I have an 88 Venture like this, with a little carb work (clean and soak them overnight) it will run like a rabid dog. But they are top heavy and if you get it over center by the slightest amount over it goes - and "The Rock " could not keep it from going to ground..... Other than that its a great bike...

I k ow it’s a late reply. But I also agree with you. I dropped the perfect bike when loading as the underside caught and sent me and the bike over. Some damage as a caught it but that’s when I learned the hard lesson you spoke of. 😱

I agree honestly. I may remove it later this year and see how I feel. It’s going to get new tires and the starter hopefully fixed. She needs some love.

Your engine will run cooler without those vents

I totally removed them. It looks way better. Now to fix my electrical issues this winter so she will run again.

I ran it and the same day the starter died. I found no fuel going into the carbs. So the vacuum petcock is likely broken. 😅 it’s been sitting ever since. I may take your advice once runny to clean it up. Remove all the crap.

I completely agree but hey if I could afford a new bike 🏍 I would have something new and awesome but I’m poor so I need to fix up old junk so I have something that might eventually be nice 👍🏼 for now it’s a giant paperweight LoL 😂

@@803GarageI have the identical bike fully restored and repaired and repainted. Best paint available and buffed float glass dmooth.
it is a work of art, brilliant design. Fast, comfy, well designed. they are unique in appearance, an eye catcher. Paper weight? Not a chance.

Junk? if he parts the bike out, I see 3000 in parts alone with no problem.

@803Garage Hey, those bikes are diamonds in the rough. when restored, painted, and tuned, they are high class , sport, fast touring machines, a delight to ride. It took me 2 months for complete restoration, paint, fine tuning, and looks like artwork. A joy to ride. total cost was 1500, including Endura paint and 4 clear costs, buffing, battery, some parts, and lots of time. I'd put this over a gold wing. Anyway, any day.

@@whdbnrm3023 If you can sell the parts. time is not worth it.
