Rex @ 6:42 I’m 100% with you on that. It has ruined several bourbons for me that I thought could be great otherwise. This is the reason I’m straying out to “American whiskey” and scotch lately.
I heard a story about a famous Wisconsin company, I want to say it was Birdseye frozen foods, that used to give their employees an extra day off on holidays or three day weekends so their employees weren't in the traffic hurrying to get home with the rest of the vacationers.
Orphan barrel, mizunara barrel, your unicorn barrels I just did a tasting with Tish Harcus of Canadian Club and that’s how the 41 came to be as she explained it. The master distiller at the time passed away and didn’t leave any notes beside the mash bill of what was in these barrels so they didn’t know what to do with them. Everyone being confused as to the masters plan just skipped over them till Tish noticed they had some 40 on the spreadsheet and tried it and it was amazing which I can verify since we had it at the tasting. We started with the basic club which smells like paint thinner but was all worth it to end on the 41 year.
I recently had the Jefferson's Ocean Cask Strength which I liked but it was a bit too salty. But, I think it will come in handy to mix with other bourbons to add a little briny note. I recently tasted a few 15+ year old bourbons including the Pappy 23 and the oak really seemed dominate and slightly out of balance.
Hi Guys, i'm fairly new on your Chanel, but love your shenanigans. I come from a brewing background and I have a question for you: can hoppy Beer can be use to make whisky? Will it show on the the wiskey?
New intro and outro are different...I definitely like some aspects, but some of it is a bit off too. Glad you keep trying new things and making changes as the channel grows.
I totally agree. The majority of folks would give you the shirts off their backs to help a stranger out. It's the small percentage of assholes that ruin everything for everyone all across the world. It was nice to hear you guys mention that. Here's to the vast majority of nice folks!
Could you guys please make a video on the top whisk(e)y s by country? Some of the stuff in your channel is hard to relate to as they're not available in other parts of the world. Cheers!
It is, but I think he was talking about this in comparison to "american whiskey," like Micheter's American Whiskey, that is essentially bourbon mash, but aged in used barrels. There are a few others that have come up that are the same story, and Rex always exclaims that he wishes Bourbons were allowed to do used barrels.
Hello Daniel and Rex! I discovered the Whiskey Tribe and Whisk(e)y Vault about 5 months ago, and I loved the content you guys produce! I am a college student in Nebraska and I fell in love with whisk(e)y from the first time I had some. I'm a lover of Bourbon whisk(e)y, but I'm always on the search for new whisk(e)y (Bourbon, Scotch, Irish or otherwise) that will help me find the whisk(e)y that is just right for me. If not, at least I'll find a new love that I can always recommend for other whisk(e)y lovers. My question for you both is, what Bourbon whisk(e)y would you recommend for an outdoors man, such as myself, who loves the smell of campfire smoke? What other non-american made whisk(e)y would pair very well with such? Thanks so much for your time, and i'll raise a glass for you both every time I see your videos. Cheers! Aaron S. Wood
If, by evidence of calling on other mooches to send you whiskey on this past Saturday's Whiskey Tribe and them doing, you haven't regained your Moochdom, I don't know what will make it happen.
Two things. Adam ruins everything is insanely biased and has a few episodes that are entirely wrong. The other is the patent system is designed for "people to take advantage" rewarding them for innovation. For example, I changed my mind about price gouging. I used to think it was the asshole thing to do. But you have to think these people are shipping goods or selling goods that are very limited so the reletive cost is much higher. Let alone the risk they have due to whatever is causing the price disparity. The easiest way to limit price gouging is logistics. What you see is if you outlaw price gouging what happens is it actually hurts people more than if you allowed it. If people price gouge more people will bring supplies into the area defacto lowering the price because of the increased supply to meet the demand. With price gouging allowed it incentivizes people to import more goods into disaster affected areas.
We can’t let Daniel Month end. The great Somm wisdom and stories must continue. Daniel Year.
DANIEL YEAR

New intro. I like it.
The Hobbit enjoys history.
Lets call this whiskey history month vs Daniel month.
Amazing story! That's dropping the mic into the bourbon glass! BOOM!
Terrific episode with all the historical information!
I don’t think you can say “20 years” and “all the sudden” in the same sentence
Daniels whiskey tales should totally be a seperate video from now on. I dont want them to end. Cheers.
Loving the whisk(e)y history episodes! Daniel, I do believe March is at least 90 days long...right?

Korean War never ended. It’s at a ceasefire still
It was never started, it was a..."police action" yeah... Police action 😉
@@redstarmn9308 North and South Korea definitely were in a real war, and technically still are.
Still in love with the new intro!
What do you guys think of McClellan's Speyside? It's my first Single Malt Scotch but I haven't cracked it open yet

Whiskey Thanos said: Fine, I'll do it myself.
When are you guys reviewing Proper Irish
These guys are getting way too serious! There wasn't so much as a chuckle when Daniel said "over pushed in and out of the wood" @13:50.
I am a solid supporter of Daniel Year until March 2020.
I’m digging the new intro!
Beautiful bottle
Why did he lose Mooch status this time?
Enjoyed! Very informative!
Isn't the "new American oak" requirement a thing for all specific types of American whiskeys? Like rye and single malt.

Buffalo Trace says on their tour they move barrels around constantly while aging
It's amazing to think that a 16 year old whiskey can only be released five times in the lifetime of a distiller.
Not if she puts a new batch in barrels every year.
@@TheBradWhittington suppose your right.
New intro looks great
Cool new intro y'all.
