Become aware of the tenths of seconds, not just the seconds.
The more conscious and aware you become of time and your surrounding, the less you will suffer emotionally.
If you can imagine doing something within a certain amount of time, you will almost certainly accomplish it.

Cause past and future is just a concept in the mind and always experienced only in the mind, in the present moment.

How do we reconcile the benefits of being uncomfortable about the future? It is this that forced our species to grow and innovate life saving protocols and also devise new forms of fun and leisure. Do we try to make an effort to spend 50% of our time living in the present? I agree 100% of what you're saying by the way. I suspect it'd be a bit like being on vacation forever...which would get awfully boring. Humans are meant to be productive and our bodies know this. Thank you for your channel! I am here after your amazing appearance on the broken brain podcast. It was enlightening, to say the least.

You raise a good point, but it is not actually the case. Becoming more aware of the presence of time does not diminish the survival instinct and the need to progress. If anything, it opens it up.

I would love to explore why people constantly go back and forth to the same partner even when it's a toxic and dysfunctional relationship. I'm going through this right now (again 🤦‍♀️) and trying to understand myself better. Your videos really help but I'm not quite there yet.

    • @Teasehirt
      @Teasehirt 3 ปีที่แล้ว

We prefer the known to the unknown. Our habits, that's our thinking habits, are primed to fire. Creating new habits (like finding a new partner) takes time and work. We also get a small hit of reward when our habits are fired.
      I hope this helps.

I feel you on this one as I've been going through it myself. It's like you know all was wrong in the relationship but yet you find yourself momentarily forgetting the bad parts and wanting to go back. Have you heard of the concept of a "trauma bond?" It's just like the above person commented. When the other partner was toxic it kept us in a low state. Then they would do something sweet or kind and this would create a small dopamine rush. If this happens over and over it creates an addiction to the person doing this. It's a common abuse tactic used by those who have narcissist or borderline personality disorder. The people susceptible to this usually have their own issues with codependency. There's a ton of great resources online to aid in your growth. Wishing you the best!

The day you became and aware and wanted to understand yourself better was the biggest step towards breaking free from this unwanted behaviour. I hope all is well, Chimp Paradox is a good book to help understand why you do what you do and how to change those unwanted things you do. Best wishes 👍🏻

Hi Peter, isn't this what Ekart Tolle first promoted decades ago, with his concept in The Power of Now? He was obviously developing his ideas based on some Buddhism he was practicing.
So my question is are you actually saying the same thing or something new? I understand his concept and think its easy and amazing.
Or have you never heard of Ekhart Tolle, even tho he's been in the personal development world for ages and is endorsed by Oprah?
I'm glad you quote Rumi sometimes and acknowledge your source, rather than pretend you wrote his poetry.
If you are saying the same as Ekhart Tolle, maybe let your audience know, so they can go further faster.
    Keep up the great work

What about consequences, how to relate to them ? Are they in the future and we can consider from the present moment and decide which future we want?

Have loved all the interviews I have seen (you on other peoples podcasts). So really excited to sign up for “Free Your Mind”. However I think your tech side could use some help.😅. I clicked the link “free your mind is available for limited time”.... and after clicking the “learn more” I get a message that the course is closed..... ???? So I clicked the Waitlist, and get taken back to main page showing “free your mind is available for a limited time”. Definitely some time warp here. I feel I am going from some future and back to the past.... all on one website., while doing my best to stay present 😂😂😂. I will check back later, and look forward to having a different experience. ( yep words deliberately selected - British sense of humour)
