"I'm not good at concerts, if it's terrible I want to leave, and if it's brilliant I want to play" love that quote.

i am in the exact same position, its no fun basically. but allot of people try to increase prestige novadays pretending to be behind it still(musicians) as if nothing has happened. And its also misunderstood as an ego thing its not, its a "sensitivity didnt tell me about the after effects of exsessive writing and listening of music" thing.. I absolutely prefer playing over listening, more and more.

BB, you are my all time favorite drummer. Saw you with YES, KC (met you back stage there in SF), and one of my all time favorite shows ever, BRUFORD in Berkely CA. The opening act "Surface Music" was absolutely hilarious.

I can just see Danny Carrey when he goes to play with Tool or Volto, and is like, "Hey guys! This is the Bill Bruford kit!!" 💩🥁

I can just see and have seen Danny Carrey being an obnoxious drunk too many times at an LA jazz club. Unacceptable and disgusting behavior. 🖕🏼

But at the very least he's an incredible drummer. Definitely the best of the modern times

This video confirms it for me, Bill Bruford, class act, class human being

I bought Bill's smallest brass square. He signed it; Bill is a class act.
It sounds just like the "ding" in Fracture, but there's no way to verify that.

So nice to learn that someone so admired for years is a such decent person. Especially in this business...

Agreed Bill, Gavin Harrison one of the best, most interesting drummers of the day. And to get that compliment from Mr Bruford, wow…..

For me those 2 have done a tremendous job of developing a unique style, but also one of musicality that most drummers do not achieve

I remember reading an article about Bill integrating chordal structures of the Simmons with acoustic drumming rhythms. And the interviewer actually brought this up to Max Roach and Max's statement was, 'There's alot of drummers that are doing great things. But that Bruford, he's an innovator.' Well said.

Just can't say how much I love Bill, excuse me Mr. Bruford. Reading endless mag's makes one feel him a friend, even a friendly family member. Needless to say he has been a fantastic influence on me and my expansion of equipment, especially midi gear. Thanks bill I wish I could afford your gear!!!! Thanks for all the education, you made me a better drummer.

Many years ago, I sold my canary yellow Yamaha 9000 and cymbals to Graham. It hurt to let it go but the cash really helped me out at the time. If I was to buy another kit I'd definitely go to Graham. The setup he has is amazing.

I'm amazed to see the Tama Bell Brass there. That's the one. The holy grail of rock snare drums. Wanted by many, usually just able to be rented by a few.

Mr Bruford always comes across as a very modest person, intellectual about music. Reminds me somewhat of David Byrne in that respect. Had a listen to the Genesis the two mention in the video here. Really something. Tremendous energy, creativity. What do we have now? Coldplay dear me.

King Crimson now reminds me of Fleetwood Mac after they got rid of Lindsey Buckingham, they needed two guitarists to replace him. King Crimson now has 3 drummers to replace Bill Bruford.

      Nobody replaced Bill.
      Nobody can replace Pat.
      Nobody can replace Gavin.
      Nobody can replace Bill (RIP).
      Nobody can replace Jeremy.
Absolutely nobody ever replaced Michael Giles.

Wow, great show. There are three drummers I’ve been a huge fan of since I started listening to music properly over 40 years ago. Neal
Peart, Mike Portnoy and Bill. This was just so enjoyable and informative.

I know nothing about drumming, but I do know that when I first heard 'Fragile', I sat up and went, 'Those drums... No-one plays like that!'

I have a question for drummers, how much does just the colour of the drums mean when picking a kit or components? I met somebody who was car shopping and they said they ONLY cared about the colour. I'm assuming you can paint them, I can't decide if I like those yellow ones or not. Zildjan came from the US, but Sabian would have been a little cheaper coming from right near here in New Brunswick Canada.

A guy I know secured a signed Paiste swish cymbal from this sale. He's still not revealed how much he bid but I get the impression it was worth every penny. He has played on it twice, maybe....

I actually went to a Bruford/Simmons workshop-- the kit sounded Awful,,, Awful. So yeah,,, shit happens,,, BuT Bill did play a fantastic single stroke roll -- the kit sounded like a very muffled choo choo train.
