In my opinion, to learn a Foreign Language anyone at the beginning needs to learn at least its main structures, constructions, such as its verb system, sentences patterns, and so on. It's true that in everyday life speech people go the contrary way, towards the de-construction of their own Language (they may omit verbs or other sentence parts, or even change words order, and so on), but this is just in the spoken Language in such very informal situations. Such trend's clue is represented, maybe, by the different kinds of Slang idiolects.... But as someone has to deal with more formal situations (that usually is most part of our life: at work, with collegues, to apply for sth, in social events, the mass-media, the TV, the everyday news, the cinema, and so on...) the Language all of us use is mostly the currently codified one, isn't it? In addition, as You properly underlined, while studying a Foreign Language we often lack the Immersion in the needed background, moreover as a matter of fact our learning process is very different from children's learning process, our own requirements too. Any situation helps us define the right Language code to use, it help us understand more (un-verbal communication), but we cannot do without a Language for well-known reasons! 😊
I agree that we have to study the grammar soundly with the textbook to improve our speaking and listening ability. I suppose one of the best ways to study Chinese is to do with the textbook and your TH-cam channel, as I'm doing right now. I like your channel best because you only speak Chinese, while many other channels teach Chinese with other languages. 😊 17:55
Yes, our mother language affects our pronunciation of the foreign language. Japanese is a flat language unlike Chinese and English. A Chinese teacher said that she couldn't even understand her student was speaking Chinese!
