All the homophobic comments are hilarious. In the comics he is bi. The writers originally wrote him as bi but that wasn’t the main focus. He is more than his sexuality. He’s the same badass character. You just know more about him now.
Aqualad is one of my favourite character on the show alongside Kid Flash, Robin and Superboy

@@PokeMageTech I have so much respect for you and your willingness to write this comment I personally feel that although it is animated DC superhero show, Young Justice does a great job of respectfully representing a large range of different people whether it is race, sexuality etc.
It's weird, when a character is all about being gay/bi people complain about how it feels forced in...but Kaldur's sexuality was not focused on at all in Season 3 and was well handled...so idk why people are still complaining

Sometimes I forget Atlanteans have super strength. Aqualad was knocking Superboy around like it was no problem,even though Superboy was basically a semi-mindless clone at the time.
More than just that, their skin and bones are both also insane due to the water pressure they live in. Atlanteans really get slept on in dc tbh

Kaldur routinely does the best against Superboy, helped also by his Atlantean magic. Magic is one of Superman's bigger weaknesses.

Honestly, the fact that DC took one of their least interesting and inspired characters and turned him into such a badass, with a cool power set that's also such a great leader with a sense of professionalism and decency wholly unique to him is amazing. My favorite character from Young Justice and it's not even really close.

Aqualad is one of the most mature members in the show. I’m more interested in his hand to hand fighting skills. I don’t even know what level standard he’s on. Comparing him to Nightwing is pretty tough.

I started watching this series not knowing about characters like Aqualad, Superboy, and Ms. Martian. Now they’re some of my favorites.

fr. going into this i would've never expected that a dc show, that wasn't in some way or another centered around batman and/or superman, would come out with such incredible characters and be able to make me love them so much
Before young justice they weren’t particularly consistent in characteristics and aqualad for example was very underwhelming and not fleshed out knowing about them before doesnt do much when you discovered them in one of if not the best iteration of them

So true! That's why I didn't liked season 3 when I first watched it:too much focused on new members, nightwing got less than 3 fights and Aqualad didn't even really got one.. Hope season 4 will be more focus on the original team

People are hypocrites lol, when the Iceman thing happened they bitched about him being "changed" but when a new, badass, interesting, original character appears and happens to be LGBT, they critizice it by saying in was "never hinted at" when it was revealed
Heroes who are LGBTQ: wonderwoman, deadpool, loki, batwoman, harley quinn etc. NO one cared when they were made LGBTQ now why is that.....
its about how they did it, no one cares about him being gay but that aqualad comic was not the same aqualad we are seeing here, just like with Iceman they wrote in a totally different personality so they would fit the writers perception of what a gay person acts like. This is also ignoring that the entire comic exists more or less to make aqualad gay and harp on about prejudice against homosexuals, not to tell a cool/interesting story. If the comic in question is written such that you could remove aqualad's super powers and the story would be the exact same story then it stands to question why make it about aqualad.... Imagine a superman comic where his superpowers are virtually irrelevant to the story...Thats the problem. I dont care who aqualad wants to fuck, I just wanted him to be badass, I dont want hte focus of a story to be on their sexual identity the same way I dont want the focus of the story to be on addiction, world hunger etc.
Take for example the depictions of Iron man and his alcoholism, the entire story is not focused on his drinking, instead they focus on how his drinking affects his ability to properly be a superhero. If they just treated aqualad being gay the way they treat other characters being straight no one would say a thing. Honeslty when people say that its about homophobia its silly when you have

TBF Aqualad in the comics is Garth who is white (and is also in this show) Kauldur isn't from the comics he was made specifically for this show.

I think Aqualad is the perfect evolution of the Aquaman character. The next Aquaman reboot should consider this character as a reference.

I don't know why I always come back to this video but I love this show. I'm kinda sad Kaldur and Garth never got to discuss Tula's passing on screen but I get it because there's too much going on for every aspect to be covered but still. I'm glad Paradox have them (even if briefly) as a battle trio against Slade.

@@dessopopp if it was just water, I'd lean towards Katara for sure. But Aqualad can physically challenge Superboy. He just needs to get close enough to hit her and she'll be a goner.
Not to mention his ability to channel electricity into water, which he could definitely use against Katara pretty effectively to disable her.
Katara's best chance against him is freezing him since I don't think Aqualad has done much with ice, but I think he's still the more likely winner.

I've noticed on land, his hydrokenesis blades are way more powerful where he has access to water than they are in the ocean. Break a sprinkler get a dragon, be near a lake and make practically a cannon. But be in the ocean and they're not any better than they are in a completely dry environment.
I really love Jackson Hyde/Kaldur's Aqualad more than Garth's version of Aqualad.

Cool powers, and he should be a beast. But I noticed rewatching seasons 1 and 2 recently for the first time in a few years....they really make him take punishment. Even in times when he probably shouldn’t, except for the sake of the plot. Hell I’m still salty he “lost” that sparring match in the cave against Superboy. Even with him lacking the strength of Conner, Kaldur’s experience and training should’ve gave him an advantage. After all, black canary help train him too. Unless she just trained Connor a little extra. Which would be lame. Glad Kaldur got that shot in season 2 though.
Kaldur has been trained to use his weapon things and his magic more than bare knuckle brawling and grappling, where Connor is trained is specifically that

The justice league is a bunch of exceptional individuals put together. Young Justice league is a team of exceptional people who are great at teamwork put together. I think they are much scarier

People who think that he was made gay because it's only for diversity points don't realize that Kaldur's entire existence is only because of diversity points. The original Aqualad, and only one in comics before this show, is white, and he is best friends with Dick, Wally, and Roy in the comics. Aka the group we see in the beginning of this show. Kaldur was created so that the team wouldn't be all white, and eventually made it into the comics, where he has been Aqualad since.
And no, the comics technically weren't the source material for him at first, but he was bi in the comics before he was in the show, so stop bitching about him actually not having comic source material. He does. Calm down.

Garth was the only Aqualad at the time of the comics, and they made a new Aqualad that was black specifically for the show. Yes, he is a fabulous character and has tons of depth. But his creation was because they wanted diversity. But they did it well.

I think it's an Atlantean thing. I know in the comics Garth (the first Aqualad there), Tula, and Lorena (the first and second Aquagirls) are all barefoot. I think it's because they have no need for shoes underwater, and they have super durable skin.
