    Good tip about placing the posts on a slight 10 or 20 degree angle. Thanks!

    I want to install an all weather shade alongside my car port, but don't want that big that comes from the arc between the attachment points. On the side that runs along the carport, could I put another attachment point in the middle to keep it more flush with the carport, or will this damage the shade sail?

      Thank you for your query. From what we can ascertain you are wanting to add an additional attachment point half way along the length of a rectangular shade sail. If this is the case you will be modifying the design which will void the warranty of the product. It is quite possible that this adjustment will serve the purpose for what you are trying to achieve (providing you can achieve a quality modification) but there is a risk that you could reduce the durability of the sail.

    Great video, would just add depth of post given some might not go >3ft depth for appropriate height support

    What did you use for posts, where did you get them, and what did they cost?

      Hi magic1554,
      Thanks for getting in touch! As our shade sails are designed to suit a variety of DIY situations and spaces the poles used will most likely vary in size, material and cost. We would recommend using galvanised steel posts - these are generally available in 89x89mm x 3.5mm/gauge which are suitable for use. If you're located in Melbourne you could check out Steel Solutions Melbourne. Their posts are around $24 + a small cutting fee if needed.
      We hope this helps, and best of luck on your DIY journey.

      Hi Jason. As shade sail post lengths are a minimum of around 3m (and not commonly sold through general hardware) we recommend contacting a local steel or timber merchant to source the required post material.

    can a brick wall (with pad eye) support the lateral load from the shade sail under tension and wind load? or will an alternative mounting point be needed to avoid structural damage to brick wall?

    • @GalePacificPtyLtdBraeside
      @GalePacificPtyLtdBraeside  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A structurally sound brick wall will provide a suitable mounting position for the shade sail, using a pad eye. Ensure you periodically check that the fasteners are tightened as constant sail movement can cause fasteners to loosen over time.

      Short answer . Not always and it’s a bit irresponsible to be telling people to fix sails of this size to a brick wall .

      @@GalePacificPtyLtdBraeside thanks for the clear instructions. I have brick veneer. Can it be qualified as structurally sound to withstand certain amount horizontal force? Or should i pull down the shade sail when there is strong wind?

      @@ianzk1veneer can get easily be pulled out, so it highly depends on the substrate material. Your anchor will be set there. So what’s behind veneer?
