to use them as beaters, but they are actually softer at slower paces than the 20s, or the 19s! For me they just work well - newer is not always better for everyone!😃😃
Youre not the only one. So far I don’t think the 20 should be in max cushion category. Certainly can’t be compared to Nike Invincible. Probably I’ll have to try the 20 in faster pace to see if it’s any softer
I’m a big fan of the 20, but it is too firm at times (not great on tired legs). That said does Saucony even make true a soft midsole shoe? Even the Shift 3 (great long run shoe too) is a max shoe on the firmer side. I like that at times, but if I want soft I go with shoes from Asics or New Balance at this time.
@@karmaforgotme i think the endorphie pro 3 feels soft and bouncy. And the endorphin Speed series doesn’t feel too firm either. I just think pwrun pb is nice foam and powerrun plus doesn’t work for me Maybe I’m not fast enough on my easy runs to compress the foam or something

You’d be surprised how good the triumph is for tempo/threshold. I tried to ignore how much I like faster runs in it for awhile but in the end I just caved. Now I use it for everything from long runs to tempo and sometimes threshold.
Triumph 20 as an all round daily trainer from 30km long runs to even threshold runs, is quite possibly the best shoe you can buy on the current market.
@@nguyenduyhung1000 i bought a V3 to try. I think shoes that are too soft or sinky do not work for me. Though felt really good on foot, but other parts of my body such as knees, calves, and lower back are compensating. So I think i’ll go with the Triumph as soon as get to sell the V3.
