    I'm a Santa Ana,CA native rises on 3rd street . I'm 57 years old I am so thankful my mom rises us there . Living in Santa Ana was both good and bad I lost a lot of friends through drugs and gang violence. And I'm talking back in the 1970's !!!! Graduated from Santa Ana High . I don't live in Santana anymore but I do have family there .... I do and don't miss my city ..why ? Cuz the more things change the more they stay the same or Worse!!! I appreciate and applaud those that work so hard to keep the peace and help La Raza in Santana !!! God bless you!! 🙏

    Santa Ana for life, from waving at Cheerios with his flashlight on the corner to cruising Bristol on Easter Sunday or just chilling at Centennial Park on 4th of July and watching the fireworks.....what can I say when I think of home it think of Santa Ana!

    This is exactly how Santa Ana is and this describes my childhood. I think that it doesn't seem depressing to live here because im so used to it and ive put up with the troubles and i have just made the best of it. Even though it was tough here, its made me a better person, I think.

    I live in Santana and I'm proud to be here. You can say its hard to live here but is it stopping us? NO. I can proudly say us Mexicans will be the last ones begging for money. Selling oranges? yes! but at least we're working hard for our money, to make it. In my point of view there's people out there worse. And that's why I can say I'm proud to be from Santa Ana. Even more proud that my father came from mexico worked in the fields with his father and now owns his own house with a nice paying career where he can retire in a couple of years. Just because bad things happen somewhere doesn't make it a bad place. SA ALL DAY!!!

    This video touched me so much because it's true. There is a few areas in Santa Ana that still hasn't gotten any better and how there are two to three family's living together because you cant make ends meet. But we gotta do what we gotta do to keep moving foward.

  • @josemar19
    @josemar19 11 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    True not all areas in Santa Ana are bad, the point is that there are some really bad areas in Santa Ana, other cities in O.C Dont have bad areas. Instead of being satisfied with not all areas being bad, lets make an effort to improve the ones that are and not be satisfied with what we currently have.

    True. That has to do a lot with how they are raised and their culture in general. Asian parents tend to be very strict and put a huge emphasis in family honor. While mexican parents in Santa Ana (not all) are like: "Your failing math class son? --- Okay, remind me to sign you up for summer school?"

    • @openalpha01
      @openalpha01 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In terms of crime, you are correct. However, the focal point is the cost of living. The cost of living in the places you mentioned, pales compare to what it is in Santa Ana, CA. This is why it is one of the most densely populated city in the entire country. With it, obviously like any other major/densely populated city, comes crime, gangs, etc..

    Not all of Santa Ana is what is represented in this video. There are a ton of areas in the city that are fantastic places to be. I dislike the fact that they portray the city as a whole as a wasteland. That is not true.

  • @sassyladyy88

    I was raised in Santa Ana in the early 90's.
    Growing up I saw a lot of corruption/gangs/chaos in my neighborhood. It was like 'a way of life'. The worst thing I've seen (even to this day) is a guy (who ironically enough was a neighbor of mine) getting stabbed near an alley in Downtown. When I was a preteen however, I moved in to a small city in LA with my father. It was there where I saw real poverty/hardships.. not so much in the city I lived, but the city next door, which was Compton -- you literally can't walk down any block without seeing bars on windows, and I doubt they were for decoration.
    Santa Ana has now definitely changed for the better,
    and Downtown SA looks much more refreshing (:

  • @quelneuf

    instead of teaching si se pueda, why don't they teach English. Teach folks that it's cool to have a better life than it is to tag shit on walls, or be in a gang. I was born and raised in Santa Ana in the 50's and 60's. I always felt Santa Ana was the best place to grow up as a kid, but that all changed when people started voting for the welfare check, and not what was best for the people. Today I would not spend 5 min. there.

Men who own seafood places I will not mention to no effect how did he get to be mayor for ten long years? With all these findings still he is allowed to roam the streets with greed.

    SA is not the worst place to live in CA that is over dramatic. sure the poverty level is high, thats a struggle many hispanics, blacks n asians face. its more of like the worst plae to live in OC. cuz everywhere else to live in OC is either nice or kinda bad. compare SA to LA. i was raised in south central n compton. n honestly ive seen many people murdered for race, clothing n color apparel, especially friends of mine. people get killed for a piece of jewelry or a pair of shoes. on a day to day basis. the phrase around here is " u aint a real one till u kill one". so this city is about gangs n theres thousands of em trust. money is a factor but in all honesty. the parts of LA, SCLA,CPT, WATTS, EAST LA are about one rule. kill as many as u can, its all about killing. SA has high poverty level but LA has an intense crime and murder rate. especially in summer people just shoot others for no reason sometimes (kids,elders, parents, anyone). sad but very true. i hope this helps some people understand the difference rather than having greedy pride in where their from.
    me- from LA N CPT
    granma n mom- from SA(bad part)
    =understanding of both places.
