One thing that got left out of Will's character in the books is what he does when he speaks to people. He picks up their own syntax, and has trouble getting rid of it in his own speech.
If you listen closely during the scene where he plans to kill Hannibal but is shot by Jack, you can clearly notice his accent when he says, "I see you now". It even sounds a little Irish to me.
Every time I hear Hugh speak as himself I'm like, "When did Will turn British!" Duh! I know, but it's wonderful how real he makes Will, that I can still be surprised because I totally buy his version of Will Graham.
I love how all the characters have such a light attitude about everything. If you are too serious in your profession you may just get sucked into the horror and the tragedy.
Native English speakers usually pronounce Mads as MaDs with the D, and I’ve never heard Mads correct them so I assume he doesn’t mind it. They’ve been friends for a while before this show so we can guess that Mads hasn’t corrected Hugh either so he’s probably alright with the MaDs (as opposed to Mas) pronunciation and doesn’t consider it wrong, just another way to speak his name. Also I have no idea if you’re still interested in this topic seeing as this comment was from five years ago XD but there’s my thoughts
