    The reason why it's not in more arcades across North America is not because Konami isn't giving it support, it's that like every other arcade rhythm game, it's a niche machine and as such proper repair and upkeep is difficult to maintain. When fixing buttons, joysticks, pedals, and steering wheels are common place, it's not everyday you to have to fix a dj scratchpad, Yamaha drum kit, or heaven forbid, an LED light up pressure sensitive dance mat. When DDR, Guitar Freaks, Drummania, and Beatmania first showed up in North America, a constant issue was broken/misfiring machines due to shotty/no repair; as the technology gets more robust, you need better repair technicians and rarer spare parts. I used to work for an arcade and championed to bring in rhythm games all the time but they stopped getting the newer ones solely because no one would know how to fix them.

      This! It's a team effort. We need to push & support the techs for maintaining our treasures upon scoring them. Could it be a cash grab upfront with corporate? Hmm....

    One thing I like about Dance rush is the music is very western style EDM that you see at music festivals. Compared to other games where it's J-core, Vocaloid, and Anime music. It can do well in the west if Konami actually let western players play the game and make it more available.

    It helps a lot that this game has music someone would actually casually listen to. Most early 2000s rhythm games just loaded up the setlist with hardcore techno and drum and bass, which heavily limits the appeal. One of the reasons I love pump it up so much

    Round 1 has brought so many great games that would otherwise never be brought very far outside of Japan. As someone who loved rhythm games since the 2000's I'm so thankful there's a place like this in the US now. As for subjects, it would be super cool if you could make one of these videos for Pop'n Music, it's my favorite rhythm game

    Hello children, boomer rhythm game player here, Dancerush looks almost like a spiritual successor to ParaParaParadise in that the technical notes aren't super difficult but you can get fairly creative with movement. Also boomer raver here, I wish in my day we had a rhythm game I could legit shuffle on that would've been sick. Hope to see this somewhere in the US one day.
    Edit: Damn it I used to live right by the Burbank Round1.

      I am in the exact situation as you. DDR was my game in 2000's, still a raver and going to music festivals like EDC. REALLY wish this came out about 15 years ago, but i do have a Round 1 with a few Dance Rush games not far from me. It might be time to just time to dust off the old DDR shoes and move onto Dance Rush. Always wanted to learn to shuffle, this looks like a perfect game to practice on and have fun!

    • @WGSXFrank
      @WGSXFrank 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm 37 and same. I was addicted to DDR and ParaPara for years. I even bought a DDR8 machine when I was in high school (save up for over a year of odd jobs to do it).
      I would've loved this. Maybe I would've actually learned to dance too. At my age (and weight.. 270), I can still barely keep up with expert mode. However, I can't shuffle to save my life.

    My local mall got rid of it's arcade over a decade ago, and there hasn't been any arcade in the city for what feels like just as long. Just today, I found a new arcade in my area, but the only rhythm games (my first priority when judging an arcade) are 2 Dancerush Stardom cabinets. I did a lot of DDR in high school and then PIU in college, but was dismayed when I came home to absolutely no arcades within easy reach. I'm relieved to see that the gameplay isn't as complicated as I expected. And I'm delighted to have a place to do some musical cardio arcade with friends. 😊

    From experience of playing Dancerush Stardom, I agree completely with everything you said in this video. I remember that it was my brother who got me into playing despite me being hella nervous, though once I got on it I enjoyed it in the first few minutes.

    There is actually another way to play this game at home.
    If you have a TV at home and it faced in front of an open space, you can put on DRS gameplays from takepu dancerush and dance!
    However, the drawback is that he always set the note speed to 3 most of the videos (aka the most optimal speed for note reading.) and there is no gameplay for 2 players (He only uploaded the 2 players tutorial stage at this time.)

      Always up and running in Seattle. Mainly cause so many pass on them thinking they are more intimidating than DDR and Pump It up. When you have direct input like arrows over the openness of areas, the idea of thinking outside the box that DanceRush gives you, scoring players don't see that freestyle is worth it. To me it's real style and less bar hugging, you know, actual dancing.

    • @unknowndeoxys00
      @unknowndeoxys00 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      So far it's been untouched at my arcade. The rare pro comes by to play even in the daytime, or some braver kids with nothing else to do during the night try it out. Most people tend to bypass the rhythm games in general, but Dance Rush even more so. I agree that it might be more intimidating to the general public than DDR or PIU because the movement has to be more intuitive. Aka actual dancing :p

    I was getting tired of playing Stepmania. I learned about DRS from SGDQ 2021. Now, once in a while, I bike 10 miles from Campbell to Eastridge Mall just to play this game. I watched you play expertly on the 1st machine today, some level 10 song, and I should have introduced myself. It had to be you because you put your backpack on the ground. I appreciate your advocating rhythm games. I practice at home on living room carpet, not an ideal surface, but at least there, I don't have to unlock songs. The difficulty with playing DRS with Round 1 is I have trouble hearing the music with surrounding noise coming in from all of the other rhythm games.

    Everyone complaining about the older dance games music… I actually enjoy the anime music and vocaloid in dance dance revolution. It is my all time favorite game and the music is great. And you people obviously don’t know DDR has 2015+ music like Billie elish and lady Gaga. They are always downloading new music. They don’t just have techno. I will miss the old machines when they are gone.

    You cannot judge Pump it Up learning curve showing a nightmare level. Those levels are the ultimate. Before that, you got easy (training), normal, hard, normal double (freestyle), crazy and then, if you wish, nightmare. But no doubt this Dancerush seems to be more flexible and dance-focused.

    This was a really enjoyable watch! You rarely ever see rhythm game content like this on youtube so a video covering dancerush is great to have, first time I've heard anyone else mention ZIV that's for sure. I haven't gotten a cab near me but I use the "improvise by watching gameplay videos and dance along to that" method to get around it and really enjoy the game.

    Older DDR had the benefit of Euro style trance/dance music, which gave it a bit of popularity here. I know a lot of my friends don't care for the anime stuff. But man, I wish we had this is the early 2000's. If you ever get a chance to play it, do it. It's fantastic. DDR loses flexibility at the higher difficulties, while this still gives you a lot of self expression (which as an older guy, doesn't hurt the joints as much).

    Luckily I live pretty close to two different Round 1and I've seen DanceRush at both locations. Haven't tried playing it yet, but it looks super fun watching people dance. I understand most of it but what do you do when the command says "down"? Is it just both feet down? And how does the machine record the "Jump"?

    • @FNWeeaboo
      @FNWeeaboo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did not break until after I played Dancerush most of what I learned at the time of that video is shuffling. The rest is just from observation. As for how downs work there is a camera that senses any downward movement and is pretty sensitive. Jumps are pretty easy as the pad only cares if it detects feet on the pad. Essentially a simple if else statement of if(no feet=jump)

    Or at least sell a pad similar to the one in the arcade that you could connect to your PC or something and play in your home. Can't imagine it would weigh like 80kg

    So Dancerush is exclusive to Round1 in the states? We got this arcade in FL that just introduced me to Wacca and Sound Vortex but I doubt they'll have enough space for one of these currently. Hopefully in the future if they ever expand.

    On the bright side tho I've been able to get a similar gameplay experience through mods in the vr game beatsaber with the only downside being I've crashed into my desk/wall a decent amount of times while doing this lol.
